I hate coincidence that makes the protagonist be the key to everything. Not the reverse, where being the key makes them the protagonist, that makes sense. But like the maze runner, where we find out in the end of the last one that the protagonist just so happens to have the special cure blood. Same applies here, but even dumber. Barrys mom not having soup makes zod win? And its just coincidence? Not even that her dying is what makes flash happen, and he saves the day, cuz if that were the case they would be able to beat zod cuz a version of flash is there. Or that a specific version of flash has to be there cuz he has a power the others dont? Its just coincidental butterfly effect?

How interesting could it be to examine the world from an experienced speedster's view? Flash tends to separate Normal Speed from 5000X Speed, but in reality, if you have the reflexes, you experience time very, very slowly. A single day should feel like an ETERNITY to a speedster. What if a speedster CHOOSES to stay drugged/debuffed so they don't go mad from how the entire world moves at an unbearably slow pace compared to themself, and they would have to make the decision to unleash their full power to save someone, which would also make life torturous for them?

You know, in retrospect, wouldn't it have been better to make main timeline Barry the evil Barry? Like, he's the one who abuses his powers to go back in time, he's the one complaining about being the "janitor" for the justice league (and by that logic, considers saving lives to be meanial work, AND that being a janitor is in fact, a meanial task), he's the one who gives up on the Keeton-verse, he's the one who pratically all but forces Barry 2 to want to throw away his casual life so he can become the flash even though he *really* doesnt need to, *AND* he's the one who's kinda totally ok with letting that whole universe die despite it being a universe that's *BETTER* off. How many universes can say Gotham is basically crime-free and Batman is *HAPPILY* retired? No regrets, no caveats? Like, shouldn't Barry 2's desire to save everyone, even Barry 1, be what sets him apart from Barry 1? Because Barry 1 is A-OK with the erasure of Barry 2's life, family, and universe as long as *HE* gets out ahead in some fashion. Like, the *REAL* play here would have been to have Barry 1 be upset that Barry 2 wants to *KEEP* trying to save his own timeline from Zod. They could argue about it, and Barry 2 could point out that his parents didn't raise him to be a quitter. They told him there's always a solution to a problem and that he shouldn't give up on something just because it hasn't come to him right away. It'd be a nice point of contrast, Barry 1 being brought up in the abysmally bleak Snyder-verse falls to fatalism and discontent, while Barry 2 who was brought up in a stable and happy home, in a universe that seems more stable and happy than Barry 1's, might make Barry 1 kinda jealous. Jealous enough to want *THAT* life for *HIMSELF.* Over and over they repeat it, Barry 2 gets back up and keeps fighting for his universe, Barry 1 gets more and more frustrated they're making no progress. The two bicker, and argue, until ultimately in a heated moment Barry 2 asks if Barry 1 would be happier if his mother were alive to see him giving up on himself. This pisses Barry 1 off enough that he decides he's had enough of Barry 2, and goes back to kill him. He starts blaming Barry 2 for everything. He blames him for holding him back, he blames him for wasting his time, he blames him for not being able to see what they really need to do because he doesnt realize how futile their efforts are and insists on showing him, that it's the only way he'll "get it" -- and he goes to kill him in the past. Barry 1 thinks that, if he kills Barry 2 in the past and lives his life till Barry 1 shows up in that timeline, than the NEW Barry 2 (who will be Barry 1) will have what it takes to help the NEW Barry 1 save the day. Barry 2 thinks this is a load of shit, discovers Barry 1 is desperate and in denial, and has to now stop himself from killing himself. Barry 1 can grow more and more furious with his loathing and envy growing more and more evident until we reach the point where Barry 1 essentially *becomes* Reverse Flash. He and Barry 2 rush backward in time, duking it out. Barry 2 isn't going to kill Barry 1 because he understands Barry 1's pain, but he's not gonna let him fuck up the timeline any further by making more alterations and he's certainly not gonna let Barry 1 kill him. Barry 1 promises, he swears, that he will do anything and everything in his power to make Barry 2's life a living hell. Barry 2 says he'll never give up on Barry 1. They fight, Barry 2 solves the Kryptonian problem by tossing Barry 1 into Zod at like, 2 gajillion MPH at the right time, saving Super Girl who turns around and mercs Zod and stops the floopisms. Now Barry 1 would have to deal with Barry 2 *and* Super Girl, he's low on calories, so he just decides to fuck off for now. We end with Barry 2, Super Girl, and Batman saving the day, and for one fucking time in this universe members of the Justice League are actual looking forward with genuine optimism and hope for working for a better future. We set up a formidable Reverse Flash who isn't just some wacko from the future who *REALLY* hates Barry, and we have a suitable foundation to build other films out from.

Holy Grail is the better movie, I feel, but people say that Life Of Brian is better because it feels more fresh. Like, The Holy Grail is so ingrained in pop culture that without even seeing the movie you know about the bunny, the Holy Hand Grenade, the black knight, all of the best jokes, basically. Life Of Brian feels so much more impactful because of that. It's like how people will say that Reservoir Dogs is better than Pulp Fiction, even though Pulp Fiction is the better movie. It's because not a lot of people talk about Reservoir Dogs, but everyone talks about Pulp Fiction. So, the betrayal and ending in Reservoir Dogs can have more of an impact if you watch it now than the twists in Pulp Fiction can have if you watch it for the first time now. But, paradoxically, the fact that The Holy Grail and Pulp Fiction were able to have that effect on pop culture that everyone is at least aware of the plot points even without seeing the movies makes them better than Life Of Brian or Reservoir Dogs. Like, the fact that you can watch the movies and think "Oh boy, here comes that part that has been memed to death in pop culture," is a testament to how great they are, even though it de-fangs them.

I heard from listening to a stream this movie is called "The Trash" and I have to agree. Even with my personal annoyance of multiverses(Spider-verse is the exception) with superhero films, it takes a special kind of skill to make this kind of movie. WTF. It says a lot when the animated Flashpoint did more with the concept than this movie ever did and in LESS time. And even if we ignore this movie, Spider-Man No Way Home did everything this movie did better. Yes, NWH has its own problems, but at least the cameos had purpose beyond key jangling and the basic story was decent(a bet flawed). This movie you can tell it's been reworked to death and considering how much money was spent on reshoots, this is going to go down as the MOST expensive superhero film ever made. And with the current box office, it's going to flop. The Snyderverse ends on a whimpering note. I hope that James Gunn's reboot is good because seeing DC fail like this hurts my soul.

On a few different levels, there should be an army of Flash’s: 1) They now know how to hook people into the speed force, and should make more so they have enough meta humans to combat the Kryptonians (or come up with a reason Barry is special, i.e. genetics or something) 2) Barry could overwhelm Zod by going back to the same point in time hundreds/thousands of times to fight him (like a big chrono-punch or multi-stab with the Kryptonian metal). Come to think of it, if Younger Barry kept going back, his tries should have kept adding up until he was overwhelming the Kryptonians. It’s never really explained why, in this case, Barry and Barry only exist in one iteration even when returning to the same point in time that they were still fighting (otherwise, it wouldn’t make sense why Younger Barry exists to begin with).

What a bizarre experience this movie had to be! I've seen a lot those; you can't change the past and you should just let go and move on with your life stories; in form of movies, anime, novels, even one of episode of Stargate SG1 was about that. One of the worst examples of this was 2002 adaptation of "The Time Machine", one of the best was "Groundhog day" in which Bill's Murray character is caught in time loop and time after time he tries to save old, homeless man from dying but he just can't do it - man is old, weak and he spend most of his life on the street. His time simply come - you can make last day of his life to be happy but you can't save him. His death is unavoidable and that's good example of destiny in movies - after all people don't live forever. But in case of "Flash" it seems that authors decided to be lazy and said that heroes can't defeat Zod and his people just because... Listening to description of this film I was confused about how authors can even suggest that Zod is invincible - in original timeline he was defeated by newbie Superman and here he had to fought Supergirl, two Flashes and Batman and yet he kept winning ? That's why I usually hate destiny in movies; it's excuse for bad, lazy writing - events had to unfold in certain way just because we said so! Just like in terrible "Arrival" movie which is completely base on circular logic. The only thing that I understand is that Batman 89 don't want to face against Kryptonians - it wouldn't be hard to write the line from him in which he justify why he won't fight; "Alien soldiers with super technology and super powers and I'm just old man in the bat suit.
@Arphemius Жыл бұрын
Agreed on everything except Arrival - determinism can work and that movie demonstrates how, just like e.g. 12 Monkeys. Time Machine etc. and The Flash are stupid because their power of time travel is unlimited and completely unaffected by the time travel itself, as in there is no loop being created where what they did in the past affects themselves in the future and leads back to them traveling in time in the first place, and they still insist on destiny being a thing. Even though they should easily be able to change it, the universe just "insists" on certain "canon events" being a thing, like the Time Machine creator's wife dying. No matter how hard he tries to save her, the universe would randomly decide to throw lightning at her because it "wants" her specifically to die, it's just stupid.

So to fix his mistake with the soup, Flash lets his mother die, but creates exonerating evidence for his father. But then, would his father be in jail in the first place? If there was evidence that he was not the killer for the whole time, why is he in jail and why wasn't the actual killer found and jailed? And even if he fixes his own mistake, how can he come back to his own timeline and why is there no Flash present in that timeline?

I'm guessing Zack Snyder didn't think through the implications on the wider universe. He probably just thought, "This is a cool idea!" and left it at that. Not that its absence from the actual films makes the DC cinematic universe any less incoherent.
@daytonsimpson9963 Жыл бұрын
I love the comics and the Flashpoint comic is great but I've always found it funny how Barry's mom is such a focal point in the DC universe that causes these other events to happen different. Movie: By Barry putting an extra can of tomatoes, Aquaman's mom never washes ashore which prevents his birth, Steve Trevor never goes to Themyscira to persuade Diana (or Themyscira never existed), Clark's pod somehow goes off course to be captured and killed by Zod, Bruce somehow gets his birthday pushed back because he's older than normal timeline Bruce. All of this because of a can of tomatoes. I would love to see a film how this one can of tomatoes caused all these separate events to happen.
@Birthday888 Жыл бұрын
I don't think Barry's mom the focal point that changes everything, but is instead Barry going back in time. Or, at the very least, that's what I feel like should be the actual explanation. Gives a solid explanation as to why Flash just can't rewind time every time something bad happens that isn't just "Uh, you save someone and accidentally cause WW3 to happen because uh..... Butterfly effect or something."
@daytonsimpson9963 Жыл бұрын
@@Birthday888 Then I guess the movie needs to explain that better because that's how time travel works. In other time travel movies the present changes because of something done in the past. In Back to the Future, Biff gives his younger self the Almanac which allows him to become a tyrannical billionaire in the present. In Hot Tub Time Machine, Lou stays in the past with knowledge of the present which allows him to become a billionaire. The only thing the flash does not do in the movie is give anyone in the past knowledge of the present. So by planting that extra can of tomatoes in the basket, it does cause these other events to happen somehow because of the butterfly effect. I guess the writers just don't understand time travel.
@Birthday888 Жыл бұрын
@@daytonsimpson9963 I do understand the butterfly effect, I just find it lazy when it's used to justify such vast changes to the timeline with no correlation between the change and the corresponding effect. Like, in Back To The Future, there's a direct link between Biff getting knowledge of the future and him become filthy rich. I can follow that logic. Not so much by how saving Barry's mom also somehow ends up turning Thomas Wayne into the Batman

F=MA Aka: Force equals Mass times acceleration. The Flash punching you at the speed of sound would literally be like being hit by a cannon ball if not more harmful. Now increase his speed to like twenty time the speed of sound or even any relativistic speeds and he's hitting with the impact of anything from a small bomb to a nuclear warhead. Let's remember his body also resists the impact which means either he is basically invulnerable (so bullets shouldn't hurt him, nor kryptonian punches) or when "cloaked" in the speed force his body resists movement down to the atomic level aka punches, bullets, explosions, etc should do nothing to him. Flash is genuinely the most powerful super hero ever written because of how absurdly broken physics is. Yet in these movies it's never a matter of "He's not able to go this fast" or "He lacks experience to use his power properly" it's always a matter of the writer having the most severe adhd in history (Yes its offensive to adhd patients including me. I know, ) and forgetting physics are a thing or just deciding to randomly nerf him like he's a league of legends champion! Flash is also one of the best heroes because of his personality, in several itterations he's shown downright talking to the bad guys and improving their day because he just cares about everyone. Flash is the heart of the justice league and is their hidden powerhouse! God I love him! Do the flash justice dammit! I'll just got back to the cartoon I guess... What was I writing? Oh right!: Flash OP plz nerf, but properly not at random you shit writers! Edit: apparently now youtube is like "Help us keep comments respectful" fuck you youtube!
@morlath4767 Жыл бұрын
Pretty much, yeah. Most people don't realise that Flash is effectively Superman in how he fights/battles crime and his attitude. He only goes to the level he thinks he needs to to battle his enemies. It's why he can sometimes get caught out. Batman fights crime to take out his pain on the criminals, Supes and both Barry and Wally fight crime to make the world a better place. Side note - From what I understand, Flashes are cloaked in the Speed Force. I believe this is mostly subconscious, hence why he can not take damage running at speeds or punching someone/something, but can be hurt if blind sided.

How does flash run up a building? 2 possibilities. 1. the thing keeping you stuck to the wall is inertia, you can see this with parkour guys, when they try running up a wall from standing still, they will not get far, if they get a bit of a running start, they can get further up, flash is basicly a bullet, so his inertia is probably great enough to keep him stuck to a wall for far longer... 2. in the other movies they explain that part of his power is build up of static charge, static charge is known to have an effect similar to a magnet, where things get stuck to you... perhaps its something like that.

On top of which his plans to probably later colonize Mars. Maybe he's converting Earth to Krypton for reasons, so in turn, he's running a second operation to turn Mars or Venus into a second Earth and working on processing the atmosphere there. In fact the Kryptonian could probably just transform Venus, and survive the elements there after they clear the clouds out, so they have superpowers, build dome cities, and they can let humans exist as part of their empire. Nothing says Zod has to be a cruel general, he could be somewhat benevolent once he's dealt with how pissed off he was at being sent to the phantom zone in that one movie. So whatever is happening, humans living in dome cities, Kryptonians living in dome cities, producing tons of war materials and getting ready to go on a galactic crusade. could make a fun film series. Also, why would Zod kill a baby of a smart scientist? he's probably someone that believes in eugenics a bit and would probably be someone who would want the baby of someone who he tried to get to serve him, and who refused to, to get that baby indoctrinated to his way of thinking and his plans for the world. There was a Red Son Superman, where he served the Soviets, why not one where he ends up indoctrinated to serve Zod, could make for some great movies watching humans and Kryptonians enslaving the galaxy, raiding worlds, and conquering planetary governments. building new cities, blah bla bla glorious war as they serve Zod. Then Zod either turns on them or stays a true Antihero and honors them. superman turns on him or stays a true anti-hero. in fact, this could be the anti-hero universe of the multiverse. maybe he lied when he said kal el didn't survive. maybe he wasn't that wasteful and was just antagonizing her to test her abilities and reactions to see if he could get her to serve.

If the average person is going to be tired and requiring sleep after 16 hours or so, what does rhat mean for Flash who experiences time so much faster? Wouldnt he experience hundreds of hours in a day and constantly require sleep? What does that then mean for his aging process? Would he not become an old man after just a couple months or years?

Probably correct. Another interpretation is that they heal so fast that it counteracts the aging process.

@@losingisntloosing.stopit1396 so the flash is immortal?

@Pez Dispencer no, neither situation makes sense tbh. Unless they cancel each other out and he ages normally, but then he'd destroy his body at the speeds he travels lol. Who knows
