I spent 10 months in Nepal in 2011. One of the best experiences of my life. I especially loved hearing the Buddha bells early in the morning from various areas of Kathmandu.

Oh wow that must've been amazing! I'm finding real value in staying longer in places on my travels...the longer you can stick around, the more you get from the experience. In a country like Nepal, new layers keep revealing themselves. You're spot on about the bells - it was the sounds of the temples and worship and that really caught my attention in Kathmandu. Loved it!

Dude, at first I thought this episode was a blast from the past 'cause they mentioned 2022 right at the beginning. Then I saw your trailer for the whole series and realized this was the epic finale after 2 years of grinding! Seriously, man, I'm floored. The dedication you poured into this whole series is unreal. I'm hyped to-watch the entire thing as soon as it becomes available from now on. Sending nothing but good vibes your way!

Amazing cinematography, top notch editing and back ground narration. Liked the idea of old school way of writing down the notes instead of using a laptop. I have been to Nepal for 5-6 time I can't even remember now. But I am beginning to reveal Nepal in a new way thru your camera eyes. And I immediately became a subscriber. Thanks for this very well documented video and what amazing photographs…some of the best I have seen on such videos...It would help to see the varied faces of Nepal even in terms of people rather than just one being concentrated on just a few here which presents a different perspective of Kathmandu.. .. I get it, it’s all in the presentation and projections… what your intention of narrative is…. The sounds particularly stands out for me for it’s the sound of Kathmandu in quite a few places…. But silence of some pockets within the city play its own role in its description. Those who accosted you are known as magantey by locals… most have come from Bihar, rajasthan, uttarpradesh… who are escaping poverty and unemployment in Indiia and looking for a lucrative begging business that offers them good fortune in Kathmandu. Everything aside, for me the best country in the world!

Namaste Josh! It was such a wonderful experience to watch this video. It's a masterpiece, one among very few from travellers making videos of Kathmandu, that depicted what Kathmandu truly feels like and sense like. I cannot imagine the hard task and immense labour that went to sum up this 32:45 video- the intro, voice over, editing and background score all seamlessly moved forward from the start until the end. Thank you very much for gifting us such marvellous memory of how things in Kathmandu actually is- without having to fabricate clickbait boring story or contents. It was amazing how this video stood out itself silently yet excellently in a pool of videos from random vloggers' edition to their first experience from Kathmandu/Nepal- in fact glad to have found this to my youtube algorithm. Great video, beautifully shot. Newari culture in the Kathmandu Valley, is not exclusively Nepali culture, it’s so more varied there are Budhists, Hindus and animists. There are different Jats (tribes) who speak there own languages, lots of them. There are Sherpa’s, Tibetans and so much more. The prayer wheels your friend turned he did anti-clockwise, the wrong way. I took my mother in law out Pashipatinath and she said to a woman who worked there that since the death of her husband, what was the point of living. The Nepalese woman, who was also a widow was fantastic She said you must enjoy life and enjoy every minute.

On Pashupatinath. What is the difference between burning the body so the matter returns to nature quickly. AND Burying it in the ground to rot slowly? Dust to Dust. Ashes to Ashes.
@JoshEdwardsFilms
@JoshEdwardsFilms 26 күн бұрын
Yep, it's a good point :) where I'm from in the UK, we still cremate if the person wishes it. But this cremation would not be held publicly - I think that's the key difference. Where I live in Indonesia, the Balinese Hindu population are cremating regularly, of course

Hi Josh, thank you so much for traveling to our beautiful country and promoting it on an international level! Your episodes on Nepal are great and have undoubtedly had a positive impact on Nepal's tourism sector. However, I wanted to point out a small correction: "Monkey Temple" is actually a misguided words for the "Swayambhu Nath" Temple, which has a rich history that deserves recognition, hence, I kindly request you and all KZbinrs for that matter to PLEASE USE ""Swayambhu Nath" Temple and AVOID USING the word "Monkey Temple" in all your contents. The name "Swayambhu" means "self-existent," and the temple's origins go back to ancient times, predating its formal establishment by King Manadeva in the 5th century. It's one of the holiest Buddhist sites in Nepal. Thank you for showcasing our culture and heritage so wonderfully! Oh! You are a great photographer too, the pictures you took of Kathmandu is 'speechless'.

Thank you so much for the very kind words 😁🙏 I appreciate you taking the time to watch and glad you enjoyed it. And about Swayambhunath - thanks for the extra insight. At the time of filming I wasn't sure about the real name so of course I just refer to it as "monkey temple" because I am a Western Tourist...but then I go and learn about it and wow 👌 such a special, fascinating place. Next time I will make sure I call it by the real name
