Not sure if Bogur already explained this but another cool thing you can do with Winston is deny heals. It's really helpful when you're fighting Doomfist like on Route 66. You may not kill him outright, but when he dives your team, (1) your team is shielded from other enemies and (2) Doomfist doesn't get any healing so his staying power is weakened. He has a much shorter window to try to get value before he needs to leave immediately or die.

One of the most important things Bogur says that might have been missed because he said it kind of in passing is, " You can't always hard carry because they are hyper-fixated on you." I think it's really important to understand when you can go hard and when you have to check your ego and play slow. It feels just like playing Tracer. Sometimes, you hard carry and slaughter everyone. Sometimes, you just distract them and hope for the best.

I love using this video as a reference to climb. One thing I noticed you're doing that I'm not is you're not chasing supports at the cost of your ideal positioning without taking damage. I chase supports in HOPE of finishing them off myself and end up taking unnecessary damage to do so. I think that's what people call "feeding" because you're taking UNNECESSARY damage which FEEDS them ult charge. Ever since I stopped chasing low health squishies I stayed alive longer and won more games. This time watching I noted another thing. You switch your attention. You harass supports making them run AWAY from their team (mainly ana) and when they run away you switch your attention back to the tanks and damage dealers BECAUSE they temporarily don't have any healing and are vulnerable. Winston's whole kit is designed to misposition any poke composition and because his tesla cannon locks onto multiple targets he fares really well against brawl compositions as well (even though technically speaking brawl compositions counter winston). Also different supports change the way you play. If they have a brig who adds armour and can heal mercys, zens or anas you change your playstyle from support focus to harassing them and then targeting the dps and tank. With anas and zens you go for the kill on the supports and more or less ignore the dps and tank.

After watching how you play Winston. I started playing the same way. I've been winning and carrying. One game I lost bc we had Winston and 4 DPS. It's a little harder for me. Bc I'm new to playing and I dont know where all the health packs are. And there's been games where I haven't had to do much. The best tip i learned was the going in and out the bubble to kill enemies. If you get low on health. Just jump to the your back line and get healed.

Okay so, watching this vid not only inspired me to play winton, but he might just be my best tank rn, either that or sigma (minus Orisa bc corny top tiers don't count). I think one underlooked aspect of winston I'm glad you've pointed (more like got fucked over by), and one I'm gradually learning, is how to play slow due to team comps. I can't rush dealing w/ hanzo bc of storm arrow dealing 300 dmg excluding headshot dmg (he can 1 burst you with all headshots) in addition to the health changes. I can't rush dealing with Bastion unless my team is supporting and he's already used turret. I can't rush reaper unless he's out of resources wholesale or completely behind enemy lines. I can play slow when I need to, but knowing how is probably the biggest thing about winston since people will go out of their way to counterwatch you (swapping to orisa, swapping to som bc opportunist will fucking melt you like a squishy, swapping to bastion/reaper/zen). Saying to play him like rein is good advice. I need to be fine holding corners sometimes.
