yeah and the drumbeat sounds reminds so much of Fresh Feeling. I feel you with Hombre Lobo, also think it was a turning point for him.. kinda grew out of a youthful state and ended his momentum. But looking back it contains many ingenious and beautiful songs imo

The Eels are positively my favourite band/music EVER, and I'm 68 so that statement covers a lot of really good bands and music, and p.s. that's not my picture... that's one of my sons and I'm just on his you tube site. PPS ... both sons really like the Eels, too!

Lyrics: The deconstruction has begun turn for me to fall apart and if you think that it was rough I tell you nothing changes till you start to break it down and break apart I'll break apart I'll break apart, right now, it's going to start I'll break apart The reconstruction will begin only when there's nothing left but little pieces on the floor that made up what I was before I had to break it down and break apart I'll break apart I'll break apart right now, it's going to start I'll break apart and every block you built on it's going to come right out and break apart I'll break apart I'll break apart right now, it's going to start I'll break apart right now, it's going to start I'll break apart I'll break apart I'll break apart

I want to write a song like Mr E does. This song. This song is perfect, its simple, its meaning is undisputable. Its everything, it encompasses the absurdity and the cyclical nature of this brief moment we call life. This moment with no answer, no cure to this terminal dilemma. But we feel and so we know we are still alive, his music has always reminded me that I am still alive, he speaks to me like nobody else does and when I hear his songs the static and the uncertainty in my brain hushes for a very tiny little while. How I wish I could meet him and ask if it ever gets better, knowing full well the answer. Perhaps we could cry about it? Man, that would be nice.

In 2013 you, E, signed my arm N.Y.C. Webster Hall. You signed with a surgeons scribe (non Toxic) @ the time I told you what I was going to do. You said I would regret it tomorrow.. I had it tattooed on exactly as you signed. I wanted to show you @ The Apollo Theater. I had front row center. I was in the mist of building another house, depressed & did not attend. Yeah I know, sick. Sick is how I was feeling @ the time. I am sure you can relate. I will NOT miss you this time around! You have got to see how your signature tattoo came out. And NO there has NOT been a minute of regret. Paying homage to a brilliant gentleman.

Yes! Sweet Mother Mary, yes! After four, count them, four long years of waiting... Four years! That's 48 months; 209 weeks; 1461 days; 35063 hours; 2103795 minutes; 126227704 seconds of waiting. Enough time for boys to become men and men to make boys! In fact, in that time a boy DID become a man, and men DID make boys! Uh, no causality implied, of course. Oh, man! I can't even begin to describe the ways in which E's music influenced my entire life! And I DO mean my ENTIRE life (thanks for that, dad!), give or take a few months inbetween my birth and the release of Beautiful Freak. Suffice it to say I own every EELS product I can get my grubby little mitts on, from all the well-known albums and books to obscure recordings of old radio interviews and B-sides collections and everything inbetween! Hardly a day goes by where I don't listen to at least one EELS song, and hardly a week goes by where I don't play at least one full record. My phone's music library is filled to the brim with amazing music of all kinds, yet more often than not it ends up being E who supplies the soundtrack to my city strolls, time and time again. And Electro-Shock Blues? Well, I've listened to that record so many times I know it by heart. And I never tire of it. And anytime I feel those blues, I just put on the record, allow myself to be properly sad, as a wise man once said on KCRW radio, and by the time P.S. You Rock My World comes around, I'm reminded that the world isn't such a bad place after all. Uh... Where was I going with this? Was I even going somewhere to begin with? Anyway, point being that after four long years I can finally continue on my lifelong journey alongside the soundtrack it deserves. Deserves? Needs, at any rate. From the bottom of my heart, E: thank you. Thank you for pushing through all of life's shit and still finding the strength to enrich and perk up the lives of others. Others like me. You're special, E. And I might not even be here writing this comment if it weren't for you and your music. Thank you.

It depends on what kind of venue you go to see them in whether it's seated or standing. I saw them five years ago when it was full on rock and roll but it didn't turn into a mosh pit or anything like it. Eels fans are usually a fairly sedate bunch so I wouldn't be worried about that. I'd say go. Eels live is always a bit special.
