No one had a better swing than Els in his prime! I love his book how to build a classic swing. He really emphasizes the fundamentals! Keeping the right knee flexed in the backswing has really helped my swing! Thank you for the instruction! Excellent!

I often just try and have the words Ernie Els as my swing thought to try and keep my mind uncluttered and remind myself to swing easy. Hopefully with this tip I can actually swing a bit like him. Been out for a few months due to a carpal tunnel op on my right hand but hopefully I'm back for a few rounds at least before I have to get my bloody left hand done as well. It's bloody killin me not be able to play 😕

This an excellent lesson :I may add two points : 1To get the club shaft fully cocked when going to the top ,you must improve th flexibility of your two wrists 2There's are excellent training aids to teach to keep the club shaft from releasing to early during the downswing :one of them is a club with a "Sliding " right hand grip which moves from the "split hand "position you demonstrate to the position 2 hands together

My thoughts exactly John the action being similar to an ice hockey slap shot, try and keep your right elbow close to your right hip on the downswing through impact the contact is so solid. Ps. get a set of these Hogan blades there can’t be any better out there.

hi Alex are you saying from the L position in the backswing that the arms and hands drop into the slot as a result of the weight shift and not the rotation and as you maintain the L position when does the beginning of the release start at the belt buckle or at the left thigh kindly advise thanks for your help Jack

Enjoy your videos! And your tips have helped. However, when I move my shoulders down in the transition to the downswing, I pull the ball left more often. I’m having difficulty with your explanation of “not swaying” with the shoulder moving down. Do you have another suggestion to prevent that from happening on the downswing? Thanks!

Most people with that smooth long swing do have a little heavier club than those who get too handsy.... sooooooo OFTEN i see those with light weights too try to create speed lose all the smoothness and sweet spot impact.... people really need to figure out their natural swing to measure the right shaft weights + flex for that smoooooth Ernie Els swing ....
