Many years ago, when we visited family in China, we both went to Chengdu for a couple of days and witnessed how a girl used sajiao on her boyfriend. As a Chinese person I am really disturbed by these sort of “pick me”behaviors, but not because of the girls and boys doing it, but because of the people who actually fell for these unusual actions. The clips of her breaking character remind me of the 30 Rock episode where a new writer is added to the show who acts super “babygirl.” It pisses off Liz, who tries to break her of it the entire runtime until it’s revealed that the new girl acts that way because she’s in witness protection and feels safer with men around. Obviously not the same thing but the fact that I can’t tell if something is satire or for profit anymore is interesting.
