I main soldier and I don’t really know positioning with him I have watched ur how to solo carry on dps vid multiple times and I don’t understand why people would fight for neutral space when you have to claim an objective. because if you take an angle at the enemy team that is opposite of where they are playing, then you get to free fire the enemy team without them looking at you, if you sit next to your team and group then that is a very bad way to play all the time because you get low value and are forced to shoot tank

because then the enemy team has to work to get back to the point instead of just contesting it for free. The neutral space lets you take good angles which force the enemies to burn some resources to push you back

@@dafootlongsub1776 im not as good as A10 by any means, but I've been GM over the recent season. Yes, controlling areas that aren't part of the main objective not only allows you to take off angles and gives you the freedom to prioritize targets better, but it also allows your team to have a safe spot to move to if they need. If you control the high ground as soldier, and your other dps, let's say a Sojourn takes damage and needs to retreat but can't go "backwards" then you controlling the other space allows her to quickly shift to a position you already locked down and either find a health pack or wait for healing.

Rule 3 is what most people mess up and do most of the time, it is a window of time where the enemy team will not be able to push you out (so we don't need our resources for rule 1 and 2) so we can get away with using a cooldown so that it comes back before the enemy can then threaten to push us out

This all sounds nice, but it doesn't take into account the cumulative effect of other players deliberately doing things to throw games. This whole faux stoicism is just an attempt to ignore the contradiction of these kinds of ramblings where, on the one hand, you're playing a game that is ranked entirely based on team wins/losses, but on the other hand, we're supposed to just ignore the influence of the team and only focus on our own performance. Well, which one is it? Is this a team game where rank is meant to be a reflection of your ability to be part of a team in which case the performance of other players actually matters? Or is this an individual skill based game where only the performance of the individual matters? I don't think it's possible to have both, and the ranking system clearly defines what matters. If I'm playing Ana, and I spend the first minute of the game basically heal boting (throwing nades and sleeps in when it's safe between junkrat spam) at a choke because my tank is trying to play long range d. va, and neither dps is having a meaningful impact on the fight; then what more is there for me to do other than keep players alive? If I keep getting dps game after game who just stand out in the open without playing cover, and they keep face tanking more damage than I can physically heal; then where's this skill gap that I'm supposed to be overcoming? This isn't 20% of games that you'd like your pie graph to portray. This is game after game where I'm getting teammates who refuse to put in a sincere effort. This isn't even including the people who are deliberately throwing or going afk in the middle of games. Hell, I've gone into games where I'll be the only player with an elim for the first 2 minutes of the round as Ana, and it's not even because I was necessarily going for it. I just happened to get the opportunity in between keeping players alive. These aren't isolated, "oops I made a mistake" moments by teammates. These are teammates who are playing in a game mode where they have zero interest or capacity to actually participate. Losing a hard fought game where teams are equally matched, and everyone is putting in a best effort is one thing. I can deal with that, and there is something to be learned from those types of games. However, if I look at the scoreboard during a losing game, and see a dps with only 1 elim after several fights, why should I accept responsibility for that? There's no amount of carry that's going to change the outcome of that situation, and these situations happen far too often to be dismissed as only "20% of games."
