I understand they wanted to utilize the new day/night cycle and friendship mechanics, but I always felt like Umbreon and Espeon should have evolved using the moon stone and sun stone respectively. 4:59. Technically Eevee is officially an amalgamation of many things. It was apparently designed to be a creature that you've seen before, but only caught a glimpse of. An animal in the corner of your eye, or running away from you quickly, obscured by the tall grass. Was it a dog? A Cat? A bunny? A fox? It's officially the "it's something, but I don't entirely know what" Pokémon. I suppose that's why it's the DNA Pokémon; it was made to be a mixture of many things and not one thing in particular.

During my playthrough of Pokemon Yellow, I was also doing a Pokemon Trainer Challenge, where I used the same team as Red in Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal! Eevee kind of felt like the weak link in my team, but he was still helpful now and then. His moves were Body Slam, Double Team, Bite, and Quick Attack.

I want to see if Bruno can beat you this time, since I'm not sure how helpful Mimic will be for him and I feel like Hitmonlee in particular should be a major roadblock for the poor cat-fox-thing. Also interested in seeing what level you need to reach to beat Agatha, since I just looked at her Yellow team, and yikes. After watching, that was a lot easier than I expected it to be. Especially Agatha, first try with mostly Lick is amazing, even if getting a consistent victory was very difficult. I really underestimated the doge when I said it must've been worse than Pikachu. Also, 5:10 The moon is a giant rock, so it should give a Rock-type Eeveelution.

bide saved my indirect damage only run. i started with a koffing that knew poison gas & smokescreen, thankfully theres no poison types to fight before brock in yellow but you need it almost immediately afterwards to beat an ekans and some weedle on the way to mt moon. I used it out of necessity at first, but by the end of the game weezing with bide was still one of my most dependable pokemon. even if bide often did nothing, I often had to resort to doing nothing during my turns anyway, to let the status afflictions do their job, so bide was sort of a nice insurance policy that helped conserve pp for other moves. and if I had leech seed set up, all the better.

@@grundgutigertv6170 i also evolved my haunter into gengar so it could learn counter, which haunter cant learn but gengar can. during this run I discovered the confusion counter glitch, where if you use counter on a foe that hurts itself in confusion, counter will hit them for x2 confusion damage. just an interesting beside. gengar & magmar are the best pokemon for this though since they are the only ones who can learn counter & confuse ray

My Pokémon journey began with Yellow Version. As a kid, I always insisted that my experience was tougher than all my Red/Blue games, but nobody ever believed me. Glad that I am now, as a 30 year old man, validated that my Pokémon journey began on a harder game. Glad to be proven right 🤣

I hope you get to read this since I think this will help a lot with some of your playthroughs. Substitute might help make Agatha more consistent. Substitute is very weird in generation 1 as it won't protect you from status moves other than confusion but I still think it can be helpful in combination with rest to regain your health and prevent the opponent from confusing you. It also prevents the opponent from using status lowering moves like sand attack or tail whip which can help a lot. I think substitute will only really help with pokemon with limited move sets as it can't do much without rest as you will likely hemorrhage hp. But the AI likes using useless moves or status moves, I think there are a lot of opportunities you can use to set up substitute. It can also be used to set up against powerful pokemon like Rhydon to block a potentially devastating attack or stall till it does something stupid. For example against Agatha you can set up a sub before she has a chance to troll you and since Agatha's AI is random she will likely waste turns even if she happens to hit with hypnosis first turn. Looking at the first gengar the only way it can hurt you is mega drain which probably won't break the substitute giving you a good opportunity to use it. I hope this strategy works for some pokemon that struggle against Agatha, sand attack, or earthquakes. But be warned do NOT use substitute on an exploding pokemon or Lance. Hyper beam will not need to recharge and explosion will prevent the opponents pokemon from fainting if you have a sub up.

Substitute is just very slow to obtain from a real time and in game time perspective. But it is certainly a massive consistency boost for most frail Pokémon. Especially in this situation where the first Gengar isn’t particularly offensively powerful. I used Subsitute in my butterfree vs beedrill follow up, it was really good there.

8:24 Oof, I can't believe Eevee is having so much trouble here... Actually, I kind of can, since Pikachu would be able to defeat Misty's Gym trainers easily. I guess when all you have is tackle, tail whip, sand attack, and growl, you don't have a lot of options. Thank goodness for Body Slam, though.
