The Up prologue lasts 4 minutes. In Fellowship of the Ring, Boromir's entire story is played out in 26 minutes of screentime. The entire experience of the first Toy Story movie is encased in 75 mins of runtime. You can do a huge amount in very little time if you write with purpose, intent, and precision. When you don't do that, you will will find it incredibly easy to fill entire hours of a show with nothing. See Agatha. See Rings of Power. See Ahsoka. It's effortless.

"Agatha All Along may not top WandaVision, but it’s still one of Marvel’s stronger television efforts ... a spooky, fantastical journey unlike any other. Though the story is uneven and at times frustrating, it’s also an incredibly enjoyable thriller made all the more intriguing by a cast of colorful characters." _Agatha All Along:_ 8/10 --IGN "It’s tempting to pat The Penguin on the back for at least trying something ... Oz withers in the spotlight of The Penguin - when he’s not overshadowed by ally-turned-enemy-turned-ally-turned-enemy-again Sofia Falcone ... worships at the altars of The Godfather, Goodfellas, Scarface, The Sopranos, and Breaking Bad, but Sofia’s family are no Corleones, Oz is no Tony, and in these eight episodes, they’re not given the time or space to get anywhere close to those crime-drama landmarks ... The mob drama being built around Oz requires something grander and more operatic to succeed. Unfortunately, The Penguin lacks the chops, the wit, and the wings to reach those heights." _The Penguin:_ 5/10 --IGN two comic book shows - two comic book streaming SPIN-OFF shows. one is praised for being frustrating and uneven but ultimately a "spooky, fantastical journey unlike any other", the other is dimly merited for "at least trying something", then compares that show negatively to _Breaking Bad, Goodfellas_ and _The_ fucking _Godfather._ so, writers of the world: if you go for something light and totally insubstantial, you are rewarded for doing so and awarded based on entertainment. but if you try for something more, you get slammed for not being _The Godfather._ so in summation, writers of the world, write something goony and approachable and sloppy or don't bother unless you happen to be making something as good as the best media ever made.

The former is immediately and relentlessly played for laughs, and the latter is portrayed as a noble yet bittersweet sacrifice. @@mr.barcode3186 The issue is just how bad the writers are at accounting for things that ought to be public knowledge. The Kaplans think (or at least thought) he’s amnesiac, which would account for changes in _our_ world...but there have been so many high-profile cases of mind control, shapeshifters, etc that there ought to be no excuse for them thinking ‘Oh, he acts like a completely different person after we were near that crazy magic event. He’s probably fine.’ In a story that’s well-written, them not realizing it’s not him _would_ be screwed up...but that’s not what we’re dealing with, sadly. It’s also pretty disturbing that he just treats the body like it’s his now. He has no reason to believe that the original soul wasn’t forced out by his intrusion, and even if he did it’s crazy his only reservation about _dating with it_ is cold feet when his BF intended to say ‘I love you’ using his stolen body’s name. But that’s just the latest thing in a long line of ‘Things that the writers creepily don’t consider to be screwed up.’

Interesting and a little depressing to hear about what movies they watched as kids. I am old enough that when we were kids we didn't have favorite re-watched movies since home and physical media didn't really exist then. We watched whatever movie happened to play on T.V. on on Disney's Sunday night movie. Beta/VHS didn't hit accessibility until late in my childhood and even then it wasn't commonplace. Having said that, "The Rescuers" was my favorite at that time.

*Agatha:* "Your way actually saved a live, you saved Jen. I was just gonna kill everyone on day one!" Even this is wrong because Sharon wasn't a witch and didn't have any magic to shoot at Agatha and be sucked to death. So there would've been one person left alive either way (unless Agatha went all "no witnesses" on Sharon and killed her after, I guess).

I just realized that Lilia acts like Agatha has a reputation for killing people and you'd have to be a fool to join her coven. But the flashback makes it look like none of the witches new about Agatha's deeds because she never left any witnesses, and apparently they trusted her enough to keep coming to her to lead them to the witch's road. So when and how did these rumors of her evil deeds begin? Also, Rio said that if she kills Billy herself, he'll just reincarnate again. Which means if Billy ever dies of natural causes, he'll just hop into another body? And he can just keep doing that forever until he chooses to die? Wiccan can't die!

He’s 19 and I’ve had him for 19 years our apartment caught fire once (his terrarium was on the floor which saved him) and we were once robbed and once we were so poor I applied for food stamps and missed it by making $1 too much he survived it all. Think about how interesting an embodiment of death could be in the MCU… Imagine they were pissed off by the events of Infinity War and Endgame… seeing it as some sort of cosmic crime of sorts… but had their hands metaphorically tied because it was something done by the infinity stones… the most powerful* items in the universe… Imagine they just got done sorting through whatever process to account for all the souls that had died… only for those same souls to be brought back and having to undo said process. That could be interesting. What does Death think about having someone fuck with concept of inevitably? Are they resentful towards thanos? The avengers? And now I got to remember that this is Agatha all Along, and I shouldn’t be putting this much effort into caring… cuz the writers sure as hell didn’t… man… Why does the MCU got to be so shit now? I don’t get Rags’s criticism of Lilia experiencing her life endlessly. Imagine if your life was chopped up into pieces and rearranged for you to experience. Just because some (or in this case, one) of those clips winds up after your death does not change the fact that you will eventually run out of clips. I don’t know why Rags seems to think she’s already experienced that specific memory before. The show is still atomic horseshit btw.

The whole thing of that one witches constantly reliving moments from her past feels like a cheap imitation of the literary novel Slaughterhosue Five. The novel is kind of a bizarre one where the narrator writes a book about a character who is 'unstuck in time' (the narrative flashes between times of his mundane life after world war two and his time as a prisoner of war during ww2 and the dresden firebombing) and is abducted by aliens who have 4 dimensional sight that shows them that all of time is one ever present existence, and through the frequent repetition of the phrase 'so it goes' instills a sense of nihilism in the character and narrative, because everything has already been decided for him, if he's even giving us an accurate story at all. I'm not the biggest fan of the book, but it certainly does some interesting things with the layers of narration and the hopelessness in the main character of the story makes sense with what he's gone through. This is all to say that it's much more artfully done than Agatha and actually grapples with the implications of someone stuck in those kinds of time loops. The show wants to introduce the concept to impress the audience, but it doesn't want to deal with any of the ramifications that it would have on that person

The scenario with Gay kid hijacking a dead kids body is way worse than the Wonder Woman 84 one. The guy in WW84 banged a goddess and ultimately got his body back at the end. Gay kid is not only wearing dead kids body like a skinsuit but also being the biggest fairy imaginable using it with no off switch. Assuming the dead kid was also gay too isn't how being possessed by a completely different person works. Not surprised that landmine wasn't touched by the people on the panel despite it dwarfing WW84.

I wish I was in on this call to explain the cosmology of the marvel universe in the comics as it makes way more sense with the valid questions everyone is asking thinking it contradicts itself.The MCU doesn't clairfy that Aubrey plaza is the cosmic factorial entity know as death along with the other cosmic entities. The other gods of death are subordinate to the one in this show as she is the true death and that there aren't multiple versions of her across the multiverse for instance there is only ***one her/it*** that is responsible for death across all possible instances of reality . The infinity stones would not affect her because they only affect things in the universe they inhabit as what people don't understand about them is they also exist across multiple realities manipulating whatever laws of physics and existence represented there.The 616 universe version of the infinity stones for instance that is being focused on in the MCU before marvel was sold to Disney only work in 616 as if they were brought to other universes they would just be rocks with no abilities, but death is a multiversal enitity who can only be harmed by other cosmic beings like infinity, eternity, the living tribunal, etc(there are a handful more) and their boss the One above all. This is why none of this really contradicts itself by there being different localized cultural versions of death like Hela, taweret, hades etc who all exist in marvel as death beings who represent death for which there are millions if not more across the universe and multiverse based on the planetary or univere cultures as they are gods which are lesser being compared to her and not the abstract "Death" that Aubrey Plaza is portraying in this terrible show to clear this up. lol

They want to be in a relationship with a man, but they also want to hang out with their guy friends and party. And if the man objects to that, then these women take that as a sign that the man is insecure and controlling. And these women don't want that, because they are strong and independent and don't need no man. I wonder if these women, especially from younger generations (Gen Z downwards), think of themselves as birthing person rather than a mother.

Death being unable to touch Billy is a premise that could be great in a much smarter show. It’s straight out of the Twilight Zone, like Death just has to stand by as a man keeps coming back to live countless lives, witnessing the arc of human history, using his power to change its course, then either getting bored or ruminating on his condition and realizing he’s an affront to God or the natural order or whatever and robbing people of their own choices, so after like a thousand years of this he surrenders to Death to make things right and goes into the afterlife to watch the rest of humanity’s story play out. Great stuff. But the idiot writers don’t even realize the potential of what they’re working with.
@_e1i19 күн бұрын
In fairness though it’s not just Agatha’s writers but the whole MCU has completely wasted the cosmic entities so far
