His voice began to break and had to be pitched one level in post-production. Well from this interview, it sounds like he wasn't trying to be an actor. He was just a normal kid that got asked to be in a movie - a movie that became very successful. Then, he wasn't in anything else nearly as successful. After observing many child actors, I've come to the conclusion that these kinds of transitions can have serious effects on them mentally. Another example is Carl Switzer who played Alfalfa from the original Little Rascals. He was a highly praised child star at the time. But after his voice changed during puberty, the studios dropped him and he struggled to find work. He turned to alcohol and odd jobs, until he got killed over $50. It can take a huge mental toll on anyone who goes from being a nobody to extremely famous, then back to a nobody. For a kid that can't anticipate these transitions, it must be even harder. Add to that the demands of Hollywood, the unscrupulous people you meet, and the access to drugs/alcohol, I think it would be difficult to not fall victim to that deleterious lifestyle.

He validated Mali Finn seeing something in him, as he turned out to be a talented young actor. He'll always be remembered for T2, but impressed me more in films like AMERICAN HEART and A HOME OF OUR OWN. People who say he wasn't a good actor should check out some of his more dramatic films. He had a multi-faceted presence you don't see in many teen actors and played some heavy roles opposite some very talented and experienced adult actors. And if he hadn't been at that Boys & Girls Club that day, his talent would have never been known. Makes you wonder just how much talent is never realized, only for lack of opportunity, in this big ol' world.

Then presiding over them were the slightly older River Phoenix and Leonardo DiCaprio. It’s clips like this which truly re-emphasise just how lucky we are to have KZbin, as it continues to preserve priceless footage such as this forever. Who’d’ve thought, even in the 90s, just how invaluable taping something onto VHS would become, especially given what it’s evolved into. It’s true when people say that KZbin is the closest thing we’ve got to a time machine, which is just as well when the past is preferable to both the present and such an uncertain future (however I’m speaking personally about my own current situation when I say that).

I believe that Macaulay Culkin was considered by Cameron for the role of John Conner but his parents rejected it because they didn't like him swearing for it.

Hey, remember when John Connor was "extremely" important? Not so much these days though, certain somebodies thought they could just toss JC into the garbage can...Yeah, NO. NOT...buying it!

Gosh watching this made me miss both the actor and John Connor even more. Look what Cameron and the crew of Dark Fate did to John! It was like they decided to rip out the heart of the franchise and try replacing it with a new heart, in the form of a 5 foot tall, 100 pound lady who lacked any fighting spirit or cunning. No surprise that the franchise has been terminated.

Considering all the moaning Jim did about newt being killed off. He thought killing teenage John was a good idea ? Dark fate sucked.

@@mikeadams7904 It’s not often that films get sequels that top the previous films… T2 was the best of the series and unfortunately the rest sucked. I always wondered how the series would have been if they had Ed come back for T3

@@RedSupra I really liked terminator salvation. Christian bale was a very intense actor
@RedSupra2 жыл бұрын
@@sauronthegreat5799 I won’t deny that Christian Bale is an amazing actor and it made sense to cast him because John would have to be around 40 years old in Salvation, but Salvation cant hold a candle to the cinematic greatness of T2 regardless of who played John. My only issue with T3 not casting Ed as John was that it had been 12 years or so since T2 came out and Ed would have been the perfect candidate to play John based on the chronological time that had passed in the series. The reason for not casting Ed is beyond me though, maybe he was offered the role and he turned it down.

@@RedSupra He was in trouble with the law for drugs and other offences. The original Terminator, T2, and I even liked Genisys... not so much the acting, because it was awful, but it was definitely interesting and I like that they went back in time and 'tried' to recreate the original intro scene for the first film... even if they couldn't get the 'hooligans' right.

I’d like to see the Terminator Dark Fate audition of Edward Furlong. That must be only 5 seconds long.

Sadly all they did was bring him in for one afternoon so they could CGI his face.

@@Contra2075 Actually they CGI'd Eddies face onto another child actors body and as well as for Linda and Arnolds face for that scene. It was not unused T2 footage. IF you have never seen videos using this technology just check out this one with a Fake George Lucas played by comedian and impressionist Josh Robert Thompson kzbin.info/www/bejne/lX7YqYmnd5h8bac

Normally child actors make you want to put your foot through the screen, but he was genuinely good. His voice jumps up and down but his scenes with Arnie are great.

I will never forget watching Terminator 2 with my older sister when I was around 10 years old. We'd even rent it a bunch of times each summer. Watching that movie as a kid felt like you were going on a journey, never a dull moment, sure there was slow parts but it was captivating and story progressing. I can't be the only kid who thought about often and also dreamed about having my own terminator who has to follow my commands.

Furlong was one in a billion. Casting kids is extremely difficult. Just look at Arnold's film, The Last Action Hero, that kid was not even close to Furlong.
