I think the concept is a great idea! I hope they develop this more to where you can “update the updater” without having to send back to EG4. It would also be nice if they developed this for other hardware as well.

I bought the communication hub but I could never get it to connect. SS could not help me with hooking it up. HELP.

Try contacting EG4. It could be something as simple as the dip switches. Or you may need to update the firmware in your lifepower4 batteries and change the baude rate on the hub.

I got one coming to work with y new yet tobe installed 18k. Hope the undater can be updated if ever becomes necessary. The laptop with the cable never worked for be despite lots of tech support.

As of right now the updater can’t be updated. You shouldn’t have any issues using the updater though. Very easy little device.

Updater has overwrite protection on it. If they come out with another firmware update later I would bet you’ll have to get another auto updater from SS. Also updating via laptop you need a write cable as read cable will not work. Also the App Baud Rate for a write cable communication needs to be set to 19200 instead of the 9600 used for the read cable. That can be changed in the BMS Test software. Hope this helps.

I have the a problem with my two 48V batteries connected in parallel, the voltage dropped from 50V to cut off voltage in the presence of the utility n solar, but the SOC remains at 100%, can it be a firmware issue?

I haven’t seen this issue. Give EG4 a call. Updating the firmware definitely wouldn’t hurt. That very well could help.

I noticed the Bulk and Float voltages under the 3.37 firmware is lower. Do you know why they changed it. Last firmware I was on Bulk/Float was 58.4V. Thanks

I didn’t see the change. It could be something to do with longevity or balancing.

I think it might be that 58.4v will put the battery BMS into an over voltage condition on some cells. 58.4v seems a little high for bulk charging voltage.

Do they have this for the EG4 LL (V2) upgrade to make them EG4 LL S to enable RSD??? If yes, where or how do I get it?

As of right now no. For the LL models you have to download the firmware online and use a laptop to upload it.

That’s a swell device! I wonder if you can plug the updater into your laptop and refresh the firmware package that it sends to the battery.

I can never get my batteries to balance. Right now 6 of them have a spread of 9% to 35% at an overall soc of 20%.

@@GavinStoneDIY yeah, and SS had me cycle the batteries to 56.2 volts for a period of two weeks but it’s right back to the same thing. I think they need to charge to a higher voltage.

How many batteries do you have? How small is your load over night? Do your batteries report 100% SOC?

@@APatchworkCanvas sometimes it’s the little things you don’t suspect. Is it random? Or are the bottom batteries lower soc than the top?
