I just purchased two Rite Farm incubators the 264 and the 352. Maybe I have not seen all of the videos on them but the one thing I found out is how to use the egg tray correctly. I was trying to get the egg tray to fit into the yellow bin but it just did not want to lay flat in the yellow bin. If you watch the videos you see the yellow bin in the incubator all the time never just the egg tray. I called Rite Farm to ask them why it did not work correctly. What I was told is that some people force the egg tray into the yellow bin but what you really should do is to set your eggs in the egg tray and place them in the incubator. When it is time to put them into lock-down you pull out the egg tray and place the yellow bin over the egg tray and gently but firmly turn it over. (I put one hand under the egg tray and one over the yellow bin when I flip it over) Remove the egg tray and put the yellow bin full of eggs back into the incubator. WOW it works just like the commercial guys do if you do it that way. Supper easy fast and takes a matter of a few seconds to do it. It is also way easy to candle your eggs outside of the yellow bin than in it.

So that's why they don't fit! Thank you for the info, we will definitely try that out when we get the incubator up and running.

Great video and helpful information sir. So all the eggs have same temperature and humidity and pretty much same settings. I saw one of your answers that you need to change humidity during the 3 days of hatching. Since the hatching eggs are in the same incubator with others still incubating on top, what happens if you raise humidity to above 75% or so for hatching during those 3 days? Or do you also hatch at same humidity (60%) as during incubation. I saw some instructions on raising humidity during hatching, then started wondering what happens to the incubating eggs in the same incubator if you are using same cabinet like this. Thank you
@The10AcreWoods3 жыл бұрын
Good question, all the eggs start incubating at the same time. If you are to stagger the start time per tray then you should move the hatching eggs into another incubator with a higher humidity for the last 3 days. Hope it helps.
@ishy12943 жыл бұрын
@@The10AcreWoods Thanks for the reply. Wow, there is need for accurate timing if you have different species in there like you do. Timing different species to hatch same time is hard. Better to have a second incubator set at higher humidity.

Thanks for the reply. I did have a poultry farm before about 25 years but then I gave it up. I am from Bangladesh. In our country we have had a revolution in the poultry industry. You will find hundreds and thousands of poultry farm all over the country. We have 160 million people to feed, so the demand is very high. However, in this sector, the biggest devils are the companies who produce the baby chicks or parent stock eggs. Because of the very high price at this point (chicks or eggs), many people are now turning to produce their own chicks by buying/making small incubators. Recently I have made a small workshop to produce incubators. I am importing the controllers from China and rest everything is available in Bangladesh. To make a 500 egg capacity incubator, it costs me only about 180 US$ (because raw materials and labor is cheap here). I will take the cost further down when I will make my own controller using a micro-controller chip (AT Mega 328). I am writing the codes now and hope to finish it including designing & making the PCB for it soon. I watch lots of you tube videos on hatching and incubators to learn so that I can improve upon my one. Your video was very much helpful from that point of view. Thanks again.

Hi Ayoob, You could go with 2 Pro-528 Incubators. ritefarm.com/products.html 1000 chickens should have ~1000 square meters inside (if they never go out) and ~500 square meters outside. They will start to lay eggs between 6 - 8 months and would be ready to cull at between 18-20 weeks. Chicks are very hardy and if they have plenty of food and a good water source your loss should be minimal, the only thing you need to worry about is predators both in the air and on the ground. Hope that helps, thanks for watching.

Fresh air goes into the incubator through the space between the doors. The sterilizer light is not needed if you do a good clean of the incubator after hatch. The benefits of the sterilizer is to kill any bacteria that you might not have cleaned. Most incubators do not have this sterilizer light.

what should ...we do for Hatching. those egg do we need to maintain some certain temperature and humidity for hatching stage also..after incubating
@The10AcreWoods8 жыл бұрын
For hatching chickens you will want to setup your incubator to 100 degrees fahrenheit ( 37 degrees celsius). For the first 18 days your humidity should be around 50% and then increased to about 70% for the remaining days. On day 25 you will want to stop turning the eggs for the last 3 days. Once the chick has hatched, leave them in the incubator to dry off (at least 1 - 2 hours) and also to stimulate the other eggs to hatch, chicks can remain in the incubator up to 24 hours. Times and humidity change depending on the bird you are hatching, this information can be found on many websites. When you remove the chicks from the incubator place them in an area with a heat lamp to keep them warm. If you see the chicks in a group under the light you should lower it and if you see the no chicks under the light you need to raise it a bit. I hope this information helps.

My incubator maintain humidity 70% shall i reduce water level in channels or what to do ? 2. 2nd tray fan throwing air upside instead of downside, i m not sure about it but shall i change it direction? 3. where to keep chick while and after coming out fr. eggs because no space in incubator.
@The10AcreWoods7 жыл бұрын
Hello Zahid, If your incubator has water channels you should remove water from one of the channels and check your humidity again. Most incubators with channels have two or three, the more channels you have filled the higher the humidity. Remember it's surface area that controls humidity. Your fan direction inside the incubator should not matter, the fan moves the air making sure the temperature and humidity are the same throughout the incubator. The chicks should stay inside the incubator until they are dry, if this is not possible then you need to have a heat lamp set up in a small area and put a thermometer under to match the temperature of the incubator. You want to make sure you are using a red heat lamp, if you use a white light the chicks will not rest and will often peck at each other causing injuries. I hope that answers your questions and good luck with your chicks.

@The10AcreWoods7 жыл бұрын
Yes our incubator did come with the sterilizer light. You don't want to run the light while your eggs are in it as it can kill the beneficial bacteria that is on the outside of the eggs, only run the light in between hatches after you have cleaned the inside with a mild soap & water. You don't need the light if you do a good cleaning between hatched, it was just a bonus that came with this unit. Hope that answers your questions.

Tanvir Toukir currently around 70%. This was our first year with the incubator and would expect about 80% next year. 90% is really good and I would find it hard to believe someone could get that good of a hatch rate for an incubator. This incubator will keep the temperature and humidity at the setpoint you program. The hatch rate will depend on how it is operated.

Make sure the water is over the element. If the room temperature is warm then the exhaust fan maybe on too long. @@The10AcreWoods thank you thats exactly what I wanted to know. I'm looking to run it on solar power. I have 400ah of battery power. I can run a 250 watt heat light if conditions are perfect. with I supplement with a gas generator... knowing that its going to top out at 1000watts, I can look for a ups that can maintain the incubator, if I was to run out of power unknowingly. again thank you.

What purpose does the larger fan on the side panel serve? Should it be running at all times?
@The10AcreWoods6 жыл бұрын
Yes, the fan should remain on as it ensures that the temperature and humidity remain constant in all areas on the incubator.

Great video. We are thinking of getting one of these. Just wondering, Why don't you use the water from the de-humidifier for the water feed to the hatcher?
@The10AcreWoods4 жыл бұрын
The dehumidifier did not produce nearly enough water to keep the incubator full and we were also concerned about the dissolved metals from the condenser coils affecting the shells of the eggs.

Hi, this is a very informative video. I just finished my incubator with a different mechanism (rolling type). May I know how much is the cost of your incubator?
@The10AcreWoods8 жыл бұрын
This incubator is currently listed at $599.74 US funds. We live in Canada and had it shipped to the US border for pickup as they don't ship to Canada. With the exchange, shipping and brokerage fees it was just under $1000 CND funds. We had been looking for a cabinet style incubator and found others to be $1500 US and more, so it was an easy decision. Most other units out there do not have humidity controls like this unit and for us was a big selling feature. Thanks for watching and if you have any other questions please let me know and I will do my best to answer them.
@andrewdonaire8 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your reply. It seems to be a fair price with the number of eggs and the functions. One more question, in regards to humidty and temperature readings. What is the minimum and maximum values? How fast does it react to changes? And is the temperature and humidity controller a PID one?
@The10AcreWoods8 жыл бұрын
From what I know of the controller I don't think it is PID, you can adjust the parameters of the humidity and when the element will turn on and off. (I have made another video on the programing kzbin.info/www/bejne/gHy4lYCVZrGngtk ) The humidity increase reacts quite fast, I tested this by setting the humidity to 97% and it reached this setpoint within a few minutes from a starting point of around 55%. The window on the front started to fog up at this point. Going from 97% back down to 55% took longer as the exhaust fan on the back is only controlled by the heat in the Incubator and not the humidity. The lowest humidity level would rely on the humidity outside of the incubator, unless you're humidity is 55% at 100F then you should not have an issue.
@andrewdonaire8 жыл бұрын
May I know the min and max values of your temperature? When the unit is adjusting the humidity, how does it affect the temperature?
@The10AcreWoods8 жыл бұрын
The humidity has very little to no effect on the temperature as the temperature is controlled by both the heater and the exhaust fan. We have been running the temperature with a setpoint of 100 degrees F with a +/- variance of 1 degree F. We have been running the humidity at 55% & 60% depending on what eggs we are hatching. The following are the specifications from the manual, I have found them to be correct. Temperature: 0-99'C Measurement Accuracy: +/- 0.1'C Humidity: 0-99% Humidity Accuracy: +/- 3%

If need be, I can make another video showing my modifications.

Thank you so much for your video. I have a question. I want to start this. Can you explain to me if you filled the incubator with eggs in different days , I am confuse if you can continue filling your eggs and removed hatched one. Will that be a problem. How long you have to remove a hatched egg?. Also, if they don't hatched same time and your chicken give you eggs while the incubator start running. Should I just keep adding? Thank you so much for your clarification.
@The10AcreWoods6 жыл бұрын
Hi Faith, with chicken eggs we filled one rack a week and added it to the incubator each week, duck and goose eggs don't work as well because of the higher humidity needed. When the eggs were ready to hatch for the last 3 days we would put them on the bottom so they don't turn. You can leave the chicks in the incubator up to 24 hours and remove them when they are dry. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.

Good morning Sir, me from Pakistan. I want to know that which company's incubator is good for home usage?
@The10AcreWoods7 жыл бұрын
Hi Wajid, depending on the size of incubator you are looking for depends on the type. If you are just looking for a small incubator and are just starting out then this would be best. These units hold up to 48 eggs. If you are looking for something larger I would suggest this type that is sold under many different names and only if you are handy as this unit needs some modifications. If you are looking for a unit built well and you can start up right away then I would suggest a Sportsman or Brinsea. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.

@The10AcreWoods7 жыл бұрын
There are many different incubators and I would need to know the model to be able to help. Look for a switch to turn your rotation off, this may be a switch or it may be a setting if the unit is digital. If the unit has a motor that moves the trays you could always install a switch if there is not one installed. Hope that helps, good luck and thanks for watching.

@The10AcreWoods7 жыл бұрын
Hello tahir, I'm not sure when in the video you are referring to 4:50 when I speak of the duck and geese eggs. You should stop turning eggs 3 days prior to hatch, Chicken 19-21 days, Ducks 25-28 days and Muscovy Ducks 32-35 days. Hope this clarifies.

Hello is building an incubator like this I have a doubt this blue little wind blows straight towards the eggs? And the heat resistance stays behind or in the freight? And on that little little wind blows in or out?
@The10AcreWoods7 жыл бұрын
Hello Vida, The main blue fan blows air directly across the eggs keeping an even temperature. The heater is located behind the main fan. In the back of the cabinet is the exhaust fan that blows air out of the back of the incubator and pulls air in from between the two front doors. I hope this answers your questions, thanks for watching.

We don't hatch many goose eggs as our geese have been broody. We did however hatch a few goose eggs last year successfully with 60% humidity. As per the hatch rate spraying vs not, I don't have enough hatches to give a definitive answer. This is something we may have to try. Thanks for the question Tom.
