Gotta say, I appreciate your dedication to science. After the first failed attempt I would've chucked it across the room of my own accord
@rockyraab82907 жыл бұрын
If my science training hasn't failed me, the way this is supposed to work is this: By rapidly compressing the top piece, high-pressure air enters the pierced small end of the egg, inflating the shell until it cracks, and then pushing the boiled egg out through the large opening in the bottom piece. The large end of the shell resting in the "exit hole" can't expand, and therefore doesn't get loosened. That's why it stay attached. As the French say, "Walla Walla Washington!"
@emmymade7 жыл бұрын
+Rocky Raab Thanks! Sounds reasonable...
@lazerx18287 жыл бұрын
Makes sense, but I was wondering if those "couple" of taps on the large end covered a larger area (like making a larger circle of crunch), which would then be the part that was resting on the bottom of the opening. That might make it easier to plunge through, and may also come off the egg easier afterwards.
@LordDragox4127 жыл бұрын
I do the trick in my hands, poke a small hole on top, crack the bottom, blow in small hole while holding the egg and having the other hand below to catch the egg flying out and you're done. No fancy gadgets needed :P
@joealtmaier92717 жыл бұрын
It might work better if everything was wet - the egg, the rim of the plunger thingy - to contain the air pressure?

Try this. I saw Tammy on Collard Valley Cooks do this and I tried it and was BLOWN AWAY!!! Bring water to a boil first, then gently spoon in cold eggs right from the refrigerator. Bring back to boil and set timer for 12 minutes. Take from heat and run cold water from the tap into the pan until the water is cooled. Gently crack the shells all over and start peeling. The shells practically fall off the eggs with very little effort. AMAZING! Try it!

A couple helpful tips I've tested to have perfect boiled eggs are to use older eggs, and to add 2 tsps of vinegar to the boiling water. (2-3 week old eggs at the least, they can last up to about 5 weeks in the fridge) older eggs will give off their shells much easier than a fresh egg, and there is no taste difference. The vinegar, when added to the water, will weaken the bond with the egg, this makes it so that it peels off much easier with less chance of splitting or damaging the egg white. You also will not be able to taste the vinegar because only the shell soaks it up.

When I boil eggs for peeling ie egg salad sandwiches for potatoe salads, I boil them for the hard boiled timing then I have them run under cold water and place them in loads of ice cold water. But before placing the eggs in the cooling water, i take a spoon and smack the egg shell to make an indentation in the shell. I found that making this indentation allows some moisture to egress into the egg shell and around the egg meat to separate those two for easier peeling. I roll the cooled egg on the counter to crack the whole shell and it peels off into three shell pieces. Totally peeled in no time, beats that egg extractor only big chefs can use. Hopes this helps improves your egg peeling challenges.. By the way, your first push had me rolling on the floor in stitches, good presentation young lady

After seeing your Instagram stories about it, I thought that it was going to work much better.
