not exactly right. home edition has bitlocker that can do full disc encryption only. you need pro or enterprise to encrypt removeable storage devices as well.

"forget firfox, and use tor, its used by criminals to hide their identity." you could not have worded that worst mate. Firefox can be set up for privacy, and tor isn't used mainly by criminals, mostly by journalists, governments, as well as whistleblowers and pro+ privacy users. please don't give he onion a bad name. -rep EDIT if you want real privacy, heres some better tips look into keeping a stock laptop, as just a cover device, and set it in the BIOS to run from USB instead of harddrive on boot, so you can use a thing called TAILS OS, which is a Linux distro. look into file encrytion software thats open source, and create dummy files to mix up your Dir in case someone gets a hold of your stuff. if your using persistent storage on your tails usb (which i'd advise against in most circumstances) make sure to understand and fully trust the software your using on it, as well as the places your going on with it. TOR isn't a miricle to online privacy, theres still ways to be tracked through it, however not easilly. your best bet is to have a custom VPN, on a public network with a disquised IP address, and only connected to the internet when you need to be. NUMBER ONE RULE if you want privacy, get off the internet. it wasn't built with privacy in mind in the first place, theres much safer ways to keep your privacy offline. or just play greyman, and try to blend in with the mases. works for most anyways.

@FinlayDaG33k
@FinlayDaG33k 4 жыл бұрын
@@aerincollins1175 Theoretically speaking, no... But there might still be ways for forensics to find out anyways through correlation... Also, don't bother using a VPN, if anything, it increases the chance of you getting caught since that VPN now knows that your account (with your billing details) was connected to the TOR at 1350... If you also are unfortunate to have something else leaking (eg. DNS requests) then they can correlate very quickly what you've done...

@@aerincollins1175 Use Tails ("hit and run") or QubesOS ("for sticking around a bit more"). Using Windows with TOR isn't going to accomplish much since you'll be leaking metadata all over the place. I honestly don't use a VPN at all (only one that I have running at home), public VPN services aren't to great for privacy...

@@FinlayDaG33k I tried tails but it wouldn't load. Even on a fresh hard drive. I'm not using tor anymore for reading. But the vpn I'd still there . On a daily basis I use the duck duck go on firefox with the vpn. But i really though the vpn would protect privacy. Just to ask. If you're just browsing around and not downloading anything off to ur pc will it still be worth using tor. Is metadata still stored by going through online reading or visiting websites. I've read that going on the dark web just is safe unless doing illegal downloads.

I'm not even going to pretend I can protect myself. Most people don't have time for this, and children and young adults often don't know why it's important. In other news, I need a camera that can find items around my apartment as well as assisting me in organizing. I've always had problems with being messy due to executive functions, but after December especially, I have a very poor short-term memory. Come on in Big Brother. Smiles to myself. Someone is going to have to see me. Benjamin Franklin once said: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." Well, it's 2021, I think, and we have to address a new type of society and danger.

Passwords that are strong= Never use anything friends and family and or colleagues would know such as birthday favourite food type of car birthdays ect. Never use common passwords search em up. Never use words that can be found In a dictionary. Use complicated random passwords 10-30 letter random combinations. Example: Vfghdxvfe_890@ Encrypt Hard drive Encrypt All USB's Use a trusted VPN over trusted Proxys. Use Tails or Linux OS. Use recommended add ons fir windows or chrome HTTPS everywhere Privacy badger ect. A VPN nested with abit a few trusted proxys I can imagine make it's harder for hackers to attack you or steal Info. You can type up safety recommendations for any OS just read and research what you should have. Encrypt everything as much as possible USB'S (Flash drives the things you stick into the side for storing memory.) Encrypt Hard Drives. Change Passwords every 1-16 weeks. I'm sure Microsoft or Google or something g changes it every 40 days on thier systems Please note don't use Tor for regular web searches I can Imagien it only hides data from like websites. I was told Tor along with Tails or whatever is for Anonmity hoe Is using tor for regular searches and online banking being anonymous? Tor with other safety techniques and tips are for anonmity or invading ISP and Law authorities not for everyday use. Just nesting proxys with a VPN or just a VPN will kepl hackers at bay. I wouldn't use Tor for regular things your supposed to change browsing habits and not log into anything you would kn the normal internet this deanonymizes you. If anyone is monitoring tor nodes and see you logged into your bank ect. Anything personal or logging into somethin perosnal like you would on the normal internet would tell whoever watching you with high accuracy who you are. Tor was not made to do online banking and using social media's. 90% of the internet activity and web things you do at home should never be done on Tor. (Socail medias, online banking, paying bills you should not be using Tor.) Also using well recommended things like Anti Malware and anti spyware anti virus ect. Keep scanning them fully every few days everything you download scan it first for a while. Get well recommended ones only. This Is just general safety advice for keeping hackers and website trackers at bay. I'll leave some help links later.
