I used to dry my own egg whites all the time. I have recipes that use yolks only, so I would save the whites until I had enough to fill my dehydrator, whip them up, put it on the trays, and grind them to powder once dry. It was super easy. I need a new dehydrator now, and my oven is not super reliable, so it’s been awhile, but it’s totally doable if you have the equipment.

I'm thinking about trying to make my own powder with a freeze dryer when I get it next month. I hope it turns out good because it will be a huge savings!

I dry my own egg whites in a regular dehydrator. I don't whip them first (didn't think of that) and it works great in this bread.

Shawna Hess I tried doing it with liquid whites the first time. Whipping them doesn’t take long, and they dry out so much faster, and make a perfectly consistent, fine powder when I grind them. Definitely a better result in my experience. Also way less mess!

I could watch you make this bread every day 😂. My kitchen aid stand mixer arrives today. I bought a refurbished one from kitchen aid. Got the artesian 5 qt for $259 instead of $429. I’m so excited.

Black Friday deals too. I'm just so grateful I found her recipe before the stampede. I did some really deep "not need it or to need it?" So i got it. This year it wasn't bad.

Thanks for all the math work you did you worked hard on that. When I find something I'd like and is expensive I stop and ask myself if I want it, need it, is it better for me or do i deserve it. Absolutely I deserve it.

I’ve actually backed off on the amount of protein powder to 3/4 cup and my bread seems to come out softer. For convenience I use egg whites in the carton. ( Bob Evans) and I use confectioners swerve for my sweetener. Comes out no different. I also add nutritional yeast 2tsp. Gives it a nice flavor. Also you can just throw everything in the mixer, you don’t have to add the protein powder in separate...a lot easier.

I agree on the lesser amounts as well. My first loaf was short on egg white powder, (a happy mistake), it came out nice. My second was a bit "heavy". Going for number 3 next week....

@@KJB0001 NO! It’s really good, I had BLT’s for lunch on it today and last night I did sauce, mozzarella and pepperoni broiled in the oven. So yummy!

i used one cup of egg white powder and the bread was very sturdy...even styrofoam in texture. i've made the bread using only 1/4 cup of egg white powder and it came out much better.

Thanks, I’m going to try that. By the way, I tried it with some whey protein cuz’ egg white protein powder is even more ridiculous where I live in Canada. Mixed some whey with flax meal. I liked it fine. But I finally have some protein powder on the way.

Great info & tips. Also, I use my electric knife and get 18 slices out of a loaf. The bread holds up so well that I can get that many slices and they don’t even fall apart.

I stopped using the allulose after the first time I made the bread. I also cut the protein powder down to about 3/4 of a cup and I like the bread better. I buy the Now 5-lb bottle it cost $55. I separate my eggs. I can’t see spending the high cost of egg whites in a carton and I use the yolks another time. A loaf lasts me about 3 days even eating it several times a day, so overall the price per loaf is not bad at all.

Very informative! Have been wanting to figure out the costs, but was lazy…. I use the Now brand - found it at my Whole Foods. As far as cost - another way to think about it…. It is cheaper than any medical condition, diabetes, heart disease, any medication etc. this helps you be healthy - and get to eat a sandwich. I understand it still might be out of reach for some, but I think it is worth every penny. I can’t wait to try a thanksgiving “dressing” made with this and some sausage etc! Thanks again❤️💋

This was actually the protein powder I started with because I found it at Publix and did not want to buy a large amount and find out I did not like it. I appreciate you doing this video so I know that what I am using is comparable to the more expensive brands! I will be looking for the larger container next time!

The bread I buy at Aldi is $3.99. We (my mom and I) go through maybe 1 loaf a week (it's a small loaf). I don't consider it extravagant. We want bread once in a while and it means paying a little more to get a healthier bread. I am eating low carb. I think it's worth it. I have the Now brand that I use in various recipes. Your loaf looked good.

Lovingitonketo channel - Wendy has been making so many different delicious recipes & shapes with this bread concept. She has encouraged me to try it & by golly I'm now obsessed. Turning it into bread, rolls, muffins, foccacia style (best for sandwiches) - no batch ever is wrong - just toss is a non-stick baking vessel & awaaaay ya go! 🙏👍

PS - I love to make French toast with it for meal prep for workdays... so easy to re-warm, toaster or microwave & little SF syrup. Just use egg whites with some cinnamon & vanilla, if macros allow ya can toss a scoop of protein powder in too.

Another youtuber has a recipe for cinnamon bread, using 1/2 batch and only 1/4 cup of egg white protein powder - the texture was fluffy and good! Regarding price - when I think of how much money I spent on junk food and fast food, this is a justifiable cost for me I will be experimenting with the amount of allulose. I’ve made it both ways and both are fine.

@st93 it doesn’t really have much of a taste, honestly. which to me is good, because other keto breads i’ve made are very eggy or have off textures. the texture of this bread is what sells it, it seriously is just like a slightly chewier wonderbread 🤷‍♀️

This is great! I'm learning so much from you. I'm so glad I found your channel. Anything you make with egg white bread, I will watch. My calories are really tight and I've been losing weight. My problem has been finding low calorie bread. You've solved my problem. Not only is this low calorie, but filled with protein, which is what I need! This is a godsend! I ordered my mixer last night. Thanks for the info! I had been considering the NOW brand, so I will definitely try it! Suggestion: if you make a cut in the center of the dough before baking, it will rise more evenly on each side instead of mostly on one side. ❤💙💜

I haven't tried it and can't speak to it (yet), but I saw a video recently where a guy claimed you could poke a few wooden skewers straight down thru the top, and leave them there during cooking, it would prevent or minimize how much distortion happened to each loaf.

Comparing this bread to a bread made from almond flour, this is a good price, especially since it does not need xanthan gum and other rarely used expensive ingredients. The quantity of the flour replacing ingredients is also lower compared to the quantity of almond flour, for example, so this is also a money saver. Great video. Thank you.

I was just thinking most gluten free and/or keto ingredients command a higher price. I got sticker shock when I saw the price difference between skim milk powder vs whole milk powder. We need to compare like to like. What is the cost of wheat to eggs? I have no idea, but I'm sure wheat is much cheaper since chickens are fee the wheat to produce the eggs. Egg white powder didn't sound like the chickens were pastured ...

@@janet82toes76 Exactly, and in fact, that is my experience for my comments above since I have to be gluten free. Gluten free bread in the store is normally at least $6-$7.00 for a full loaf. Initially, it costs significantly more than that up front to make it yourself.

I finally found egg white powder, same brand as yours. The health food store had one! I'm not a fan of Amazon in particular or online shopping in general. The clerk said someone, I wasn't clear who, was usurping a lot of it.

I used the isopure zero carb unflavored protein powder and it worked good in my wonder bread. Have to look to see how that compares in cost wise as it was a lot cheaper in the small quantities and I use the protein powder in a lot of other things from ice cream to baked goods. I use some of the now brand supplements (Prebiotic) and very happy with them

Our household is down to two people so I use my large Breville toaster oven at least 95% of the time for baking and roasting. It is large enough to bake in a 9 X13 pan.

Your advice is way better than Maria’s. I already don’t put sweetener and I saw a recipe with whey powder instead of egg powder and also some flax meal and I liked the flavour but the texture is so dry.

I don't remember who it was but another KZbinr made this bread by just adding ALL the ingredients in the blender at once and it seemed to work just fine. I made mine for the first time yesterday doing it like your video but I think I'll eventually try it the other way just to see how that works, too!

So happy to see you do this in your countertop oven. I got an air fryer that is that similar design, and was wondering if could do a batch in that instead of heating my whole house with the oven. I saw that egg powder at Whole Foods, was concerned because it has higher carbs, I think I remember. Was trying to see on your screen shot. So, would definitely use on my non-PSMF days. Good to see as an option when not able to wait for order online. 🤘🙏👍

Great video! I’m so glad you made a loaf with Now powder! Bcuz I just bought the Now bcuz it’s so much cheaper than the other brands on Amazon and one reviewer said that it works well with Maria Emmerich’s bread, but every video on KZbin I see of making the bread is with the crazy expensive powder, so I didn’t know whether the Now powder would be disastrous or not. So that reviewer was right! Thank you! Geez…. I can do this without breaking the bank!

Your KZbin channel is really helpful when I go to the store I save a lot of money and I recently ordered the Now egg white protein powder also the website I went to saved me 20% off for being a first time shopper so I got me 2-5 pound containers and even though the price might be a little costly I feel that this protein powder is really good and will help me out in the long run when it comes to dieting and & lowering my carbs.

Interesting, this Now Brand is the only brand egg white powder I could get in Canada, but I haven't been having good results. Now I know it's not the egg white powder. It's either my mixer isn't fast enough, my kitchen is too humid, or the carton egg whites I bought are too running and I should use 100% fresh cracked eggs.

I have used both judees and the NOW brand. I’m in michigan right now and can get eggs for $.50 or less a dozen. Texas (deep south Texas, 😂 ) they are a bit over a dollar 🤷🏻‍♀️.

I use Egg White Protein from Bulk Supplements. If you buy the 2.2 Lb bag, the price goes down from $1.13 an ounce to $0.71 an ounce. If you buy the 5 kg bag (11 Lbs) goes down to $0.50 an ounce. Maybe these prices are too much for people who can eat wheat flower, but for people who are sick, this affords them the chance to eat a sandwich again.

I store in an airtight container in the fridge. I think I've kept it for up to a week and it was fine. It also freezes well!

You can just skip the allulose. The crust won't brown as fast but it'll still taste good!

Since you brought up the fact that you save and use the egg yokes elsewhere I would cut the cost of eggs in half for your figuring and BTW so what a homemade loaf of bread costs 4$

Walmart has Now Sport Egg White online. It was the cheapest "egg white only" brand I found.

So my bread was good the first day, ok the next day. But now it’s not as good should I slice it all up after I make it and put it in the freezer? It’s only me eating it.

I saw a egg white bread recipie that used regular whey protein powder. I don't know if this would work well or if whey protein is an option for you and others. I am waiting to use up all my egg white powder first but it is pretty pricey

I also had purchased the NOW brand of egg whites powder to try out. I found my loaf was rising "quite a lot" more then when I use the Jay Robb brand, or the Just Egg Whites brand of powders, BUT, my loaf sank while cooling in the oven just as the other's have done. What I'm wondering is, did the smell/odor of the NOW brand really seem over powering when opening your container? That's the one thing I don't care for with this brand, it really has an off smell to it. I know it didn't affect the bread taste, but, still bothered me as the other's I've used do not have any smell to them at all.

I did notice that it had a stronger smell than the judees and it was a bit more yellow. It didn't affect the flavor so it didn't bother me.

Hi questions the egg white in Canada AKA " GREAT WHITE NORTH" the is a company that sells Egg whites powder called Canadian Protein 1lb is $35 if you order $100 shipping is free another ? Bob Red Mills have a whole egg relaxer would this work ???

I agree with you, I find this bread is incredibly filling. Also, Personally, I’m happy to pay much more for good quality free range pastured eggs as the yolks will have as much as 5-10 times the nutrients of caged eggs. In fact caged eggs will have absolutely ZERO vitamin K2. In my opinion they are a complete waste of money even though they are cheap. Same with any wheat bread. I used to be able to eat 4 to 6 sandwiches with wheat bread, whereas two with this bread and I’m done! I like your line of thinking re protein and I extend it to nutrients as well.

I just realized something, EGG BREAD could be used on the keto carnivor diet, and is likely the only bread that could be use, that I know of.

How long does the bread last and how do you store it? I don't have a stand mixer. Do you think a hand mixer would get similar results.

A hand mixer will work fine. 👍🏼 Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week ☺️
