I did a little research at work and found that he's also called "Nick" by Tony Stark in Avengers 1. During the scene where him and Banner are trying to find the Tessaract using Loki's Scepter. Took like 2 minutes to find the quote. They didn't even try lol Edit: Tony also calls him "Nick" at the very start of Age of Ultron! In Winter Soldier, Steve calls him "Nick" four times, and Black Widow calls him "Nick" twice during his fake out death. Damn, can't believe the Avengers were full of Skrulls

Though here's the question now, are there any characters that you can say that are still part of the Avengers that haven't had any damage done to them from Endgame till now? I'd say Spider-Man but that is even that's in the air whether he's still on the team.
@viddykhaos2896
@viddykhaos2896 10 ай бұрын
@@mikzpwnz_3199I… do not think any of them are spared. Thor is made into a “comedy” mockery. Hulk is reduced to a powerless person whose actual traumas and suffering are compared to that of his useless cousin. Iron Man has passed away, and we instead have a sub-par replacement in the second Black Panther film. Guardians have disbanded, and reassembled into a different composition. Characters such as Rhodey, Sam, Bucky, etc. are changed quite a lot or have their histories retconned, or are placed into Phases 4-5 with less than ideal writing and representation. Black Widow is dead, and received a less than stellar film. Hawkeye has retired. No one remains, really. Everyone is either dead, cast aside, or turned into a comedic relief. Spiderman is… better than most. But considering all that has happened, I doubt that will last much longer.
@mikzpwnz_3199
@mikzpwnz_3199 10 ай бұрын
@@viddykhaos2896 wow, they were all hit harder than phase 4/5 than they were with the snap. There's not even an Antman to help them build themselves back up as they got to him too. The only reason they haven't been completely obliterated is that the most powerful villain they could have been up against is as threatening as post TLJ Kylo Ren. Guess that's the evidence you need to show how little thought or care went into the writing beyond just the overall agenda pushing that's present in all of this phase it's almost like that's the only concrete thing they had written down as the multiverse has contradicting explanations and there was no real unanimous movement towards an overarching story that phase 5 and phase 4 have no clear separation points. This means for the MCU and marvel studios , is there an Avengers left to actually call on to reliably make money? The reason why they're not using that title is because if an Avengers movie bombs, there's no hope for a turnaround and the entire thing collapses.

The panel exposing that Fury's dusting flashback was retconned to make him sound more pathetic is the 2nd-best part of the stream, and it really is the crown jewel of his character assassination. Dismantling Nick's offscreen achievements is bad enough, but to actively rewrite scenes we've already seen to gaslight us makes the showrunners as much of a loser as they painted Nick as. I'd be mad if it wasn't so goddamn hilarious. Also, please make a highlight of this show's final CGI fight. That arm is the stuff of legends.

Let’s look at Captain Marvel’s curriculum vitae, shall we? - Destroying Supreme Intelligence (which is technically Kree’s entire government) which led to genocide and civil war in Kree’s planet. - Failing to keep her promise to the Skrulls about finding their new home but it’s fine because they blamed it all on Fury anyway. - Saving Skrulls in the first place, considering they have a repeating track record of subverting the government of the other species (Kree and human) and trying to nuke the whole world. - Abandoning Monica Rambeau for many decades because she’s a coward.

it genuinely does piss me off that they did that. Rhodes never got a real chance to mainline, he was always either comic relief or the background-badass there to add more explosions to the fight. *_especially_* post-tony they could have had an interesting movie, series of movies, TV show, etc. where he is trying to keep doing work but can't actually improve or repair his suit(s) since he didn't invent the technology and isn't a tech-guy. I despise Riri as a character and concept, but, if you *_need_* to introduce her, why the hell didn't they have Rhodes find her to help maintain and improve his suits? I mean a much *_better_* idea would be to reveal that Tony made an AI for this case, *_like we already know he did for Peter,_* since then you're able to 'rhyme' with the original Iron Man movies where Tony was mostly alone but could bounce off of Jarvis and DUM-E for character interactions. Rhodes is one of those characters that I'm really pissed has never gotten a fair shake because he has a ton of potential to drive excellent stories, but it requires taking him seriously for extended periods of time.

In regards to Nick Fury's motivation to put together the Avengers about 15 minutes into this video, this isn't even up to interpretation or debate. His motivational speech to the Avengers to prompt them to act as a team and defeat Loki after suffering a defeat at his hands, in large part because of how uncoordinated and distrustful they were of each other (Loki's plan was based on not only unleashing the Hulk, but his opportunity to do that came from the Mind Stone making the Avengers argue with each other) literally goes like this: Nick Fury has lost trust with the Avengers when they discover that S.H.I.E.L.D was using the Tesseract to develop highly-advanced weapons of mass destruction. His justification for this came in the earlier scene before Loki's attack and defeat of the Avengers. "Last year earth had a visitor with a grudge match that leveled a small town. We learned that not only are we not alone, we are hopelessly - _hilariously_ - outgunned." When Thor (the "grudge" of earth's visitor) responded with "My people want nothing but peace with your planet", Nick Fury snapped back "But you're not the only people out there, are you? _And_ you're not the only threat". In the scene after Loki's defeat of the Avengers where Nick Fury has to say something to motivate them all, he admits S.H.I.E.L.D's attempts to create weapons from the Tesseract, but then he adds this... "...But I never put all my chips on that number though because I was playing something even riskier..." and then comes the speech about the Avengers Initiative. "There was an idea...Stark knows this...to bring together a group of remarkable people, so that when we needed them to, they could fight the battles that we never could." The Avengers was made to defend earth from threats Nick Fury couldn't. Literally no wiggle room

That line has really weird implications if Skrulls were around the whole time. How is having shapeshifters being outgunned? Why not tell the Avengers about them? Secret Invasion taints the whole franchise and retcons everything. 🤦🏽‍♀️
@TOONYBOY
@TOONYBOY 10 ай бұрын
@@hope-cat4894 Not to Secret Invasion's credit, but Nick Fury keeps a lot of secrets from the Avengers. I mean, this very scene I referenced is literally _caused_ by the Avengers learning that Nick Fury kept a really important secret from them. Not only that, but he's not referring to shapeshifters when he says "We're hilariously outgunned". He specifically mentions the Destroyer that Loki sent to earth in the first Thor movie, and that think literally has a massive head-laser that explodes buildings and seems to be mostly immune to small-arms fire

I'm shocked Disney isn't sweeping phase 4 under the rug by saying various movies happen "in other universes" Hell, this is supposedly the "multiverse saga" and yet we just stay in this one universe, barring MoM, NWH, and Loki. But those are either heavily tied to the main universe, or directly take place or are directly influenced by the main universe. Even then, Marvels directly contradict this by having the Skrulls living on another world (iirc anyway, I'll be fair and admit I may be misremembering that)

@@nont18411 You're not entirely wrong, but not quite right either. Yes, he started the trend, but it *became* a trend because of how Hollywood executives operate. The Nolan Batman was popular? Quick, turn every superhero movie into dark, angry, brooding action movies! Wait, the MCU is popular now? Quick, take our IPs and make them into an inter-connected universe, no matter how little sense it makes! What, now the Guardians of the Galaxy is popular? Quick, make every superhero movie into campy, quippy comedies with a group of misfits! The same thing happened to GoT as well, where the writing, the layered characters, and the themes were reduced to "Make everyone miserable, kill the characters people like, and put boobs in it (last one is optional)". Hollywood had always done this, it just became much more obvious in modern times, when the turn-over of a media fad is measured in years, instead of decades.

I can’t decide what’s the worst outcome about this show. That we will have to keep suffering through this slop every time we watch the entire MCU, or that we will have suffered through all this for no reason and this show will never be canon and we will never ever have to watch it again.

About Rhodey is the fact that he is shown to not have the damage from Civil War, he can still walk, I guess this is the only thing they get right. When the real Rhodey is saved, he has to be carried due to the damage he suffered as he couldn't walk without his aid.

I think in a few decades time, Marvel MCU will be looked at as an example of how not to write a shared universe. The world is beyond destroyed at this point. Every film and TV series smashes a giant hole through their previous entry(s). And dear god if you were to watch the MCU in chronological order, you will be laughing at how badly put together it now is. The timeline will make no sense and you'll be asking how do we know nothing about any of this. Like watch Avengers and remember that through out it Nick has Skrulls on his side the entire time that he could make use of.

My theory is that Samuel Jackson wanted this because he wanted to flex his acting skills with the emotional scenes and talk about racism and stuff, similar to how the first season of Picard was the way it was because that's what Patrick Stewart wanted.

44:00 What's so incredible about it? It's part of the standard playbook. "Always accuse the other side of doing the exact shady thing that you're doing right now at this very moment." That way, when someone denies it and tries to turn the accusation back around in the direction it belongs, it automatically sounds childish and pathetic. It sounds (to the casual observer) like "Nuh uh! Not me! You!"

I think they need to bring in Nick Furry Sr, Old with super soldier serum. Make him like 100 years old but look 50-60, physically strong but have his real super power be his intellect (ie. marvel batman). Disney can make him white and still accuse anyone who has a problem with that of being racist against bi racial relationships, so its a win win for their ESG score.

Regarding the Slovakia quote, this has always been a pet peeve of mine. In the media, for the original purpose of brevity I imagine, they paraphrase "the Chinese government" to "China." This is also a shorthand the government military and foreign policy people use, so it makes sense that the reporters talking about it would use the same kind of lingo. The problem is, at some point, the public started (or always did) interpret this literally. Like, "Iran hates America." In the shorthand, this makes sense, but generalizing it gives the impression to the public that the Iranian public as a mass hates Americans. It's not really so much the marvel writer's fault, because expecting a probably relatively young writer to have diplomacy experience is not fair, but the writer is using the term in the bamboozled way the media insinuates to the public.

Well, according to Fringy, Endgame did ruin Tony. By making Tony insist that the undoing of the snap isn't allowed to undo the 5 years that went by (because he doesn't want to risk losing his daughter), he made sure that the suffering and loss everyone went through isn't undone, all for his personal happiness. It's like the end of TLoU, except the damage to the wider population is infinitely more certain (and massive).

1:05:00 I'm surprised I don't see Nick doing the strategy I came up with for a character who has dealt with Skrull-esque threats before. If you have any inkling of an idea that someone you're dealing with is a fake, you casually sprinkle blatant falsehoods about the person into your conversation with them and see if they react. For instance, main character guy has made it known that he doesn't care for nicknames, and when he sees an old friend he thought he'd never see again, the first thing he does is call them by their nickname to see if they'd react to it, and as he keeps casually mentioning things like, "Well to celebrate, we can get such and such food because I know that's your favorite." When he knows it isn't. Like, a dumbass like me can come up with this plan, I refuse to believe Nick Fury doesn't have some kind of contingency to help him figure out who is and isn't a Skrull beyond "You called me Nick and no one calls me Nick."

48:00 You would think that of all the characters they could ruin, Nick Fury wouldn’t be one of them. It makes it even worse when you realize that for a company they preaches SO MUCH about diversity, and having more black and brown led stories. And yet a story that has a black male lead, they then want to diminish that male lead and make him a loser.

I think it could be sumed up like this: Previous versions of Fury - written by competent, inteligent, sharp-minded writters who liked Fury This version of Fury - written by dumb, whiney, soft writers holding grudge toward all male role models with intent to tear them down Can’t see any more sense. And once again, the truth of “dumb person can’t write inteligent character” shows once more.
