No mainline EFAP episode this week, we are still ahead of the numbers for the coming anniversary. We will be using the slot to record another memefap to try and catch up there. However, we thought we would give you folks an EFAP movies in its place... on Dead Space. You all know Dead Space... I'm sure this will be entirely familiar to you and you don't even need the copyright protection... it's that... GREAT! #HailTinpan

11:59 Hi Rags! Judging from the context and the shot, that is not a candle, but rather an alcohol lamp, commonly used as a portable alternative to a Bunsen burner where a steady source of natural gas is not available. It's essentially a glass bottle filled with alcohol (usually ethanol) with a cotton wick that draws up the fuel. You then seal the bottle with a screw-on top that's attached near the top of the wick and proceed to ignite the top of the wick once it is fully soaked in ethanol. This design allows a controlled burn, is generally safe, and usually produces a constant flame much like a Bunsen burner, but having worked with them in the past, the flame that they produce can flare up spontaneously, particularly as the lamp gets more worn/older. I've seen those flames rage up as high as about 6-8 inches on older lamps, at which point you either rush to cap it in time or (if a fire starts on the top of the bottle) you move the bottle away from everything else and pray. Considering that you're dealing with flammable fumes/liquid and the nature of the design, I would highly recommend capping it. Trying to blow it out like a candle is a particularly unsafe idea and, in the worst case scenario, would catch your lab on fire.

This is a shameless remake of Roger Corman's own Forbidden World. He recycled the script, the monster, the robot, and the characters. Hell, he even recycled the death scenes from Forbidden World in this movie.

If this is the start of a “dumb space movies” stretch of EFAP movies, then I’m suggesting “Space Truckers”. It has EFAP legend Charles Dance, as well as Dennis Hopper and Stephen Dorff. Don’t remember if it’s good or not. But I think I have a memory of Charles Dance trying to “pull start” his robot dick like it’s a push mower. Lol

You know how KZbin tries to recommend films in a similar genre from it's library to rent or buy. The poor KZbin algorithm is looking at this film and is just like "man what do you want me to do with this?" I got recommendations for Pitch Black, The Black Hole, Lost in Space, Forbidden World and then it's like "Ah come on I can't recommend the good Alien or Aliens when you're watching this so here's Alien 3".

I got one for MST3K, which tracks. After all, what better to follow a bunch of guys in '23 laughing through bad '90s sci-fi than a bunch of guys in the '90s laughing through bad '60s sci-fi? It's like poetry, it rhymes.

The movie was (somewhat obviously) direct to tv and video. It's a remake of the 1982 film Forbidden World, but the characters and places were renamed and there's fairly minor other differences. It was shot in three weeks and didn't have the budget for more refined looking credits. The production name for it was Biohazard, so it has a connection to both our favorite zombie survival horror franchises. The opening space battle sequence isn't original, but is footage that's reused from the 1980 film Battle Beyond the Stars. How does one have a battle BEYOND the stars? I don't know.

My dad rented this back in the early 90s. Probably around 91. There wasn't much to rent that night and he thought it looked interesting. I started watching it with him, I knew it was probably going to be bad. The moment I saw it had footage from Battle Beyond the Stars, I gave up and did something else. Didn't remember what it was called until you showed it. Dead Space was an appropriate title for this film.

You know, the mention of Bryan Cranston doing this film before Malcolm in the Middle reminded me: Giancarlo Esposito went on to Once Upon A Time after Breaking Bad. Y'all should check that show out, it's FASCINATING to compare what a Disney live action show was like before the D+ era.

I really look forward to E-FAP Movies (the coverage of The Final Destination series was great). But sometimes I wish the flavour of humour wasn't "OTT". Main episodes, Catch-Ups and EFAP-Gaming don't go that far, so why go overboard during watch-togethers like this one?

i hope efap movies/minis havent slowed down because the editing has gotten more complex. i appreciate the extra effort and all but there's so many joke edits in this video that dont seem all that needed. personally i really appreciated the relatively simple and straightforward approach to editing from before actually, the more i watch, the more frustrating it is. theres an abrupt joke edit or zoom-in every 5-10 seconds and it makes this video really hard to watch :/ especially when the movie visuals and commentary provide more than enough entertainment value on their own

First of all can I just say I think it's wonderful EFAP is covering this lost piece of Corman Produced Science Fiction Schlock. Secondly this film is basically a remake of Forbidden World (1982)...which was basically an Alien (1979) knock-off. Thirdly I would like to recommend the film Galaxy Of Terror (1981) for the EFAP treatment...mainly because it's completely batsh!t insane, features some early effects work by James Cameron & "stars" the acting talents of Robert Englund & Sid Haig. Check it out for some fun MauLer. 👍
