Fml! Not sure where to start from. A young guy. Confident with a reason. Selfless in sharing of professional tips&tricks. Über precise. Makes his own (invents & improve) stuff. And yes ... all of that and ZERO cockiness. A true example for DIYers, PROs and younger generations to come. Great job. All the best!

Just started my biggest job yet. 25 windows and 18 doors + baseboard all around the house. I gotta say as soon as i get some free time im making these wings. I quickly realized how important a precise stop block is needed when trimming out window jambs and casings with repeated cuts where windows are all the same dimensions. Thank you so much for sharing this information and knowledge !

2 years into looking for something that works after forty years of wooden boxes. Florida destroys all of it. Cut hub is high, EZ speedy has no support table and these wood stands get destroyed in Florida humidity. Looks like a new wood stand every year is still the order of the day. Nice setup....for up north. Dig your IG page bro. Cheers!!

If you go to the sketchup 3d warehouse and search "Trim racks" the model should pop up. I recommend 3 racks if you'll add significant weight on them.

Hey dude. I have slowly built towards being able to build these wings, I have all the material for it, the stands the hinges for the stands. I'm now looking to buy the little stuff, the knobs the tape, t track, but what about those swivel hinges you use? would you mind linking those? as well as the magnets you used? also, is there a durable finish you would suggest to coat the wings with?
@adrcamacho1

There’s a lot of wobble in those wings, does that ever affect the cuts on the trim or the prices you’re cutting? Looks awesome!!!

No issues. I’d love if they were rock solid but it’s tough with portable fold down legs.
@cougill_trim_and_cabinets
@cougill_trim_and_cabinets 6 жыл бұрын
These are really killer! I copied Justin's a few months ago and they rest on the extension arms built into the saw stand. What made you opt for the leg design instead? I'm strongly considering a swap after watching this fast set-up time.
@InsiderCarpentry
@InsiderCarpentry 6 жыл бұрын
I went with the fold down legs because I wanted support without any deflection. I don't use and side support stands with the setup I have now, which I really like. The downside is that my wings are very heavy.

Why not just go with aluminum side wings? They are lighter, more compact, and don't warp with time.

Man that is super cool. I built a version of these for my Dewalt on a rolling stand you’d get a kick out of. The connecting brackets were by far the hardest part to design. Did you ever consider the FastCap Best Fence? I looked through hundreds of hours of videos when making them and your video never came up. If you got an email I could send you some pictures?

Question for you Spencer. I’ve noticed there is a trend to get away from fences on the left and right side of the miter saw due to stock that doesn’t have a perfectly flat or straight edge causing the angle of the cut to be off a degree or so. Have you had any issues like this with your setup? Ron
@InsiderCarpentry
@InsiderCarpentry 4 жыл бұрын
The fence wings should be set back from the saw fence. Only the saw fence should be used in aligning the work piece for the cut.
