I've heard that, tho T doesn't actually change your height, once you start to pass more you'll be less conscious of your chest. I noticed that I and a lot of other trans guys slouch to hide their chests. Once you start hormones and get top surgery, you'll start to stand up straighter which makes you at least appear taller.
@Ezra-gx2oq7 жыл бұрын
i know this post is old but yeah! i'm pre everything and i've always slouched. it's gotten worse now, i slouch constantly as well as pull my shirt away from my chest. i'm hoping to start T or atleast get a good therapist. :)

thank you so much, chase. recently I've been questioning if I'm a trans boy after 2 years of identifying as agender, and I've been thinking about physically transitioning and going on T. I used to always say I didn't feel like a "man" and the way I said man, I meant that I didn't feel like the misogynistic, toxic masculine man that society says men are. It's taken me a long time to get out of that mindset and I'm still somewhat in it, so thank you for reassuring everyone that being a man doesn't have to mean a misogynistic, hyper masculine one.

As a trans man born with intersex characteristics, I definitely experienced height growth within the first month, and I'm still getting taller. My hands are bigger, and so are my feet. Maybe for someone with traditional female attributes, this is true, but it's not the case for every afab trans man.

The anger is really the only thing I'm worried about for when I start T. I'm already an 'angry person' by nature, very impulsive and irritable and sometimes, sadly, can be very violent. I'm really hoping T doesn't make it worse, it's already bad enough.
@TheFailThatNinjad10 жыл бұрын
It is a possibility but also it might be very possible for you to become a lot less like that because of you finally being able to feel more comfortable with yourself and whatnot. :) From most guys I've heard from, it either doesn't really effect them, or they become a lot calmer. If it really does become an issue to you though, don't be afraid to look around/search for help with anger and whatnot.

I used to have like crazy anger outbursts, like one time I took a fork and carved like a square foot hole in it >_> anyway that's the past. When I started T I was so scared if I self harmed or got angry my doctors would take me off of it, so I used that as motivation to keep myself together. Although I'm not sure if others would have this work them, after only about a few months of trying, it became really natural to just be able to keep it together. I ended up having to force myself to cope other ways, and I think I got pretty lucky, but you never know. Keep your chin up.

@snazzylizardz50414 жыл бұрын
I it's old but imma answer anyway There's gel that's applied on skin daily. It is probably more expensive because you need stuff for every day instead of the injection vial that lasts 3 months. BUT daily instead of bi-weekly keeps T levels consistent, so no more crazy mood swings around shot day :)

+Fee Howard You can get used to almost anything you are afraid of by facing it regularly. I myself have overcome a lot of things that I sucked at and feared and have learned this lesson. Previously I would say "this is not my thing really" but now I know, after being basically forced to face a lot of my weaknesses and fears throughout my life that "this is not something I am good at, but I know I can always be better than I am right now, so if this is important to me, I will face it". I am not saying this as a "man up thing" because I would say this to a girl/woman too (whether cis or trans, doesn't matter). And that's also my advice to you and if you believe my advice (and I hope you do) it can probably give you hope that you will overcome your fear of needles if you just keep at it and don't give up.
@FastRunner008 жыл бұрын
There are definitely ways to take hormones without injections (I know what it's like to be terrified of needles lol). They offer a pill, and I think there's a gel as well? But I'm not sure about the gel so I suggest doing your own research and approach your doctor about it :)

How do you know that T isn't changing people's orientations rather than making them more 'comfortable'? I know people who were 100% homosexual -- not uncomfortable bisexuals or pansexuals or heterosexuals, but complete gays -- who became bisexual or even exclusively male-attracted after taking T. AFAIK some people experience a genuine change, not merely a loss of inhibition or loss of hangups around attraction to males (homosexual orientation is not generally caused by hangups/fear/discomfort anyway, contrary to a certain homophobic trope).
@Frazzmen8 жыл бұрын
+Gruffy Personally before I started taking T I said that I was strictly attracted to girls only and now that I'm almost 10 months on T I'm thinking I may be some form of pansexual. I don't think it was the hormones that changed my sexuality because I just don't think that's how it works but rather I think before I got on T I was so in my head about being a boy that there was no way I would also like boys because I felt it would invalidate my gender or need to transition or something stupid like that but as I become more confident in my masculinity I'm becoming more okay with the idea that I can be male and still find some attraction in men and that's okay.
