The NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden's full interview 2014 with the Guardian. The 31-year-old former intelligence analyst discusses whether he is a Russian spy, his likely fate if he returns to the US and the relevance of George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four in the age of Google. Mr Snowden talked exclusively with Alan Rusbridger, editor-in-chief of the Guardian, and reporter Ewen MacAskill in Moscow.

Why is this guy being treated like a spy or traitor? He's a whistle-blower . There's a difference.

+Alex Adey Precisely. I think it has a bit more to do with the fact that the American government sees it's population as being the enemy (and there's numerous different reasons why I believe this); I truly think it has little to nothing to do with preventing acts of terrorism, even. Otherwise, why would Snowden be considered to have commited an act of treason? If you take 9/11 into context when talking about The Patriot Act, and when you acknowledge the vast amounts of forensic and scientific evidence suggesting that 9/11 was perpetrated by our government (in order to demonize muslims and to justify the legislation for the Patriot Act), then it becomes harder to see the establishment of The Patriot Act as being anything other than an elaborate scheme to spy on and control the American population. I truly believe that whatever benefit the Patriot Act serves, doesn't involve protecting the American people, and is ultimately nefarious. That was a tangent and a half, sorry!!

Because the American government in it's current and past administrations have been doing criminal acts while escaping prosecution. And now they've been caught with their pants down, due to Snowden. Now, they want to kill him for exploiting such.

+Magic Guild yea but he broke the law and he can't get away with doing that the same as we can't. But when politicians break the law they are looked at like they're doing the right thing because many people stand by them. When Snowden did what he did no one or at least not many people were aware of what he was doing let alone were standing by him and supporting him. I think he did the right thing myself but it doesn't matter, he broke the law.
@matthewcardoso5421

+Mr Bob i disagree, i dont believe he broke the law. Edward Snowden and countless other NSA, CIA, DOD, any branch of the Military take an oath to protect the United States and its Constitution from enemys foreign and DOMESTIC. When you have the people put in government positions ment to protect the people using these surveillance programs to basically strip the people of their right to privacy, their right to free speech and more, they are the ones breaking the law, they are the enemy, they are the Traitors. Just my opinion i guess, Peace

Don't stop Edward, If I was your mother I would be very proud. And I am proud of you and thank you from the bottom of my heart for bringing truth, honesty and reality to so many of those, that live in a world of,( may I say, make believe). I say this because I myself have spoken to a few people, years ago now, about some of the things that you are disclosing to the public and they though that I was off my rocket, lol. So thank you for proving to me, that my sanity is intacted and none of it was a figment of my imagination. Thank you for bringing truth and honestly into our lives and world. One which is shrouded in secrecy, deception and lies. We need more people like you in this worldl we live in ...one that is covered by so many blankets, which make it hard for other's to see anything beyond, what they are led to believe. You have put your own life at jeopardy to show the reality of so many things. My prayers are with you always and stay safe. A friend from miles away. Hugs D

It fucked me up when Snowden said that "the world is much more unpredictable and dangerous" than the world in Orwell's 1984. When he first laughed at the comparison I expected him to say something about 1984 being too extreme, paranoid, or something like that. The fact that he laughed at such a prospect as reality trumping 1984 is very, very dark humor indeed.

For all of those who say, "one person can't make a difference" or "what do you want me to do about it", here's your answer. One person CAN make a difference, and you just have to have courage of conviction to stand up and say, "No. This is wrong." We have too many cowards in our country who just bend over and take it. We need more who are brave, put their comfort aside, and stand up for what is right.

Nonsense. The American people don't give a damn. We have been murdering millions and millions of people since our beginning and yet the people don't care. Eisenhower said to be aware of the industrial/military complex. He was at the front of the war and knew very well what he was saying. He was saying that we have created a monster and will not be able to control it. We have created a frankenstein! America's entire agenda is to kill. It is so horrendous and terrible that no one wants to see it. No nation in history has been as immoral and decadent. Americans live in a myth. To not understand this is to be insane and without empathy or common sense. Be aware of what your country is doing outside its borders. That is what will be done inside. America is a nation of apathetic sociopaths.

So if he is a liar/actor and if so it must be under the authorisation of the US government becuase they cancelled his passport, they went to his father to try and go to russia to get access to him. France and Portugal refused Bolivias president, Morales to land and refuel at their airports because Snowden might be on the plane. President Morales plane was forced to land and was then searched for Snowden. They would fake all of this, for what? Edit: The leaked documents doesent seem to be fake, why would the US government go through all of this and reveal that they are gathering information/ meta data on all of their citizens. With all of that information/data they havent stopped a single terrorist attack in the US. It doesent make any sense that it is fake.

King Scaar, 1. No his lying does NOT have to be under the authorization of the US gov't. 2. The U.S. gov't has a multitude of reasons they can cancel ANYONE's passport at any time. 3. Who told you they went to his father to try to access him through Russia? 4. Who told you that France and Portugal refused Bolivias president, Morales to land and refuel at their airports because Snowden might be on the plane? 5. Who told you that President Morales plane was forced to land and was then searched for Snowden? 6. Who told you the US government went through all of this and revealed that they are gathering information/ meta data on all of their citizens? 7. "With all of that information/data they havent stopped a single terrorist attack in the US." First of all, I'll address number 7: National Intelligence will tell you they've stopped a multitude of terrorist attacks through their investigstions. You don't want to believe that, fine, but what source are you getting your facts from? Secondly, I anxiously await your answers to the first six questions. And finally, "It doesent make any sense that it is fake." well, I'm sure it doesn't to people who just want to pretend they are in the know.

@@rixille That's why a "REAL" person like him would be great! He wants the America that the founders wanted! The founders wanted a new, people-fair system different to the systematic British empire corruption, which itself was a similar model to all the other empires before it. Didn't take long for the same lot of cynical arseholes to become "in charge" and make America the new Britain. A guy like Snowden leading America and the world is just the sort of change that could make all humanity better, pity it's almost unthinkable in reality/ :(

@Roy Miller He didn't actually. Obama just cancelled his passport as he was on a plane going to Russia, where he planned to swap flights and fly to South America. When his passport was terminated, Russian customs arrested him. Though they probably already knew who he was and what flight he was on anyway.

Ana Surena Vandenberg dos Santos I think he wants him to "remain quiet" for his own security, that message could be interpreted like he actually has some informations and according to "Patriot act" american citizens could be arrested without any arrest warrants and detained without bail for as long as they want to... PS: Is that really you on the profile picture, 'cause you're beautiful...
@RogelioPerea
@RogelioPerea 9 жыл бұрын
KappoDB : that's where we fail, when keeping quiet for the sake of our own "security". By the way: no amount of fence building, "terror" war, "drug" war, travel screening, 2nd amendment, wire tapping, militarized policing and related will ever guarantee 'security'. This country's international policy cemented that down to the ground a long LONG time ago, we're just living on the consequences, line up for our Soma pills and move on pretending everything is all right.
