Italian there! Have a couple efco/oleo Mac downstairs. They make them in Reggio Emilia, not that far from where i live. Looks like that is the son or Grandson of the famous 962 from oleo Mac, which i believe was made on a 70cc chassis -the 970-, as said in the video. Super reliable and a bit heavy workhorse back in the day. Looks like it mantained the old models charateristics. Pretty good semipro stuff.

I would say it's built on a mid 60 cc chassis ie dolmar 6400, husqvarna 365, echo cs 680, specs wise it supposed to be heavier than the dolmar the same as a husqvarna 365 x torq?(the heavier one), a husqvarna 565 and lighter than a cs 680, but at their msrp of about 600 you would expect to have a trade off, I'd consider it a higher quality (i.e. pro saw style build )ms 311/391- in the same price range, or an cs 680 alternative basically a decent power but heavy firewood saw

Nope, run a 71cc saw and a 93cc saw. Had little saws, prefer bigger saws because I can buck a big tree up much faster and that equals more production and less time in the woods.

👊 what type of saw do you like? narrow that down 2 something that's easy 2 get parts 4 at a decent $. Are you 2stroke knowledgeable?
@matthewbutcher2037 ай бұрын
I'd suggest a 288 husky clone for ease of porting inexpensive and readily available parts I've ported several types and sizes of saws and that model can be torn down, a basic port job, and reassembled in around 2 hours it has a 54mm bore so you can get at your ports with a dremel or a flexible shaft attachment fairly easily and if you foul up you can buy another cylinder for around 40-50$
@matthewknight56415 сағат бұрын
The neotech ns872i and farmer tech 660 and a 63cc pinkway saw is what I started porting. I'm brand new also but those saws were not expensive and were easy to work on. If you do the pinkway be careful not to over tighten bolts because the case seems kinda soft.
@alisaproctor77257 ай бұрын
If I remember correctly, a number of years ago, I read about these saws by a guy who posted a long account about his experience being a dealer for them. He said the company gave a long warranty on the saws, then expected the dealers to pay the company for the parts, and also eat the labor cost to repair them. Many of the models ended up with warranty issues. It might have been on the Arborist Website. I hope you have good luck with it.
@iamhere34177 ай бұрын
Exactly, they are an absolute nightmare to deal with. I fixed my own new saw that cut for less than an hour because I could not trust their dealer who lied to me about testing the saw before sending it to me, the flywheel came loose cutting palm branches, they wanted to charge me if it was my fault upon returning the saw to them, they would get to judge whether it was my fault, no way was it my fault, it was loose from when I got it, was very difficult to start and ran reasonable when going, but as it got looser all that changed. Eventually I fixed it myself, the importers said they would send me two chains as compensation for my trouble, this was after having to contact Emak in Italy, never got the chains. Efco is the worst company I every purchased from, their warranty is completely useless. I bought many power products since but never will I buy anything this lot make.
@alisaproctor77257 ай бұрын
So, the company screws the dealers, and the dealers screw the customers!
@iamhere34177 ай бұрын
Heavy is ok, if your just lifting it up on a log to let it cut under its own weight, your not carrying the weight and it helps do the work instead of having to put any weight on it to cut. Different if your out in the woods with it limbing, bucking again is not a problem nor is felling too bad. Combined with a 50cc saw to limb and buck small stuff, not a bad saw, its the backup that defeats them where I live.

I think their history with John Deere is over. Every John Deere dealership I know of sells Stihl products now. My neighbor has one (51.7 cc), & he likes it A small town saw shop used to sell Dolmar & Jonsered. He then sold Redmax until those disappeared, too. Now, he is selling Efco. MT6510 is as big as they go (63.4 cc) in the States.

It will improve if you muffler mod it, it is well stuffed up, the older model 6500 muffler has no cat. The older 6500 has slightly more hp too and is a shade lighter. REMOVE THE CAT BEFORE YOU COOK THE ENGINE. The older ones did not have a great air filtration system either, if this is the same be careful of fines getting into the engine. IT IS NOT A STRATO SAW. John Reilly has ported them, here is a 6500 SawNut 381 has done, kzbin.info/www/bejne/bn7IYaGnab2Db9E Can't wait to see you port it in comparison to this one.

I've owned the 40cc John Deere version and the best way I can describe it is it definitely had insane compression and revved extremely high would definitely outperform my other 40cc saws but because of the crazy compression The Recoil gear would strip, the whole thing was plastic and I couldn't find any parts for it not even on eBay. So overall rating complete plastic garbage. I'll take my Super EZ any day over this plastic junk ,it's reliable. Now I do have the Cub Cadet version 50cc class and it looks much better but didn't get to play with it much.

Agreed, I rarely comment on anything, but these are to be avoided at all cost, I had a new 5200, would not warranty it even though it did not work right from the beginning, after less than an hour cutting palm branches flywheel was loose, it was also cracked, had to repair it myself. Emak in Italy did not even get the importer or the seller to help me, they made promises that never materialized.
