For the egg timer you have to crank it all the way around then turn it back to the time you desire. You will then get a nice longer bell ringing. All hand crank timers are like this. Hope this helps for future timings 😃

My grandma is in her 80's and got a set, she loves them. She stopped making boiled eggs about 5 years ago because she can't peel the shells off anymore, destroying half the eggs trying to get them off, but with these she's finally able to make them again. I use them for scrambled eggs personally when I go over to help take care of my grandpa, and I like them almost as much as she does. Personally, the only complain that I had, and she had it as well, is that you only get enough for half a dozen, which kinda sucks whenever you like to make eggs by the dozens.

You deserve massive credit for your thoroughness and for not giving up! I lost the will to live about a third of the way through! Boiled eggs: take eggs. Put in pan of cold water. Bring to boil. Boil for 3 mins for soft/4 mins for medium/5 -6 mins for hard. Run cold water over eggs. Roll eggs over hard surface pressing to crack the shell all over. Peel. Think I'll stick to this method 😄

I have that same egg-shaped timer. You have to "wind" it all the way up by taking it to the full 60 minutes, then crank BACK to the desired time. If you don't do that, you get what you got. Because "winding" for just the 3 or 5 minute range is not enough to get it to ring.

With those egg timers, you are supposed to give them a good turn, to winde them up, and then go to the time you want. Without winding them correctly the timer ticks slower and rings like a depressed clock. Wind them up, give them a full turn and then go to your 2-3 minutes. With a full turn, the timer runs correctly, with the right power and also rings much louder.

Not sure if anyone already said, but the red timer is old school type non electronic. You have to wind it past the point needed then back to set whatever time you need. So if you need 2min, you twist it to 60min, and then return it to 2min, so it will have power to ring and be more accurate.

My wife purchased from an ad on fb. She paid $31 for 6. They did not come with the cool little egg holder that you had, nor did they come with a timer. She could have purchased only 3 but that would have cost her $15. OH....and it did not come with instructions whatsoever. They did not pop like the advertisement. She had to scrap them out with a knife and there was residue. Now, she watched your review after trying to make them. She agrees that you must spray the poo out of the silicon to get them to slide out. She doesn't have to crack, roll and peel any more. She gives them a 4 rating only because she had no instruction or the extras that yours came with. Plus she paid way more then you did for what you received. Thank you for the review. Great review, as always! A friend and I tried Eggies a few years ago and had a blast..never laughed so hard in our lives! Eggies had teeny thin 'gaskets' which had to be oiled separately and kept getting lost on our counter because they were almost transparent. (We lost two of the gaskets forever when we were cleaning up.) No matter how well we oiled or sprayed the insides, egg stuck to the plastic. In a side by side, Eggies vs boiling eggs the old fashion way, we had cleaned up and were eating deviled eggs just as the Eggies were finished cooking. When faced with cleaning out those Eggies again and losing more gaskets, we decided to throw the Eggies in the trash. LOL People have dealt with imperfect hard boiled eggs since forever and lived through it. There are tips and tricks on the internet for getting them out of the shell. Time spent looking for and trying those tips is faster and easier than using the Eggie. I don't see that the Eglette is better. Why spend more time preparing and cleaning an extra kitchen gadget? Gadgets should make life easier!!!!!!

I just don't understand why you can't just poach eggs the regular way if the water is already going to be boiling, or why you can't just crack the eggs into a muffin tin and bake them! With the water in the bottom of the cup it comes up around the eggs when you drop them in. Mine came without lids so I was looking at these. With the lid it seemed to me that you would get an effect similar to a coddled egg. Thanks for all the info you present in your easy to follow vid.

The best thing about them is not having to removing all the bits and pieces of the shell after the eggs are cooked. I spray them as suggested with about three sprays per egg. I noticed that when you were cleaning them that you left the silicone cup in the red plastic ring. I don't have the holder, I just suspend my Egglettes in the water using some bamboo chopsticks. Thanks again for your, always enjoyable, review! I haven't (and won't) try the Egglettes. But I DID try the Eggies. Dismal failure. They were too limited in the size egg that they would hold, tended to overflow, and were basically a pain to clean up. Much easier in both method and cleanup to just boil the eggs the way I always have, in the shell, without worrying about how large an egg I need to use, peel UNDER running water (right under the faucet nozzle), and make lovely deviled eggs. I can kind of see a use for something like this if you are planning to serve the egg in the cooking container, but otherwise it just seems to be adding unnecessary complication and effort to an otherwise fairly simple process.

I just bought the egglets from Walmart. There were four in a pack and they did not come with a timer or the holder. I washed them thoroughly and used them this morning. The problem I ran into was they started to tilt without having a holder when in the pot after several minutes. I ended up putting a butter knife through two of the little handles and draping it across the edges of the pot so that they wouldn't turn over. This works efficiently tho a bit of a hassle. I used olive oil in mine and spread it around generously with my finger but I wasn't able to just pop them out. I found if I inserted a spoon just into the tip it broke the seal and then they would pop out. I didn't need to go all the way around with the spoon. I started out with cooked sausage and egg and cheese and did them for 13 minutes. They didn't quite get done as much as I wanted so the upper end of the hard boiled egg time is better for eggs that have other ingredients I found for my taste. They got thoroughly done that way and they tasted great. Other than tipping over in the water while boiling they worked exactly as I expected and I had no residue issues after they were popped out. But thanks for your video, it was great. I didn't even know they came with a little holder but I would say for me that would be worth the extra cost. I used my microwave timer. I wish it came with a smaller holder because that looks like it will only fit in a big pot and if you only want to do a couple you have to boil a lot of water for that so that seems a bit wasteful. But thanks again for your video. It was very detailed. I'm going to try hard boiled eggs for deviled eggs next time and see how that comes out. I have to agree with you about the funky way they cut them. But they look a little open-ended if you cut them the Long Way unlike if you boil them in the shell. That's going to be interesting.

Thanks for the review!! I've been thinking about getting these for my mom, but didn't know if they were a good investment. The only thing I am going to suggest is to use Pam (as another reviewer did) or melted butter spread on the inside of the cups for easier removal.

Tell that to my 80 year old grandmother who's able to boil and eat her own hard boiled eggs for the first time in 5 years.

JakeSnake07 lmao, I dont see whats so hard about boiling eggs... Peeling the skin? U just smash it against a hard surface and it it basically comes off by itself... If anything this device is a lot harder to use... U have to wash it, etc...

Love Your show. You have been the ultimate deal maker/breaker for many as seen on TV buys I commit to. Just a pointer. Any thing that winds up to time, always turn past 20 min and bring back to the time you want me 2-3 min or so. This will allow the mechanism to get enough kenetic energy make it back to zero, as well as winds up the mechanism that causes the bell to ring. I have this kind of timer on many appliances, but have also used many a cheapo wind-up egg timer. It's something you just learn... With time lol.

I know I'm several months behind and this has nothing to do with the product. But when I make deviled eggs, I spoon the yolk mixture into a sandwich baggy and use the baggy like a frosting bag by cutting one of the corners off. You get the perfect amount into each egg and it looks good too. Just a tip for anyone who happens to see this comment. I like your videos. keep it up

Great video, my question is how to clean the whites off the silicone, i did not see your video until after my first use. And the timing was way off. Stuck on residue. Please help.

I wonder if you can use the cook for few minutes shut off and cover and leave in water for half hour, look that up, I can't remember exact times, but that also makes hard boiled without overcooking which causes a gray outer ring on yolks. And if you are prone to forgetting stuff, works best.

For deviled eggs could you cook the eggs and yolks separately? I know there wouldn't be a yolk space but I think it might still work? Going to have to get these and try it out.

Been thinking about getting these... after 30 minutes of trying to peel boiled eggs for a recipe! Still on the fence... but maybe if it was on sale... Thanks for the great review and tips and tricks.

Great vid. The problem you are having with the cheap timer is easy to fix. It is a spring driven timer so on short times wind the timer well past the half way point and then spin it back to the lower minutes. The spring must have adequate wind.

I purchased these recently but hadn't used them yet so this is super helpful. going to do a ramen tonight with a nice 10 minute semi-runny egg. this product is for me, I've tried every hack and simply cannot peel a shell cleanly! I am excited to try to add different omelette elements to a hard boiled egg, thinking some cooked bacon chunks, cheese and chives! definitely makes for an ugly deviled egg, maybe wouldn't serve them to company but for a midnight snack I'm all about it! great vid, thank you! honestly I saw the preview and thought "16 MINUTES?" then I sat rapt through the whole thing.

I recently bought the 4 pk of egglettes. I had same issue with oil the first time, sticking, residue, egg white being kind of broken up....just made some more and we'll see how those come out. Thanks for the video - helpful information :) Positives I can say about the eggs? I like how they come out with oil...adds a new element to the boiled egg. I liked not having to crack and peel the egg - that's always a pain - especially when the shell sticks. I guess if you're looking for hard boiled eggs and not too picky - these are a good investment. I appreciate the product. :)

So glad you made this video, I just bought these guys and my first batch stuck terribly. I'll try the nitro-blast of Pam next time! I have to say they cleaned up pretty well in the top rack of the dishwasher.

What about the size of egg? Or letting them cool completely (refrigerate them)? I live in the green valley area, hope I run in to you some time. 👍

Try using a bottle/jar brush. They work great for getting the residue out.
