They were rivals in history but now they are friends and partners. Efren teamed up with Earl in 2018 in his farewell tour and the doube E defeated a lot of European teams. Earl really learnt how to treat people nicely and Efren forgave him.

In Efren's first ever professional straight pool [he said straight pool, not 8 ball] Efren ran over 100 in pretty much ever match, and looked like a long time pro, despite have never played it competitively before, and having only had the duration of the tournament to learn the patterns. If anything, he is a BETTER straight pool player than he is a 9 ball player.

Efren is an amazing straight pool player, he dominated everyone in his first professional straight pool comp and although I didnt see them all, I remember watching one of the matches of the tourney where the commentators were saying how you could literally see the progressions he made day by day as he got accustomed to the game. And in that match (its on youtube somewhere) he played amazing.

I gotta give credit where credit is due, back about 6 months from the time of this match, Efren just owned Mike Sigel in the King of the Hill final.... and what I really appreciate about Mike is the way he talked about Efren here. There was ZERO sour grapes about HIS lost and only admiration and respect from Mike. I know he's known as "the mouth" but even while he does talk a lot during his play, he always remains respectful of his opponent. Something Earl could've learned a little while playing. I still love Earl.... Earl is Earl and he's his own worst enemy at times but there's no denying his brilliance at 9 ball. As for Mike, I hope people realized when he got whooped by Reyes in 2005 .... he'd been retired for over 10 years.... and clearly not in his Prime stroke. But I appreciate his attitude and to me, that's what makes a real Legend of the sport.👏👏👏

I read that either in the official billiards rule book or a magazine article in Billiards Digest. I also read that in England they don't call it "english" they call it "side" or "spin." Looking back even further in pool history, players used the fat end of the stick as the front but used the skinny tail end (called the"Que") on rail shots.
