To the negative comments… Give them a break. This is free content that most likely will help someone. If you were that ‘someone’ I bet you are happy to learn what was offered. I’ve done video production for years. Yes, they can do things better. I’m sure they will get better with constructive criticism. Not with mudd slinging garbage comments. Matt, listen to the feedback that makes you a better teacher. Keep up the good work. 👍

Dave S. It takes just a few minutes to set up a good presentation, like having the camera on the display and not sideways. That is pathetic for a company that can’t seem to want to be bothered. James does the same thing with his videos so it may be in their culture. If you’ve done video production for years and can’t see the benefits of doing good work, well I expect I know why..

Good info. You make it look easy 😎 Can you show us how you could connect multi plus 2 ( Victron) to your batteries?
@janmulder398
@janmulder398 Жыл бұрын
From my experience, hook the MPPT, Multiplus and the top UTP of the EG4 battery to your Cerbo. Hook up you Multiplus with your laptop using your MK3-USB adapter, adjust the bank size, float current, bulk current, charge/discharge current and make sure it's set on Lithium. Afterwards, open up your Victron connect app and connect to the Multiplus, set the parameters using installer code ZZZ and adjust the amount of batteries in serial and parallel. Save settings. Make sure your batteries are connected in the settings you just put in, do not, i repeat, do not hook them up to your Multiplus yet. Start the bank bij powering on each battery, let them level for a while, power everything off again and hook up your inverter. Start the system, and enjoy! Ps. Make sure everything is up to date, check for updates on your VRM portal.

Do you guys have a complete AC coupled system to add to existing GT systems (split 120v/240v)? The new system must be able to: While Grid is on: 1. Continue to buy and sell power from grid as needed/available as is happening currently. 2. Charge battery during off peak rate hours (8am-4pm) and discharge battery during peak rate hours (4-9). 3. Stop discharging at a set min battery soc to allow for nighttime blackout. While Grid is out: 1. System must be able to separate itself from the grid. 2. Turn on existing GT Inverter to generate power. 3. Charge batteries with existing grid tied panels/inverter power, supply critical loads. 4. Throttle or turn off Grid tied inverter when batteries reach full soc.

Wayne, to clarify: a "plateau'd" charge curve is a flat one, that stays at a voltage longer than others. This means if you manually configure the inverter to charge to a specific voltage, that voltage might be achieved early on in the charging cycle. This could lead to charging ending before the full amount of time required to get the batteries up to the desired %.

Hi. I have ten EGLL batteries. 9 are EGLL v1 and one is EGLL v2. The v2 is operating as my master. I have three Growatt ES5000’s. I am having trouble getting all three ES5000’s to what together. Question: Do I need a CAN box to run the master battery in and then three Ethernet cables to run one each into the separate ES5000’s? Right now, my batteries are not charging sometimes in the day time, while PV power is only going to my loads. I really would appreciate some guidance on this. Scared to go out of town because not sure if batteries will have enough power to support my loads in the night time while I am gone. Thanks
@SignatureSolar
@SignatureSolar 8 ай бұрын
You will need to update the firmware of the v1 batteries to communicate with the v2 batteries via the multipack firmware (drive.google.com/file/d/1KxW-_6Tb_oySMM2Pgo9lUhbz88yB1KbK/view?usp=sharing ). You will not need a can hub to communicate between the 3 5000's to the batteries. You will just want to set up the growatts in parallel, set the battery setting (setting 5) to LI then it will bring you to a sub menu and you will change that to L01. You will want to do this for each inverter. You will have just one straight through cat 5 or cat 6 cable going from the inverters bms port to the master battery's rs485 port (the v2 battery). The paralleling cables from each growatt will carry the batteries communication. If you run into any issues along the way let us know, our tech team is happy to assist!

@tap836
@tap836 Жыл бұрын
@@SignatureSolar And yet the manual hosted on the batteries purchase page still appears wrong. Having OFF be up and ON be down in the manual is backwards from logic and what the battery label shows. And the manual pin positions (side to side) are opposite from what the battery actually does. The battery requires you to read the binary from left to right instead of the standard right to left which was used by the manual. Having all your documentation not match the physical product is troubling and no wonder it leads to so many problems and confusion from users.

@@tap836 You are absolutely correct. I'm stuck with error 4 and 20, and it is probably due to the documentation. I've tried other dip switch configurations, but nothing seems to work. A simple addendum, placed in the box would do wonders for the end users.
@tap836
@tap836 Жыл бұрын
@@donaldbishop923 One thing to do to wrap your head around the dip switch numbering, is to grab the BMS test software from the battery product page. Connect a computer to one isolated battery using their provided cable, then use the software to scan the whole id range. One ID should appear as in use and that corresponds to your dip switch setting. For my Lifepower 4 48v batteries, down is off, and the 4 switches are using binary read left to right. So ▲▼▼▼ (Up Down Down Down) is 1 ▼▲▼▼ is 2 ▲▲▼▼ is 3 etc. If you understand how binary works, that should make sense.

It's a good demo, the sound just sucks. I"m used to watching Will Prose channel, but here you are showing how to hook them up in a Server Rack unlike Will Prose has so far. So far I'm going with this unit for my Tiny House Trailer that I'm building this year. additionally you are showing the Grow Watt sideways. You could do such a better demo than this. Start over. just saying.

Matt did a terrific job in showing us the details of connecting up the batteries, but the video was a fail. This has happened on a few other Signature Solar presentations where no concern is given to the camera setup. It is so amateur-ish. The camera is looking sideways on the inverter and is not focused on the display. If Will was running this, that wouldn’t happen. Growing pains I guess. Plus, if you want to use a MPPP or Victron inverter, you are out of luck…

Good stuff. There is a David Poz video where he says when turning on multiple batteries, the voltage must be within .1 VDC. Does not sound right. Any truth to that?

@Richard from Signature Solar @Signature Solar Hello Richard, I have a 5 battery setup on a SS rack and the 2nd and 4th (from the bottom) seem to be discharging at a different rate from the others...Those two batteries will have 2 flashing SOC lights vs the other ones showing 3 SOC lights after a night run on two AC units....I had read that the positive and negative cables going to the inverter should be at opposite ends on their respective bus bars; Have mine setup as such; still facing the issue. I did make sure on initial set up that all batteries were on same voltage. Please help

@@samueljlallemandjr8612 if still a problem, maybe use 2/0 gauge wire if you are using 2 gauge.

Thanks @@5slabs that is what I am planning to do soon. Charging the batteries individually as we speak with the SS charger to get them back in sync.

You guys need to get your stories straight. Another recently released video by S.S claimed that your DIP switches needed to be 3 down and one up!

Whoa... Gentle, Richard! Little Bee Honey Farm is raising a valid point. In SS's video titled "EGYLL BMS Communications with Growatt Inverters (5000ES & others)", SS responded (9 days ago) to Jay Ess's question by saying "On EGYLL the master is 3 down 1 up". It seems to me it's a fair question that doesn't deserve the brush off that you just offered.

@@corba197 I'm not yelling, just excited to share. And on the EG4LL battery, the dipswitch configuration is 3 down 1 up. The EG4LL is a different model than the LifePower4. Which is why my reply was "Depends on the battery..." This is Richard from Signature Solar by the way :D

Interesting info Richard. Yet which raises an additional question. Why does it matter as far as which battery you have? I was under the understanding per S.S”s own advertising that the EG4 is simply the Gyll battery which was rebranded. It was said they are the same batteries, only rebranded. So is there indeed a difference?? Just trying to understand the need for different comm addresses for what was said to be the same battery. Thanks for your help!!
