If the gate is used a LOT, put a jam nut on the turnbuckle (right hand side).

A 45 degree diagonal wooden from the corner above the latch to below the lower hinge would brace the gate so that it would not sag in the first place,. Basic carpentry!
@fastflo12 ай бұрын
I do like Z Braces. They sag also overtime ….. They all sag no matter what . So add a truss . 👍🏻

I agree. For the price it seems to be a decent kit. I have not had any complaints at all. Like you said, if you do not go overboard it works great.

Use a “Z” brace and the gate won’t sag and you’ll never need to adjust it. Get rid of those janky gate brackets and build a proper gate. Clients don’t like cables stretched across their gates and possibly hurting their kids or pets, you have effectively made a loaded spring and left it exposed
@fastflo12 ай бұрын
The customer chose the materials to install . So ……

@@Lyonscarpentryno you are the installer of the material so you are liable
@jasongirvan67292 ай бұрын
@Tekagi I guess you really have no idea. I’ve been a contractor for over 25 years and know that anything you put in you are liable for (the business not the employees). It doesn’t matter if the customer supplied the materials you as a business take on all responsibility for anything you install. Yes torsion rods are common but not cables for the fact that they break and cause injuries. In Canada you are liable for 7 years for anything you install for liability. It’s your due diligence that everything you install is safe according to all codes and laws. So as a business maybe go and learn what you are liable for regardless of what the client gives you to install.

You can do that … you will be adjusting sooner that’s all…. This takes the initial sag out so you won’t need to adjust it for a long time . But you are right though you can definitely do that .

I no longer offer wood framed gates, all galvanized wielded frames for me. Light weight and won't sage
@fastflo12 ай бұрын
I love the metal frames also. Some customers supply their own materials. In this case they wanted a budget Home Depot fence so I built it for them . I always add the truss so the gate will actually work for a while 😀

A wood frame gate can be made NO SAG. Just made another one for a client. Takes engineering skill and extra effort. Not for Con-Qwackters…. Never ever seen any Con-Qwackter of any skill level EVER make a “NO SAG” wooden gate properly …. Always lazy, shortcuts , and lacking engineering knowledge. It’s not in them! Takes a real engineer. Sad to say too, because this is NOT ROCKET SCIENCE.
