This movie made it canon that Madame Web knew the future that her friend Uncle Ben will die but chose not to prevent it from happening. What an asshole.
@colten539 ай бұрын
The ending implies that the future can be changed and that she will be preventing bad outcomes from occurring with her foresight. So yeah, she’s totally just going to let her best friend die. I suppose that you could debate the whole greater good thing since it leads to Spider-Man saving hundreds of lives after that, but it makes her a bit inhumane. Spiderverse 2 dealt with this better since that wrestles with the same idea that a relative and friend of Miles must die to preserve the multiverse and make him a better Spider-Man
@nont184119 ай бұрын
@@colten53 Yeah, it led to the birth of Spider-Man but it also led to a complete destruction of Peter Parker’s life that sent him into a perpetual misery. So my point still stands, Madame Web is an asshole. Also, I realized that, since Sony tried to make Madame Web in the same canon as Tom Holland’s spider, that means Web knew that Peter is gonna lose EVERYONE in his life (May died, MJ and Ned forgot about him) and let that happen anyway. She accidentally became the most evil Spider-Man villain and Sony isn’t even aware about it.
@hawttub_22659 ай бұрын
@@nont18411 See, I feel like this could be an interesting question for a film like this to ponder. Letting Ben die, and letting Peter suffer will as mentioned save hundreds of lives in the future, and be a net positive to the world from a purely pragmatic view. A more intelligent movie would grapple with this question extensively. What should she do? Should she act as if she doesn’t know, and simply let the future happen as it would? Or should she change the future because she has the power to, thus saving a life, but potentially stifling all the good Spider-Man would do in the future? See, that premise sounds at least halfway interesting. Too bad the writers didn’t even come close to considering any of it.
@WarCriminalPhlox9 ай бұрын
@@hawttub_2265the bigger problem is this relies on the assumption Uncle Ben *has* to die for Peter to become the hero he is. There's no reason to think just a scare of his uncle being shot but surviving wouldn't have the same effect on him, or even just being mugged without damage to his person, the only reason Uncle Ben dies is because for a fictional story written for entertainment that's more dramatic, and opens story avenues in regards to peter having to support his aunt, not because it's a necessity of reality. You have to have a very low opinion of Peter Parker as a character to think the *only* way he can learn his lesson is if someone close to him dies due to his negligence
@hawttub_22659 ай бұрын
@@WarCriminalPhlox Fair enough I guess, I was operating under the assumption it would have to happen for him to become Spider-Man, it has been hinted as such in other Spider-Man media. And my point was that if it WAS the case that Ben had to die, that could be set up for an interesting moral question the film could explore. But the film doesn’t do that, nor does it establish that indeed Ben needs to die for Spidey to come about. So Madame web does indeed come out looking like a huge prick.

8:40 you could, no joke, have had a cool choreographed scene where the paramedics work together almost wordlessly to save the patient extremely efficiently to show that these characters are in sync and familiar with each other and how they work together The driver could have been an extra, having both characters in back and working together would be far more interesting and easily characterize them
@42Mrgreenman9 ай бұрын
That would have been cool, maybe just do a POV of the extra driver bobbing and weaving through traffic (Maybe give them one line like, "Hold on!" as they wheel around a corner or, "Go, go, go!" when they finally stop) while in the back they are taking turns with the patient while passing implements to each other as they bounce and lean...give them that combat medic feel...(IIRC they did something similar with the cops in The Dark Knight until the twist that Gordon was the driver, I really liked the quips of the passenger guy too)...
