My mom has arthritis in her hands and she would love these! Fiddling with boiled eggs not only takes her 5+ minutes to deshell, but also causes lots of pain. Tbh, all of these “weird” gadgets are super helpful for those who are disabled

Look at the "eggxactpeel eggshell peeler" on amazon. I purchased one for a friend that has severe arthritis and she says it helps. Then again, you could show your mom the old table roll/then dishtowel method of removing the eggshell. Roll the egg on the table to heavily crack it like Emmy did and then scrub at it while it's wrapped in a dishtowel.

@@Gingergent07 I already have gadgets because of arthritis to help with opening/closing tops/lids (all different sizes) so the only thing on your list that wouldn't be covered would be the cracking of the egg. That I can do much easier on a non-hard boiled egg than having to crack afterwards and picking the shell off. Also, depending on the size if it's a bigger item as compared to a smaller one then I can handle it with my bare hands instead of needing a gadget to open/close things. So in reality, her mom might be perfectly fine with these things even with the opening/closing of the tubs and cracking of the egg depending on her circumstance and limitations.

Hello Emmy, In defence of the little Egglette (LOL) , I purchased the Egglettes about 2 months ago, I love them. I only. Spray a tiny bit of cooking spray in the bottom and wipe it well around with my finger. Then I put in the egg, we have not tried adding anything or stirring the egg, tighten the top, put in boiling water and We Put a Lid On. Then turn the heat to med so it continues to boil and set the timer for 10 minutes. I take them out and open them carefully because they are hot. I get a perfect medium soft boiled egg, every time. An extra 2 minutes makes it hard boiled. And our eggs look pretty good no dimples on the bottom. Washing is a breeze, no residue in the egglette.

I wish people would remember things like this can help people with disabilities. This particular item is kind of flawed, but having a contraption that I can crack an egg into so I don’t need to peel the egg would be nice. I’ve got a lot of pain in my hands and wrists, and they sometimes seize. If this was a bit of a better product and I could get more then four of them, I would definitely like to use it for boiling eggs.

Emmy have you tried an electric egg cooker. It is my most favorite small appliance. It cooks quickly and only uses about a tablespoon of water. I have never had a problem peeling them (regardless of how fresh they are) with just running them under a little cool tap water so they are easier to handle. It has two additional trays to make omlete or poached. I really love it. It cooks 6 eggs at a time. I think the brand is Presto. I highly recommend

I don’t think you mentioned it but if you use the cooking spray “Pam” they come out like a breeze. I’ve done many trial and errors and that was the best method for me. Also some food for thought is 1) it helps for some people who have motor control issues and physically can’t peel eggs and 2) for people like myself who can’t peel eggs for my life. Also like Emmy did, you need to make sure to dip the eggies in water or else they won’t pop out smooth either. Truly this is my favorite kitchen gadget and I wouldn’t base your opinion on one video alone.

I coated egglet inside with. tablespoon of melted butter made with canola oil. Boiled egglet and the egg easily popped out, while leaving zero egg inside. Clean up is fill egglet with soapy water, put in same pot cooked in and also filled with soapy water. Boil pot and egglet, rinse out egglets and pot with clean water. Same as cleaning a pot after making hard boiled egg in the shell. After egglet cooks, there may or may not be a little water in the egglet, but you start with a clean pot, and you don't have any egg factory dirt on a shell, so the remaining bit of water isn't really unclean after boiling, it's similar to making soup in the pot. Never tried an omelet. Note: Tightening egglet lid will help keep water out. And when shaking egglet to coat inside with butter, cover tiny vent hole in lid with finger to keep butter from coming out. I think using egglets and boiling eggs in the shell are of equal work/cleanup. I do both. But eggletts do eliminate peeling the shell, the ice water, but don't compare to the portability and convenience of say, taking hard boiled eggs in the shell on a thousand mile cross country bicycle trip. And for people that physically have trouble peeling an egg shell, I highly recommend them.

My egg cooking technique is faster than yours tbh. I just put the eggs in the cold water, bring the water to a boil and then almost immediately lower the temperature a bit so its not a rolling boil anymore and leave them for a few minutes (6 for medium-hard eggs). This thing seems to be made with people with mobile problems in mind- sure, you still have to crack an egg but cracking a raw egg is actually easier than peeling it if you have problems with mobility.

Same here, tap the eggs with a spoon or something once it hits a boil before turning it down so they crack a little. You poke a tiny needle size hole in one end of the egg, stand them up on the little stand over a bit of water, put a cover on and press a button. Then you just wait for the beep and it gives you perfectly steamed hardboiled eggs! They peel perfectly, too!

@@QuiznosBear It's called the Dash Rapid Egg Cooker. There's even a little handle on the tray for the eggs that you can use to lift them all up from the cooker and dunk them into a bowl of icewater! I will say though, the beep to let you know its done is OBNOXIOUS. It's a very loud tone and it doesn't stop till you press the button. Scared the daylights out of me the first time I used it- and definitely not early-morning friendly if anyone else in the house is asleep!

I figured out, through trial and error and have been making sunny side up eggs in the nukrawave since forever. The trick is in the preparation and how you cook it. So to make 1 or 2 sunny side up eggs in the microwave, melt a teaspoon of butter in a mug and swir melted butter from the bottom of the mug to up the sides as high as possible without spilling it out of the mug. Then drop your 1 or 2 raw eggs into the buttered mug, add a little salt and pepper to taste and cover with a paper towel that will wrap itself around the bottom at least on 2 of the 4 corners (or if paper towel is not wide enough, secure over mug with a rubber band... *NEVER USE FOIL IN LARGE QUANTITIES IN ANY MICROWAVE UNLESS MANUFACTURER CLAIMS THIS IS SAFE TO DO OR NECESSARY TO COOK CERTAIN MEATS, ETC.*) Then cook on medium power (for a 1200 to 1250 watt microwave) for at least 1 minute and possibly 2, depending on the power of your machine. While this is happening, toast 1 or 2 pcs of bread, and butter (or spread mayo onto the toast if making an egg sammich,) use wrapped, processed singles cheese if you want, (you will hear an initial "pop" from the oven while cooking and stop microwave after SECOND "pop" is heard while cooking... ((A 3rd "pop" could mean its exploded and you'll have a mess in the oven to clean up))) After second "pop," using the mug's handle, remove egg mug from oven and take off napkin to insure egg(s) cooked all the way through, then pour egg(s) from mug onto prepared toast for a sammich or on plate to have with a piece or 2 of toast. Seems complicated, but once you get the hang of it, you can make these, including prep time for bread and cheese as a sammich in about a total of 5 minutes. It's delicious 😋

As someone with arthritis, I feel like having to stick my hand into the cavity to clean it defeats the purpose of boiling it without a shell. If you crack the eggs just a bit before putting them into cold water, it helps them to shrink back down inside of the shell, so it's easier to peel.

I assumed you were supposed to leave them in the shell since you said you wanted to see which one of them peeled easier. Another way to make them super easy to peel is to put a tiny bit of vinegar into the water or make a little pin prick in the end with the air pocket. Doesn't change the taste at all. I also crack it the same way you are rolling it but with the back of a tablespoon. Then you can just use the spoon to take off the shell all in one piece since the eggs have the same curve. Muffin tins will do the same thing as the egglets

For me, the reason I would have a hard boiled egg (or poached) would be to avoid added oil or butter. Plus, clean up is also a negative. I think they would be useful to people who have to buy the egg substitute/no cholesterol eggs that come in a milk carton instead of a shell. Otherwise, I think they are a waste of money.

I know this is an older video and I'm just catching but....it's just plastic egg coddler. I have a couple old school ceramic & metal ones that my grandmother brought back from England after the war... They don't really save much time from omelettes or scrambled in a pan, but it is a gentle cooking method and the texture is slightly different - since they are heavier, you don;t have to worry about them tipping over and taking in water (I've never tried hard boiled because I don't eat eggs that way)

The only reason I can think of for these egg gadgets are for people who want, like, just hardboiled egg white (because they are monsters who don't know the yolk is the tasty bit). Or for people who dont have the fine motor skills to peel a hardboiled egg. But even then, it seems like a shell removal device makes far more sense than a boil-not-in-the-shell device. Plus, anyone with dexterity problems is going to have a heck of a time eating that sucker, bc it sure isn't going to fit in any sort of egg cup, but it's also going to slip and slide around whatever plate you put it on thanks to the oil...
