Hi David - Thanks for the great review. I'm just signing up for 500mb broadband and it comes with 2 eero 6 plus routers, so the review was very useful. At present as I'm in a rural area I get 1.5mb download and 0.36 upload so really looking forward to getting something better.

Nice. That's going to be a huge step up in speed. 😄 Hopefully it means you'll get a reliable connection all throughout your house now as well.

Thanks for the helpful review on placement with a diagram and an easy to follow test setup! Could you try and place the 3rd eero6+ in Bedroom 2 or the Living Area and test if it increases speed in the home office? I'd be interested as being closer to Bedroom 1 may mean it picks up a higher bandwidth to re-project down the line to the other eero6+'s

No worries! Great suggestion - I placed the 3rd device in Bedroom 2. I was able to get roughly an extra 100-150Mbps in my home office by doing that. I also tested the 3rd device in the hallway near the entrance of the house - results were similar. Both were better than the setup I had in the video.

wait wait wait, you have a gigabyte plan bat only getting less than 200? thats an L. idk how big your house is but when we set up our nighthawk mesh my speed from 20mbs went up to 250+ and our plan is 250mbs. so im assuming there should be a way for you to get your full 1gb speed. try putting the 3d mesh in between 1 and 2 to chain the connection

Thanks. Yep speed and coverage is still good. I'm getting consistently fast speeds throughout my entire house. Haven't had a single issue. I was even able to get 73Mbps from within our shed in the backyard.

So how did the speeds turn out in your shed? 🙃 Considering getting a three pack for 3 storey house and hoping it copes

Today I'm getting 30-40Mbps down and 15-30Mbps up in the shed. About 1/3 of what I'm getting in the office 150 Mbps down and 50 Mbps up.

Is there a way to get the full 880mbps performance throughout the house with this setup? If not, do you have a recommendation for any gear that could achieve gigabit speeds over mesh networks?
@techwithdavidolding
@techwithdavidolding 12 күн бұрын
Tbh I don't know. These eero devices are the first mesh routers I've tried so I don't have much to compare it against. I'd suggest looking at top reviews for other mesh router devices to see if it can be achieved. Othherwise I'd say run cables through your house (in the roof + walls)

Why not run cables from the fibre point to where you want the router.

I am using an eero in my living room but I keep dropping connection upstairs would a second router be better than an extender? I am so confused by it all
@MIGGYME1

Definitely get another eero. Whats the sqft of your home?
@techwithdavidolding
@techwithdavidolding Ай бұрын
The main difference that I found was the router has two network ports while the extender does not. If you're connecting devices over wifi only - the extender will do and it's a bit cheaper. If you want to plug devices into it with a network cable then you'll need the router.

Does superloop send you the eero router to replace your existing one or to add another router to your home?

Hi mate ive got a question. So talktalk has provided me with the eero 6 as the gateway to the modem. However i looking to buy more eeros to extend the range to other rooms. If i buy a 3 pack from amazon, can ill this be 1 new gateway and 2 extenders, or it will be i can use all 3 as extenders? Another question is if i go for the 6+ which is different to the talk talk provided eero6, if i replace that gateway with the new 6+ will it cause any problems with my existing setup? Thanks mate
@techwithdavidolding
@techwithdavidolding 2 ай бұрын
It depends what you want to do. They should all work seamlessly together. The main difference between the router and extender is the router has network ports so you can plug devices directly into them, while the extenders do not. If you buy a 3 pack all 3 devices will work the same across your network. So you'll have the eero 6 provided by talktalk + your new 3 devices on top of that. From the eero website it looks like you can use the 6 and 6+ devices together (although they don't recommend it). If you want to have the new 6+ gateway as your main router and use your existing 6 provided by talktalk as an extender instead that should be fairly straight forward. From my experience once you add the new devices to your network it will automatically pick up all of your network configuration settings - you can simply then just reposition the devices as you see fit.

The links in your description don't take me to the Eero products. I'm getting an Echo Dot for the router link and a Netgear wifi booster for the Wifi extender link. Thanks

Hey, Thanks for letting me know. 🙏 I'm relatively new to Amazon affiliates so still trying to figure it all out. I think Amazon automatically redirects people to similar products based on the country they are from. If you're not based from a select group of countries like the US/UK/AU it may try to redirect you to similar products. I'll do some more research to see if I can get it to work correctly for viewers from all countries.

Hey David I have a quick question to ask? After setting up connecting the Eero WiFi using the Ethernet cable on my wireless router. Do I still have to use the Ethernet cable or can I use the Eero without Ethernet cable? Please help before purchasing it?
@techwithdavidolding
@techwithdavidolding 2 ай бұрын
I'm not sure I understand the question. Do you have an existing wireless router, and you're looking to use the eero devices to extend your existing range using your current wireless router with eero devices? I'm not sure if that will work... I've seen mixed answers online. Some saying yes you can, while others saying no avoid it at all costs. support.eero.com/hc/en-us/articles/207852693-Does-eero-replace-my-modem If you buy the Eero router that will have to plug into your modem (the thing which provides internet access to your home) with the physical ethernet cable. All additional Eero routers/extenders will work over wifi - no ethernet cables required. I'd recommend using all eero devices for your mesh network. But if you have an existing wifi router and want to keep using it, see if there are videos of others who have been able to get it working well. It's not something I've tried, and online forums are giving mixed answers.

I think you are confusing terminology, but I think I understand your question: If your Internet Service Provider provided a box that connects to the internet line, this is likely a Modem + Wifi Router Combo. If that is the case, the box will still have to act as a modem. The modem part is what actually processes the data between the ISP and your home. So, that means that you still need to keep the ethernet cable connected between your modem/router combo box and the main Eero router. The rest of the Eero's can connect via the mesh (no ethernet) and any other device on your home that has Wifi does not need to be connected with an ethernet cable as well.

Eero sucks. My 6+ started failing and just disconnecting on the 8th month of owning it. For the next several weeks, it just kept disconnecting, and each time I had to manually reset, unplugged and reboot the system. Called Eero customer service several times and would not honor my warranty for a replacement even when I am still under the one year warranty. All they want me to do was to just troubleshoot each time I called. Each time they trouble shoot, it takes an hour long to go each steps. The disconnection still keeps on happening. It was obvious the equipment was defective and they would not honor my warranty to replace it. Stay away from Eero, they wasted my time and money. Their product and customer service sucks so bad!

Oh man that sucks. If you're in Australia you could raise a complaint with Eero and then the ACCC to hopefully get your money back. There are strong consumer protection laws to prevent this kind of thing. Not sure about other countries though.

The eero is totally garbage and would not recommend anyone to buy unless you are using it standing right next to it. I’ve had to change internet provider because the eero is all they now supply. I’ve up graded from the eero to the eero 6 to the pro and all perform the same. I would need to run Ethernet cables all over my house and install boosters.

Sounds like you had an unpleasant experience with your ISP (Internet Service Provider). Eero 6+ are mesh router devices. They only control speeds within your home network. If you have a bad ISP, the best routers in the world won't make a difference. Hope you managed to switch and find a better provider.
