Christopher Seufert: I just left this review of the museum on Yelp... At one time, when Mr Gorey was still with us and this was his home, a bit of otherworldly magic seemed to surround the vicinity. As a fellow artist, in my case as a writer/vocalist for Cape born Punk Rock band The Freeze, to return home from a show at 3 or 4am and seeing Mr Gorey's light on in his work room, his silhouette on the wall through the window, always gave me the feeling that i wasn't alone, that just possibly what i was creating had relevence, worth and my time invested wasnt wasted. The day that light ceased to shine was the day Cape Cod lost the last of it's mystique to this native Cape Codder. I will always be thankful for the times Mr Gorey and i spent together: for the original front and back cover art he designed for our 1999 album ONE FALSE MOVE. He was kind and generous, yet at times could be shy and unreachable. He was simply a genius and he continues as legendary. Why only 4 stars? Because having known Mr Gorey, I'm not sure he would recognize the museum as his old home. Back in the day, clean, unclutteted, manicured, would be 3 of the last words anyone who knew him would've used as descriptors for the place in which he lived. His art remains, yet his essence is gone...

@@yopi548 EG was an absolute master at saying so much in so few words. I'll always remember the time that Stephen King took me aside at one of his huge signing events in Boston. It was for the release of his novel "Hearts In Atlantis". He only knew who I was because he's such an admirer of EG and had bought "One False Move" because he recognized who had done the cover art for it. Long story less long, when i was getting my copy of "Hearts" signed, King reached under the table and grabbed an extra copy that he inscribed to Edward Gorey. "Please give this to Mr Gorey for me. Oh and tell him that I'm his biggest fan". The obvious reference to the character Kathy Bates played in the movie version of "Misery" was clever and kind of comical I thought. The next morning I called EG's and asked if was okay for me to stop by and give him the gift from Stephen King. "Oh, um, sure, I guess." He sounded anything but excited. EG was standing just outside of his side door, his main entrance when I pulled in. "Well, what is it. Let me guess, a book?" he asked with a smirk. "I'm not sure. I didn't bother to look at it" I replied, returning his smirk. When I handed it to him, all 800 pages, he held it up in one hand, exaggerating it's weight a bit with a feigned struggle to do so. "Well thank you, I guess" "Not a problem" I told him. As he turned to go inside I could hear him saying: "What can one man have to say that takes up this many pages?"

When is this coming out? I funded this on your kickstarter years ago, before I went to grad school, so yeah, years! You should have enough footage by now, and one of the comments says that you were showing a rough screening two years ago. As a kickstarter backer, I would like to see that rough cut too. I fee like all of us who funded your kickstarter should get SOMETHING by now!

Hi, It's set for completion soon but there are factors beyond our control that define that, mostly in terms of copyright clearances. Thanks for your patience! It's off schedule but otherwise well in hand. Rewards have been delivered but of course not those who have the book or completed film going... @@ChristopherSeufert17 I've been there. I spent over seven years working on a documentary. Most of that time was spent impatiently waiting to secure copyright releases on essential music, photos, and archival film footage. Ken Burns must be an organizational genius with infinite patience. Either that, or he has a large stash of Jack Daniel's and Sinatra CDs to get him through the day. 😸

i TOTALLY UNDERSTAND THE DIFFICULTIES OF RELEASING A KICKSTARTER PROJECT. I'VE FUNDED A FEW MYSELF. For any film project really. there's so much involved and so many hurdles, especially for an indie project, hey man, get it done when you can, release when you can. it can take years, I totally get it, cuz its not just the project life happens too.

@@PatrickPrejusa Will do. The original Kickstarter opened doors to the project that cost money to go through.. particularly visualizing some of Edward's stories through animation (time and money consuming) and traveling the world interviewing significant artists who were influenced by Gorey.. most notably Danny Elfman, Terry Gilliam, Lemony Snicket, Neil Gaiman, The Tiger Lillies, Amanda Palmer, etc... so we've been working hard and it takes time. I don't quite get why people don't understand the delay even if they don't like it. Nevertheless it's coming, we have a core crew that has been nursing this along, and it's happening, a promise.
