They have basically stuck the equivalent of 2 3000EHV-48 in 1 package with better software and for less than the 2 units. The included switches make this a very attractive option. One could run a dryer off this. The higher VOC and lower power consumption are the most attractive features for off grid performance. It is on my radar to replace a MPP 6548 which will move to an RV.

On the PV side of the 480 VOC inputs, is that 480 VOC input per MPPT, or 480 VOC TOTAL for both MPPTs? Anybody know, please? I cannot find that info anywhere listed!!

I think this is THE product. This provides enough capacity, at a low enough price point, for folks to get started with a system that is robust enough, but also expandable. I predict they are going to sell a LOT of these Lux Power inverters.

When you bought the 6500ex, did it do what you wanted it to do?

@@nasanction yes and no. I had some issues with my initial unit and it wound up going up in smoke. The second unit worked okay but I was always very hesitant with it. I just wish I had waited a little bit longer since the 6500ex is a tad shorter than the 6000xp and its throwing a wrench into my build

@@nasanction Sort of. This industry is rapidly expanding and it's hard to know when you're on the cutting edge or the back of the blade. When the 6500ex was released, I assumed it was cutting edge (perhaps, it was for a year) but it was quickly outclassed and is now sun-downed by eg4. Had I known a 12k would have come to market, I might have waited to get the 6000xp. The market is evolving so fast that it's hard to know where we are at. I think you're on the right page looking at current needs being met but I would rather drive a ferrari than a honda, even if they both get me from point A to point B.

I had a 6500EX-48 and used it in the SUB mode. I looked through the manual and don't see a similar mode setting. Can the 6000XP be set up to work this way?

For my eg4 6000, and two batteries; Is it possible that when my batteries are filled up. I can stop using the battery power, and just switch over to the grid or just PV power, and preserve my battery power for when i need it?

Please help me understand the 3kw line imbalance ability of this unit. From Will Prowse's video it seemed like this unit did NOT have imbalance capability. So for example, if I have an imbalance on my L1 and L2, like 2kw load on L1 and 4kw load on L2, am I okay?

NO! you can push up to 3000W total on either leg. Think of it as 2 3000W inverters in parallel. Up to 6000W can be supplied as 240V. You can mix and match loads as long as no leg exceeds 3000W continuous. For example you could have a 2KW load on one leg and a 1KW load on the other, Since you have 1KW capacity left on the 1st leg, it limits a 240V load to 2 KW (2x1KW).

Can this connect directly to a small generator? Most common failure of AC charging circuit is "dirty" generators. The new chargeverter function prevents damaging the AC charging circuit. Does this unit need the chargeverter?

@n911 it wires into the generator input breaker, yes as log as generator has a 220/240 output. It will not charge on 1 leg of 120v

I have this unit set up as a UPS with a EG4 power pro battery, no solar yet. Question what would happen if I lost one leg of grid coming in ? would it switch to battery until it's dead ? would it charge with only one leg at reduced amps. Has anyone tested this ? Could you try it and tell me what happens> Thank you ..

Can this inverter still power the house if the battery failed? As in PV->AC? I know most still need battery for power with full sun. Looking for inverter that would still work while batteries are down/inRMA.

Watch the video from Will Prowse - yes, it will pass through AC if the battery failed. Not sure if the MPPT would like it, but probably smart enough to not be an issue.

Been checking out off grid inverters for some time and this is the best idea yet! Building an off grid system with PV and batteries is a pain for all of the additional components code requires being sold seperately and having to wire it all in! Having breakers and a PV disconnect are gamechangers! The only thing missing is the battery disconnect and it would be a true plug n' play!

The 18K is a hybrid unit that can supply power to the grid which is why one would get that device. This unit is a grid tied (AC charging battery and pass through), off grid unit. No selling power back to a utility.

Quick question, if I use 2 of these in parallel to replace my current 2x 6500ex setup, would there be 4 hot wires? Since each inverter needs split phase to output the 6k potential, how does wiring go to the load center when using 2 in parallel 🤔

Each inverter outputs AC thru a 240v 25amp breaker. Take each inverter's L1 & L2 AC output into a load center into a 240v 25amp breaker. You then have (2) 240v 25 amp breakers in your load center giving you 50 amps of power at 240v.

No thanks. I would never install a low cost, lightweight, short lived, low surge capacity, high frequency, trandformerless inverter charger in my off grid home. Instead high would install a heavy duty, long lived, low frequency transformer based inverter charger. Low frequency inverters offer a far longer life expectancy, they run much cooler. And because they include an iron core, copper would output transformer, they offer safer operation and a much higher 300%+ surge capacity for starting and running high inductance off grid loads. An inverter is the workhorse of an off grid system, and is not something that you ever want to skimp on.
