Rory - I 'raced' Laguna Seca some years ago playing Need For Speed, Hot Pursuit 2, on-line. I was by no means the fastest, but I did get better at it over time. You're a 'smooth' driver, I would say, but to me Laguna Seca required a bit more 'roughness' at certain points - particularly the corkscrew, and the final turn before the start/finish line. At the corkscrew, you have to straighten out the quick left then right as much as possible, and a bit of violence on the wheel is indicated. Good Luck!

I struggle with lap after lap, I’m never going to be the quickest as I can’t put as much time in as I would like, but I find if I walk away after I’ve hit the mental wall and comeback I’m usually always quicker. Great video Rory 🏁

Hey. I am in this very moment 152 in the world with a time of 1:19:814. I use a T300. What I wanna say with this is that if you keep trying and trying and trying, finally you may succeed. To not give up I use the 40% rule. This consists on when your mind wants to quit, you can do 60% more. I don’t know if I’ll succeed but I hope it helps. Thanks Rory for the video ❤.

Great video I’m in the 1:20.7 you have a lot of patience to do so many laps. These top player are in a league of there own to be 1.5 seconds off. Shows how good they really are getting every corner precise as they are at the exact speed right on the edge. Hats off to them.

I had to put in 10 days of sessions here just to barely step into the gold territory. You have beaten my time on your very first stint, great driving! I'm on a controller, so getting near the top is particularly hard for me. As for the top 1: if I remember correctly, Kylian was clocking hundreds of laps per day to make this 1.18 lap a reality. Amazing dedication and work ethic! The difference between top 0.1% and top 1 is an insane amount of work and practice. It's his full-time job at this point.

Mind you, I'm a D-rank racer (have only done a handful of Sport races so far), but seeing an A+ driver like yourself struggle as much as I do (albeit on a different level) makes me feel better about my own skill. Plus it makes you much more relatable than the guys cranking out 1:18s, which makes for much better content from your end. So far for me I'm getting 50/50 bronze and silver, closest I got to gold was on High Speed Ring, where I was only 0.2s off or so, but just couldn't improve any further.

I've found for time trialing it can be super beneficial to have the top time ghosts up but use the reset each sector option, since it helps identify pain points in the lap, better lines and the like.

Recently I found my happy place hot lapping. Just because of the dirty driving in the daily races is so frustrating. Race after race ruined by fragile egos... Hot lapping is ace Good video!!

This time trial isn't just in GT7, but ACC and iRacing as well, and I just so happened to have all three. Used my Logitech G Pro Wheel that has TrueForce, in which thankfully all three titles have TrueForce support. In GT7, I got a 1:20.556, 1:22.717 in ACC, and then a 1:23.509 on iRacing. To my observation, the braking points were practically the same, but on "how" you brake across all three titles are different, although GT7's braking is somewhat similar to that of iRacing's. In regards of the physics and the car handling all across the board, GT7's was more like a "point and shoot" when driving, ACC was more "flamboyant", "flashy", and at times, "exploitive", where you can use quite a bit of slip angle to your advantage and not lose too much time at all, and then iRacing was all about "smoothness" and making sure you do not increase your tire temperature's too much if you were to be sliding for a good number of times, otherwise you lose tenths the more laps you do from that point. It's a very interesting observation on how all three games interpret on how the same car should be driven depending on the title. Obviously GT7 is the easiest of the three, but when trying to squeeze out as much tenths as possible, it takes just as much effort like the other two sims on PC. I feel like thanks to this time trial and having all three titles to do it, I now feel as if I have achieved maximum versatility with my driving style entirely where I can enjoy sim racing on a far grander scale.

I'm at 20.6, my goal is 20.2. My god how difficult it is! Sometimes I come close, but this track has some very difficult curves, sometimes I do a beautiful lap, it seems perfect, and the weather gets bad. Other times a bad lap, slipping, makes for excellent time. I can do times around 1.20 with just the ghost, without it it's 21.

this TT was a nightmare for me as well. I usually can get into the golden 3% after 30 minutes or so, sometimes in the first 5 laps. Here I drove on 3 separate days and got stuck on 1:22.1 and hoping to just stay in the gold.

On the last turn, stay in 3rd. It will feel really weird and it's definitely not how you drive in the real world. But the car pulls back a maximum of like 5 milliseconds. Just try it out. If it doesn't work no biggie.

I tried this time trial earlier, that car handles like a pig in my opinion, it doesn't suit my driving style. Best i could do before i gave up is about 0.800 away from silver. Granted I've only been playing gt7 on and off (around 35 hours total play time) as my pc is my main gaming device.
