I remember one of my biggest incidents when I was an inspector was when I failed a contractor doing a dentist office and didn't use Hospital grade MC or Receptacles in the dental operatory circuits. Everybody in the Neanderthal area that I live in thought that you only needed hospital grade MC in hospital grade receptacles in patient sleeping areas because they never bothered to read the code. The dental operatory is deemed a critical care area due to the use of nitrous oxide and other agents that could incapacitate the patient. I stood my ground and had to recite the code to every idiot in the entire region.

@@devinpratt4644 Years ago one of the large downtown Philly hospitals decided to only use type AC cable ( ya BX ) in patient area. After a patient received a shock they got caught and had to pull out the BX and install the proper cable.

Great video for the electricians that read! Feel bad for the others who don’t.

Not a fan of using EMT conduit has a grounding path. Have seen it pulled out of both compression & set screw couplings & box connectors along with rusting out.

If I rewire my house I'll be using MCAP-HCF for this reason 😅

Retired from a large hospital and would burn me up on two issues: From around 1980 to at least 2010 Philadelphia electrical code stated that aluminum wires were no longer allowed for ground wire. ( PA does not have a state license ) . Electrical contractor would install 12/2 HCF cable with a #10 bare aluminum wire. The lazy noogoodnics cut the #10 solid aluminum wire maybe 4" long with exposed sharp edge & push it into wall case. Asked how do they get away with that aluminum wire & why don't they tape off or install a pressure connector on sharp end. At two IAEI meetings I questioned the cable presenter & inspectors if that was legal in Philadelphia. Nobody gave me ayes or a no. Also thought that on every steel stud that a patient room receptacle was mounted on they should runs #12 copper ground wire to.

You have to use the 'old' soft plastic wire nuts, I think Red was better than Yellow...
