NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, the source behind the Guardian's NSA files, talks to Glenn Greenwald about his motives for the biggest intelligence leak in a generation.
Subscribe to The Guardian on KZbin ► is.gd/subscribeguardian
The 29-year-old is a former technical assistant for the CIA and current employee of the defence contractor Booz Allen Hamilton. Snowden has been working at the National Security Agency for the last four years as an employee of various outside contractors, including Booz Allen and Dell.
The Guardian, after several days of interviews, is revealing his identity at his request. From the moment he decided to disclose numerous top-secret documents to the public, he was determined not to opt for the protection of anonymity. “I have no intention of hiding who I am because I know I have done nothing wrong,” he said.
Snowden will go down in history as one of America’s most consequential whistleblowers, alongside Daniel Ellsberg and Bradley Manning. He is responsible for handing over material from one of the world’s most secretive organisations - the NSA.

At this point I expect they know what I do when I leave my house. America is dead and the Supreme court killed it when they allowed for the corruption of government. Which led to the privatization of our military and intelligence agency's which led to the state of affairs in the us today. It's game over man all you can do is hope to rip down the entire system and start over. Violent revolution in the US is impossible so things will never change for the better.

It's a risk, certainly. The systems need to purge data faster, and legitimate warrants with restricted scope need to be granted for all searches in data. We absolutely should not be allowing a military agency to be rifling through American's personal data.
