Normally I think Edward Smith's reviews are a bit cheezy(i.e. too much "marketing" of the product), but this happens to be one of the best comparisons of the various recent Rode NT1 microphones. It is such a tough choice, when we now have so many options on the new and used market. Not not just from Rode, but from other manufacturers, in the $50 to $250 price range.

Well, do you need a USB connecting microphone option? If not, the NT1 Signature series is the way to go... not to mention it's close to $100 cheaper.

I pre-ordered a pair from Sweetwater. Spoke to my sales dude and asked if it was possible to get a pair with sequential serial numbers. He was not optimistic. But they arrived, and sure enough, sequential serials! They sound and look great. Just bought a pair of wood cases for them. One caveat: Like the two lowest-priced Neumanns, the NT1 Signature Series has an "impedance balanced" output, which, as an audio tech with 47 years experience, I can tell you means that the output is not balanced. So please, short mic cable runs only, like 20 feet or less.

@ScottGrammer

I am truly surprised by the signature series NT1's audio quality on your voice while dry. It had that 3d pop out of the mix sound quality that (dare I say it) was Neumann-esq. Not that it has the exact sound of a Neumann, just way closer than I expected It was way better to my ears on my studio headphones than the earlier iterations of this mic. I might have to pick one up now! The 5th gen also sounded really good as well and had some pop to it I liked but the signature was just a bit bigger and fuller sounding

Not necessarily. There are people who prefer the softer, less harsh top end of the 4th-gen capsule over the 5th-gen/NT1-A/Signature Series capsule. I waited until the 5th gen had come out, then deliberately spent the extra money to get a 4th-gen.

Please, Professor, please advise me scientifically and professionally, which is better for my home studio because I cannot judge which of these microphones to buy, bearing in mind that I bought Universal Audio 2 as an audio interface and wires from Mogami. Should I buy the Rode Signature Series or the Lewitt LCT 240 Pro?
@JimmyBigJim
@JimmyBigJim 2 күн бұрын
What would you recommend? I used to have a Nuemann M1 47 tube. I liked it, but I was always wondering if the 87 would sound better on my voice I went to a legendary studio and did a mic shoot out into my surprise and everyone surprised the Shure sM7 B sounded better on my voice, the UA 87 and the M1 47 needless to say I went and bought an SM 7B I still have and I and I really like it. I also bought the UAD DLX microphone and I’m a little bit on the fence over which I won’t get into thing for sure whatever Mike I buy next I have to test it out because again it really isn’t a cliché. It’s the microphone that works for your voice not the brand name or the price that being said I’m not aware of all the different Mic going on these days like you are so what do you think I should test out, I’m a rock pop singer and I have a tenor voice. I have a very high falsetto. Also another factor to point out I can really belt when I need to with the best of the singers so that being said the microphones gotta be able to handle the power of my voice or else I’ll get that awful distortion and yes, I know what you’re thinking then back up further away from the mic, but I do you know I know how to work the mic like a compressor, but I always tend to like to eat microphones to really get the richness of my voice. Thanks

This is an odd question maybe. But I was considering the portion of your video when you were talking about storage and how your Mike had gotten some rust and some dings over the years. Is there a certain type or brand of microphone that I should look for if I want to do videos on my painting hobby. Use a lot of corrosives and airbrush paint and stuff like that. Wondering if there is something that is more resilient to wear an environmental problems? Or maybe it's not a concern at all and I shouldn't worry so much.

The Rode central software comes with the NT1 5th gen because it offers a USB input. Only microphones with USB capability come with possible external software. The signature series offers an XLR input only, so no central software included.

I use computer software that filters the sound to remove the external noise and then I get it to the mixer so that I can clamp from the mixer to the mobile and the process is successful so that I can open the TikTok or Space on Twitter except I hear my voice at the time of speaking and I just want to hear the voices of others without my voice. Is there a specific mixer that provides me with the option of separating adjusted audio from computer to mixer and makes me muffle it and it is only apparent to me the sounds of others not my voice.
