Edward Snowden Responds to Trump Impeachment Inquiry & Justice Dept. Lawsuit Against Him

As a whistleblower complaint filed against President Trump rocks Washington and threatens Trump’s presidency, one of the world’s most famous whistleblowers, Edward Snowden, joins us from Moscow, Russia. Earlier this month, the Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against Snowden alleging that his newly released memoir, “Permanent Record,” violates the nondisclosure agreements he signed with the federal government when he was a National Security Agency employee. The Justice Department also argued that they are entitled to all of Snowden’s book profits. Democracy Now!’s Amy Goodman and Juan González speak with Snowden about the lawsuit.

Every summer, restaurants and boutiques along the New England coast fill up with Russian students on work visas. I can tell you that Russian kids are exactly like our kids. They want the same things. They have the same values American kids did in the 1960's. They value work and an honest pay check and quality, stylish products. There's no way that Russia, post Communism, is some kind of backward, brainwashed populace that hates the west. There are transcribers listening to the conversation in real time and then are transcribing what they hear in real time. 25 plus transcribers on every phone call then they submit them. Then they reviewed to see any difference and then if there are differences they go to who transcribed it to figure why it could have been different. Alexander vindman was asked this in the hearing because his transcript mentioned demand in it regarding when trump asked zolynsky if he would do us a favor. After Tim Morrison went back to ask vindman he changed it to reflect what he actually heard was do us a favor. So don’t be a mocking bird idiot saying it’s like the telephone game someone tells someone something and then they tell someone who tells someone. Whistleblower protection is a joke. Almost without exception, here’s how it works: Whistleblowers are encouraged to come forward and report wrong doing and criminal acts by others. The “powers that be”, take the info, thank the whistleblowers and tell them they did the right thing. The information is then covered up or simply not acted on. The guilty party is rarely fired or prosecuted. After it’s all over, the whistleblower is fired or retaliated against and efforts are made to “improve the system” to help prevent future acts of wrongdoing from being discovered by future whistleblowers whom the powers that be consider “rats” who can’t be trusted to work with because, they create a hostile work environment. Go figure.

Interesting. Listening to him state the oath of service the CIA required of him -- and knowing that what he states is indeed true, because I too once took the same oath to serve my country, which was the very same oath of service -- there is absolutely no mistaking nor even arguing the fact Showden did indeed upheld his oath by acting exactly as he did. Because he upheld and protected the Constitution against ALL enemies both foreign and domestic. The oath doesn't say "all enemies both foreign and domestic with the exception of the federal government" it leaves it open so as to include the government, to assure no entity is given a pass. So, legally speaking I don't understand why there are no legal authorities coming to Snowden's defense and taking on his case at the highest levels of justice.
