Hello Adam, once again thanks for all your info, very helpful, but I would like to know what is the PV Arc fault protection for? And also I've been totally off grid for about a year now with a 12 volt inverter and solar setup, I just purchased the EG4 6000XP along with 10 Aptos 370W Bifacial Solar panels and really looking forward to get this system up and running, my issue is I do not have any type of server rack batteries that would communicate with the EG4 6000XP, what i do have are 4 12 volt Power Queen 200Ah each with 200 amp BMS run in series, i don't have a inverter generator or any option for ac input from the grid, my question is would it be possible for you to do a video going through what the settings would be for DIYers like myself and others that might be in the same situation, if a video is possible for my setup and for others in the same situation it would be greatly appreciated, thank you very much for your time, Ken.
@AdamDeLayDIY

Thanks for the kind words Ken! As far as the arc fault, I believe the PV Arc fault looks attempts to detect potential shorts in your PV lines. If it detects a short, it should disable PV charging. Congrats on the new gear! First thing you would want to do is make sure that you can put the power queen batteries in series to make a 48v battery. You would need to check the documentation. In my install/initial thoughts video, there's a section for setting up initial parameters when you don't have battery communication: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o4GTanp5pLeSiJI. Assuming you can wire the power queen batteries in series (4 of them), you would then take the battery parameters for 1 power queen battery, multiply by 4 (to get the 48v equivalent) and then use that value to program the charge/discharge values on the inverter. I don't actually have any 12v batteries that I can put in series as an example. Hope that helps!

@AdamDeLay07 Thanks Adam for such a quick reply, really do appreciate your info, I did contact Power Queen and they said it's perfectly fine to connect all 4 of the batteries in series for a 48 volt system and they did send me the parameters or settings for those batteries run in series, also thanks for the link to your video on setting up initial parameters with no battery communication, definitely gonna watch it today and I'm sure it's gonna be a great help, once again thank you very much, Ken.

Thanks for the video. I was under the impression that there was no way to turn off the inverter side (and accompanied idle consumption and noise) while the mppt still charge the battery. You talk about standby mode- or the eps switch. Have you tried this? Looking for a definitive answer as to whether i could use the 6000xp with the inverter off but still bring in charge current through the mppts and utilizing DC loads - off the battery through a dc-dc converter 48-12v and or a small inverter that is super quiet. Yeah the "Working Mode" page for settings seems to be an updated interface that they're working on. So the "Working Mode Settings" section allows you to determine how you want the inverter to run at certain times. Do you want it to Charge from AC, do you want it to only run on Grid or do you want it to operate in a normal "Battery first" state (self consumption). It really gives you the ability to fine tune your system based on your needs. As far as the error you receive, do you have battery communication set up between your inverter and batteries? If so, everything will be based on SOC and not voltage. Glad to be able to help!

The new page doesn't have a float voltage setting. I just changed the float voltage setting on the old page to 55v successfully and it appears to have started charging the battery (hopefully to 55v). I still can't change the AC Charge Start Battery Voltage(V) (It gives me the error 3) but it looks like changing the float voltage causes it to start charging (slowly - ~100W).
@AdamDeLayDIY
@AdamDeLayDIY 2 ай бұрын
@@MarkSpohr I don't think you can set the "AC Charge Start Battery Voltage" to a higher voltage than you have set for the "Charge Voltage". AC Charge Start Battery Voltage is used to tell the system when you want to start charging from the AC IN connection. Typically that's going to be a significantly lower value than the Charge Voltage because you want to use the battery power you have stored up. You set the Charge Start value to a low voltage threshold before your system switches over to AC IN/Grid power.

@@peterpuertorico5925 I don’t believe Chin batteries have communication ability with a 6000 XP inverter. So you would end up setting your values to voltage and not SOC. Option 11 is going to be a shut down voltage that you want your inverter to completely turn off and stop outputting power. It’s kind of like a safety net to keep your batteries from hitting a low-voltage disconnect. Option 12 is going to be the voltage that you want to set your inverter to switch back to the grid to power loads. As far as values, it’s kinda hard to say. I know there’s charts out there that show you a correlation between voltage and SOC for LifePo4 batteries but they’re not that accurate. There’s not a 1 to 1 match between voltage and SOC. You would probably want to set both at or above the Chins low voltage warning level. Just make sure option 12 is higher than 11 if you have grid connected.

@@evilsadvocate they do have a new working mode section of their website control panel, which will allow you to designate the specific time frames that you want to charge from the grid and then all other times are designated as discharge times. So that sounds like exactly what you would want to configure in order to use those cheap overnight rates.

@@AdamDeLayDIY I suppose my big concern is that, If im discharging the batteries during the middle of the day, and my battery state of charge is really low, is there some type of setting to switch over to the batteries (like a UPC) even if they are below the configurable dont use batteries threshold? I love the idea of banking the elericity when cheap but is there a setting for going back to grid when batteries are at say 40%SOC but still continue to discharge beyond that 40% if the grid goes down? Thanks for replying to my comments im just terrified to order a product that doesnt fit my needs c:

@@slugbyte Not a problem! It did seem a little sluggish at first on refreshing the data, but it picked back up. If it happens again, I would first verify the lights are up on the dongle and then I would go to the Maintenance page on either the monitoring site or the app and see if you can read data from the inverter. So if you have two inverters, I assume you have to do this for each inverter. I understand that the newest software will allow you to see a combined screen/web interface (when using multiple inverters), so you don't have to do the math to see the total numbers. Have you seen this yet?
@AdamDeLayDIY

I believe you still have to program each one, but I’m not aware of all if the capabilities of a paralleled system. I have seen images of the combined web interface which allows you to see a “system level” picture instead of just an individual inverter.

@@gt500shelby9 this is a 240v split phase inverter. You can get 120v by going from one of the hot leg outputs to neutral. There is no specific setting to switch it to 120v. There was a recent firmware update which allows you to output 120v if you have a 120v generator hooked up, but that’s it.

You can use the display to program most of the settings. I think there's only a few advanced settings that are only accessible from the web portal (fan control, factory reset). Even the mobile app doesn't have some of the same advanced settings that the display is missing. You can do all your initial config from the display though. That's what I did. The mobile app/web app just makes it easier to make changes because you don't have to scroll through menus and options on the inverter display.

I am past the frustration phase with eg4. I purchased the 2.4kw all in one system and it's nothing but problems. Why a company would sell a system that is not plug and go is beyond me. I imagine buying a Tesla vehicle but the battery doesn't communicate with the car or the charger and you have to figure that out. - Looking at either getting money back or smashing it with a hammer.
@AdamDeLayDIY
@AdamDeLayDIY 6 ай бұрын
What 2.4kw system are you talking about? I'm not aware of anything like that. Most inverter based systems require some wiring to do a full install. The AC side of things is usually what takes the longest but it really depends on what loads you're looking to power from the inverter. It sounds to me like you want one of those larger portable power stations like the Anker F3800 or the EcoFlow Delta Max. That's about as "plug and play" as you can get (unless you're looking at have it power your entire house).
