And I remember like yesterday, she always gave me 30 pcs or more fruit, she always said that it good for the eyes, back then I don't really cherish, or like the fruit, but now I've grown. Everytime I've seen this fruit here in KZbin, I just wanna go back in time. To see my great grandma chat with her, and tell her that this fruit, was really good. And expensive where I live now. It's 100 dollars more in Miami fruit if you order. Sometimes we get advantage of the food and stuffs we have, till you know you can't get them easily abroad. And it's a childhood memory for me. Thanks for my great grandma giving me this fruit all The time when she still alive. And always reminding me to take care of my self. 😭

we call it "chesa" or "tiesa" in philippines... some people doesnt like the taste at all, maybe because of it's unusual texture for a fruit, very different from all other fruits... :) love love love :)

AT LAST! i found it!...While travelling in my youth, 35 years ago i ate these in Sri Lanka where it was called a "cheese apple". For years I've searched but have never been able to find it elsewhere or known the species name. Thank you Emmy for solving that mystery for me. By the way, these are great with a dash of lime juice. For all those who love unusual and delicious tropical fruit, Sri Lanka is the place to go. Even better than Malaysia, which is also awesome.

I have a tree in my house (I live in Dominican Republic, here it is also called Mamey and canistel of course) most people don’t eat it as it is but instead we make a beverage with milk, some sugar, ice, vanilla extract and grounded cinnamon or nutmeg and let me tell this “batido” as we call it here taste so delicious.

I bought these along with longan fruit from a farmers market in Kona Hawaii, I loved them so much, I ate them for breakfast every day!🥰
