Great overall showing of your 90 hp motor. I like how you have built options into your install ( motor mount heights and cab heat ) package. To me this Viking Motor package is ready to install and guess work needed.

Here in the UK virtually every engine fitted to a experimental aircraft is a Rotax 912 or a two stroke. I dont know the price of the Viking unit but I imagine it to be quite cheaper to the Rotax 912 and with the bonus of having fuel injection as well. Viking I think your missing out on a big market here in the UK, may be not having a dealer here to answer questions or to showcase the engine. Maybe the BMAA or the LAA.

I'm still working through the video, but being impatient, let me ask a question. How bad is the vibration level of this three banger, both on the prop and on the body of the aircraft?

It is actually much smoother than initially thought (being a 3 cylinder) slightly more vibration than the Honda, all smoother than traditional engines by far. IT becomes noticeable only in a smaller aluminum aircraft like the Zenith 701, but a Kitfox with steel tubing, don't notice it at all.

The 180 is only 180 at max rpm for a STOL type of plane. We have started to market it as a 170 hp engine at the RPM more normally used. It would be too small for the RV-10

What does this engine weigh compared to the Viking 130? Also, did this engine come directly from manufacturer (crate engine)?

It weighs the same as a Rotax 912, power between the 80-100. They are all from cars with little to some miles depending. Same as our other models.

Mitsubishi claims 79 BHP at 6000 rpm for this engine. 90 HP might be a little optimistic. Rotax claims 100 HP at 5800 rpm from its 1.3 liter 912ULS. Without seeing a dyno of either of these engines these are probably all "hopeful" claims. Maybe at sea level on a cold Alaska morning with a dense air charge and a benevolent deity smiling down on the test. Maybe.

We do dyno work on every engine and change some variables on the engine as well. This engine has been around for over 5 years and makes the 90 Hp as advertised

Bet you are fun at parties. The loom on this engine doesn’t happen until we are done. All get loomed with high temp loom and all the harnesses are done professionally with the correct sensors and tefcell wire. Hope you have a better day.
