For the speed carousel you guys went on. Are you aware why it is there? It is actually a really old original steam carousel that used to travel (later converted to electric power for safety while still in use). It was eventually bought by the efteling to keep in good condition and preserve the machine as the last existing ex-traveling steam carrousel in the Netherlands. In a way it was also a mayor source of inspiration by one of the original efteling authors (Anton Pieck). It's a great piece of history even before the Efteling got it.

Nooo dude! The wooden coaster is the best! It's only got a single bar as protection and that coaster rattles and shakes the fillings out of your mouth, throws you from left to right in that bench and has some very low overhangs.. I love that thing. It's raw. It's authentic. :)

I love Efteling but I remembered this year a park,20 miles from Efteling names “DippieDoe Attractiepark”and it’s a neat little park too if you want to spend some time in the area. This park is really reminds me of Crealy adventure park since they have an indoor-outdoor area and have a lot of playgrounds with some mechanical rides”Hell,they even have an angry birds themed playground” Since this is a family park tho,I’m not expecting you to spend here a lot of time,maximum 2 hours will be enough. The attractions are for family’s too with the highlights will be a little droptower and maybe a wave swinger and their pirate ship. You can get here 2 coaster credits which are cool: Dolle Pier(or “Mad Earthworm” in English)-this coaster was build just last year(2018)by SBF visa and this is their wacky worm coaster,despite it tho it’s have a pretty decent theming,with a nice dragon statue and a train shaped like cars in stead of the usual worm cars. But it’s just your average wacky worm. Tyfoon-this coaster is one of a kind since it’s the only Zeirer comet model ever been build by them. Originally this was build in 1989 in Tivoli gardens and was called Slangen(or “The Comet” in English) but was brought to DippieDoe in 2011 and was given a nice blue track color. The ride is actually pretty fun and gives a good ride for a family coaster,it gives solid ride and this coaster alone might sent you here since it’s a good and unique credit to get. Yes,this park is not big but they have some great things for them,not too expensive but a little expensive as well,good indoor and outdoor sections,nice family attractions and plenty of food to eat. I hoping as a blogger you will come and show to people how good this park can be,and it’s might remind you of Crealy adventure park since they have the same nature,and it’s good to spend here couple of hours if you are in the area too.

As a Dutch person I can assure you that most stereotypically Dutch families that have young children will most likely celebrate 'Sinterklaas', which is the holiday you mentioned during the video. It is on the 5th of December and most children will get some smaller presents in their shoes prior to the grand celebration of the holiday that will include large gifts on the 5th of December. However, it is a highly controversial holiday due to the tradition of 'black Pete' which has led to public and political discussions all year round. As a result I have seen several families turn away from this holiday. Many of these families will spend more time and/or money on their preparations for the actual Christmas celebrations. But many Dutch families seem to celebrate both holidays as far as I am aware. Christmas is the largest public holiday in the Netherlands contrary to popular beliefs. It is a family holiday here which takes up the 25th and 26th of December. Usually people will visit their families and have a nice festive dinner together. Most people give gifts to their loved ones and very close friends and Christmas cards are being sent or given to co-workers and aquaintances. A lot of workplaces will give their staff at least one of these days off and shops (with the exception of 1 or 2 supermarkets) will be closed at least one of the 2 days of Christmas. As for the 24th of December, some people do celebrate Christmas eve, my family being one of them, but as far as I am aware of, most people celebrate Christmas on the 25th and 26th only.

Thank you for the information!
@Widdekuu916 жыл бұрын
+Beccs B I can understand how the Christmas-holiday is most popular, if both celebrate it :P If I had to pick one, it'd be Sinterklaas, but I celebrate both (just very differently, there's no gifts involved with Kerstmis/Christmas.) And some people continue celebrating Sinterklaas after the children grow up, others don't. We did haha, I'm currently 27 and we had a great amount of poems this Sinterklaas. It's my favorite holiday.
@Smallpotato19656 жыл бұрын
as a (somewhat older) Dutch person, I can assure you that the whole 'gift giving' on Christmas is a relatively young concept to us Dutch. When I was a kid (fortyfive years ago or so), you got presents from Sinterklaas on december 5th. Christmas, however, was a religious feast and had a far more holy, intimate and quietly joyeous atmosphere. This whole garish, loud and empty 'festiveness' is something that crept in in the early nineties and I hate it. All our social adhesive has been under attack and been eroded bit by bit for the past half century or so.
@Widdekuu916 жыл бұрын
@@Smallpotato1965 It's Americanisation...the trend of giving gifts during Christmas comes from America, just like Halloween. SintMaarten is not as popular anymore.
@TheBushdoctor686 жыл бұрын
@@Smallpotato1965 Agreed up to that very last sentence. I think that what you cal our social adhesive being under Attack, is just progression and evolution of a nation. Things change, whether we like it or not, and it has been happening since way before we were born. Having said that, I don't think things are changing that much. You pointed out that Christmas has gained a more commercial role in society, but that doesn't mean that Sinterklaas' status has diminished. - I'm curious, what do you consider to have been eroded from our society in the past half century or so? Can you name some specific examples perhaps?

Did you know that every room of Fatamorgana has a diverend smell? I have workt at the Efteling by the bob on the restaurand for a year and learnd so many cool facts! Also the stop at the hill for Baron 1989 is 3 sec. You hang there 3 sec before you dive in the cave. With Joris if your in water you go over water. And if your in fire you your see the dragen and it spits fire right before you arive.. My grandfather painted the carousel before he was sold to the efteling and before that it was every once a week on the market in Wormerveer ! :)

Yeah, the first version is much better, particularly because it ends on "Danse Macabre", which is a timeless piece of amazing classical music. When I watched that show the first time, I think by the end of it, I had tears in my eyes. Every version since has felt like a failed attempt to be equally impressive. But as much as I like the Efteling's original composers, they just can't beat a genius like Camille Saint-Saëns.

The goal @Joris en de Draak is 30 sets (60 trains) per hour, the average is around 25 sets per hour. Dispatch time depends on things like disabled people, scarfs & hats, phones, etcetera. As an employee @Efteling, I prefer working at Joris en de Draak. Great video and have awonderful 2019!
