The most stupid thing till now is that before you rank up a driver level you have to race against higher rated players with worse safety rating which just ram you and destroy both of your ratings.

I just started playing online after playing GT 1-2-3-4-5-Sport and 7. Im C and S for now and people are MOSTLY clean. Yesterday I made a mistake and pushed a guy in the last corner, barely touched him, but still last corner. He lost a spot. I feel bad ever since.

I think you are over looking that this is the system that people are asking for when they say they want a better damage model in GT7. The rammer takes near race ending damage for ramming and the person who was rammed does not. In this game front end damage is worst to the car than rear or side panel damage so the person who punts you off his race is pretty much done while the person who was rammed has potential to still be competitve. It solves the problem across all drivers skillsets because it doesn't matter to me why you rammed me, I just don't want you to be able to finish the race after you've done it. Yes, it is frustrating to be hit by another driver because they've lost control of their car, but perhaps it will stop people who are less skilled from attempting to drive like a crazy person without the skill to do so. The message PD is sending here , is race clean or your race maybe over.

I am in C myself and about 50% of the time the incidents are something like an (accidental) pit maneuver that sends one person directly into Barry R. You lose time, your car potentially has damage on both ends and to make it the perfect trifecta of shit you get penalty time for spinning over the track limits. 🙂

7th place finisher here. I'm not sure if I'd agree with the fact that heavy damage has fixed dirty driving. It's not like it was acting as a deterrent for people not to hit each other, I think it was more of a case of a bunch of good drivers in slow cars on a track that prioritises racecraft and car placement. I had quite a few light scrapes and bumps yesterday (with you in some races too), and never picked up any damage. If someone wanted they could still easily push you out the way. Having said this I'd still rather heavy damage be on because eventually yeah it will reduce chaos. Nice racing with you!

Agree, but you have a lobby of respectful S drivers. I have a feeling in B,C,D,E DR drivers with SR ratings of B,C,D, it still could get ugly.

@@Stripes__ Thats why every even a bit competetive racing game needs a report system that eventually reaches human eyes. Im playing ACC where I can report people and it WILL reach someone, and if they are dirty, they will get a penalty (or even a ban if it happens too often). People tend to be overly aggressive, but never dirty, as dirty will just get you banned.

I don't comment often on your videos, Rory, but you are spot on. I've been an advocate for HD for a while, and it was noticeable that driving behaviour in this race was VERY different. I'd like to see a medium-term trial of HD in Race C. It'd take a while for the behaviour to change. Not just one week. The other big thing I would recommend is a trial of a 5 minute qualifying session before each Race C, like GTWS Manufacturers. Well done.

Dirty Driving is a bad thing, I totally agree on that. But I think GT7 has a lot of other Problems PD should care about. The Fact that your DR goes down even when you finished on a higher Position than you started. Or the thing that only your two best Results count in Championship with three or four Races. Or that all Players with a certain DR are in one Leauge but a Player with an higher Rating in that specific DR gets more Points for Example.

I like heavy damage for A/B drivers. Less skilled drivers will struggle. I think PD made it only 7 laps and low tyre wear so there would be no pit stop to fix damage. Lots of lower ranked drivers would DNF due to boredom if there were more laps.

They should have a "real life" mode where if you hit someone, you spin out into the gravel, you don't move, and depending on the damage, you dont get to race again.

While heavy damage is better than nothing, I don't think it's going to solve much in the lower ranks. People get mad when they're passed or out driven and then they turn to "if I'm not going to win, you're not either" and they become vindictive and punt you. They don't care if their car gets damaged, they got back at you. Wish there was a way to make habitual offenders race as ghosts for a lap, or in future races. I just got GT7 for Christmas and the unpunished activities have taken away my urge to play online races/daily races.

I typically to daily B races. I keep getting rammed aggressively and it results in my DR and SR going down, even though my driving is otherwise clean. I’ve even had penalties in certain situations. This doesn’t always happen, but I’m a C driver struggling to get to B because I keep getting dragged down by rammers before I can achieve B. I have the pace and I try my best to stay clean, but these guys can really kill the experience.

Coming through the corkscrew at Laguna and out of nowhere I get rammed and sent flying into the wall. Ended up with a 5 second penalty, finished last place and both my DR and SR went down. Pretty discouraging stuff when this happens.

But just have to perservere with it, usually with a controller i have no issue dealing with rammers or baiting them into sending a missile into a wall for my own amusement, but i recently switched to a wheel setup and man they really kill it as it takes longer to recover and gives their shenanigans a lot more power. I really wish the game would do more to punish these dud players intent on ruining the game for everyone.

Back in GT5 we had penalties and damage options but nobody liked them because everyone raced casually. We had clean races with casual players, meaning that they could commit big mistakes, causing their entire race to be ruined if we had damages on. It wasn't fun for anyone, unless you played in hardcore races. Most Gran Turismo playes want to race casually and have fun after a long day of work. That's where Gran Turismo succeeds. If you want actual hardcore/realistic races, go to iracing, lol

Recently got a wheel stand for my entry level logi g29 generally i do quite well with a control in C rank with a S driver rating but i am now finding it hard to maintain control of the car if i start anywhere near the middle or back end of the pack, one rammer or even nudge causes me to spin and it takes a lot longer to recover, im determined to keep at it and find the right settings for the wheel though. People are so dirty though and it does ruin the game a lot

Just got the wheel myself its quite a bit different than the controller. Couldn't control the stick well, nerve problems sucks bad... but wheel is so much different can't wait to get online and race! Waiting a while till I get a good handle on this wheel buisness.

@@frizzlefry1921 Once you use the wheel the controller is not anywhere near as fun. What i have found is if its the start of the race in a thick pack or you have a feeling there is someone that is going to ram or nudge you off the track turn traction control up until its safer to go back down, it does help the car stay on the track somewhat, otherwise it almost immediatley spins and you can't catch it like a controller. I also have my steering sensitivity quite high and force feedback around 6 and sensitivity around 8 or 10. I managed to win a daily a the other day luckily the lobby was clean and almost copped p6 in B until this d*ckhead rammed me off michelin to recover for 8th. Just keep at it its more rewarding playing this way but man is it equally as frustrating

We have asked for a fair while that they do the heavy damage along with heavy penalties as it will put more responsibility on drivers to race fair and properly. Now they havent done the heavy penalties (yet) but they have been utilising the heavy damage more the past few months i think to great effect, so hopefully it is a change they stick with going forward

Awesome race. Unfortunately for me over in Oceania, I still face too many bumpers. Almost like an S SR rating is too easy to get.

FULL damage has always been a good thing to keep it civil. Games with no damage and flashbacks etc are just chaos.
