I am super excited to see how you get this to work. I was thinking of doing something similar to my gl1000 but I was going to use an efi kit for a 70’s bug. I was also thinking of throwing in a AMR500 supercharger while I was in there just for fun!! Can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Replace those coolant tube O rings. Learned the hard way, even just bumping into them while getting the carb assy out it created a leak. 4, O' rings and two elbow gaskets.

I am running GM tbi. How do you plan on powering it?

I scored an Ms3Pro on eBay. The problem with TBI, if you don’t have a heated manifold, you get the same icing problems as a carburetor. What’d you do for a manifold?

A good carb clean and kit for 240 from Randakk's will fix that issue for many years. That is far cheaper than but not as efficient as FI. Whatcha want for the carbs you are taking off? Hot Tip there is an after market locking device for the cam gears on the drive sprockets. 1 bolt fastening and it locks them in place, the left one facing the bike from the front is the one that always moves due to spring tension. It also is the 1 mark that may be slightly off but the Left one NEEDS to be dead on. The Center Stand is easy peasy, watch this 30 sec video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eIWuZmuQaKZ6aLM I've removed my carbs many times and NEVER ONCE had to remove those engine guards. The weight is a counter balance for the Fairing and yes to stabilize the front end at highway speeds. i am following along cause though I would not toss 1600+ into that old of a bike, but then again each of us have our area's of specialties. Good Luck.

Yeah, I’ve got some more video digging into the timing belt. The left one was never tensioned and is off a tooth. The right one seems fine. As for the money going into the bike, eh, it’s a hobby, not an investment. @@1ManWrenching the left one can be off a half to full tooth off, which is not abnormal.

Have you still got your scout?

Sadly, no. Ran into a financial hardship and had to hawk it for some cash. It was unfortunate.
