Hi great review is there a reason why you didn’t buy Stihl mower if you’ve already have batteries ?
@MrGardener184 жыл бұрын
@@mikeedwards8694 we did consider the Stihl mowers but When I look into them the ego seem the better package, price,range and you can fit a mulch plug and roller. We wanted a mower that could do it all and ego fitted the Bill.
@user-oq5oc9hg3x4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I’d try to sell it and go with a Stihl, I haven’t had to many problems other then the wheel locking and it’s just started to leave wheel lines in the lawn. I picked up a EGO high lift blade, modified it to fit the stihl and it’s a lot better.
@MrGardener184 жыл бұрын
@@user-oq5oc9hg3x would definitely consider replacing it for a stihl but only if stihl release a new professional mower that a decent size and prices, for now, I still think the ego is a better more versatile option.

I have the 42cm/17-inch version of this mower. I need the self-propulsion as I have degenerative back and knee conditions which make use of a push mower more trouble than it's worth. I'm very impressed with every aspect of the machine.

Back wheels locking up is feature and is not random. You lift the front and the back wheels lock so it won’t roll away when you let go - useful when parked on a hill. Just push forward to release the parking brake.

Thank you MrGardner …an impressive, logical video from someone who has clearly thought about the operational issues for the Ego lawn mower. I am awaiting delivery of this very machine but hadn’t realised that the price of £ 570 did not include full options …I would ideally like a mulching kit and real roller too so will have to bite the bullet on extra costs . That said , I am in the category you mention of having a medium to large lawn on a slight slope so the SP element will definitely help . I also will have the 5 ah size battery with fast charger so hoping that it does the job …I am encouraged by your review .thank you .

Fantastic and honest review , they are obviously not ready for a commercial round but it's great to see the progress . You are the second reviewer who had problems with batteries too which is worrying.
@MrGardener184 жыл бұрын
With the strides battery technology and machine are make it won't be long before they are ready for commercial uses which a exciting thought. If this machine is anything to go by the next gen should be awesome.

Good review Matt, as you say the ego batteries are weighty beasts. I think you should take that 7.5ah battery back to the dealer as it under performs.

Again, a really good review. What's your go-to line trimmer for cutting edges on the lawns you mow?

If im not usesing an old school manual edger. I uses my kma130r battery kombie engine. it dosent have great run time as a strimmer but its so light and quite i chose it over my km94 everytime.

My brand new mower , blades not turning on after a quick run. Then I adjusted the height a bit higher, then it was working. Then again the next day, blades not turning on. I don't know why. In UK, it looks like there is no contact number. So should speak to the online dealer as it is still under 30 days return. It is very unfortunate, but I was happy with the mower when it was running , it was so quick and it took 20 minutes to clear up a large garden. I don't understand , why it is stuck.
@MrGardener182 жыл бұрын
The first place I would ask at is there website where under the product they have a comment section which they respond to enquire very quickly. As for it stopping randomly it could be a fault definitely but there are a number of safety features on these mower which stop it running IE if the safety plug is not in propely or the handle aren't fully extended.

Hi very insightful video 👍👍. Do you still use this as your daily mower for your business? If yes how is it holding up. Looking to get one because they are so much light hayter pro, especially as a one man band.

Hi mate, great review. Was very helpful. Just a quick question about the roller. If it's fitted to the mower, can it still fold up and stand upright or would you have to take the roller off every time? Thank you.
@MrGardener183 жыл бұрын
you should be fine to flip the mower even if the roller attched, though it will make it more difficult to manoeuver in that position.

I also have a 7.5AH battery that does the same thing as yours. Charges part way & stops, sometimes the lights go red. Did you get in touch with Ego, if so, what was the outcome? I've got the Ego Lm2135E-sp, great mower, love using it. I've also got a hedge trimmer, pole hedge trimmer, strimmer and back pack blower from Ego. Decided the back pack blower wasn't powerful enough for autumn work so I've purchased the makita that you've also reviewed. Concerned about what appears to be a carburetor issue with these. You would hope after being out for some time now that this issue would have been addressed.

I contacted ego by email (there is a contact email address on there website for battery warranty enquire) and they got back to me super quickly and replaced the battery no questioned asked. if not pop in to your local dealer and they will be happy to help.

Great review. I was wondering if there is a big difference in loudness vs a petrol lawnmower?
@stevestrider3622 жыл бұрын
Me too, I was wondering why you wore ear protection.
@MrGardener182 жыл бұрын
It's still quite loud no where as loud a petrol machine though. The biggest difference is how the noise travels. with this machine nextdoor will hardly hear it where as a petrol machine the whole street will know it lawn mowing day.
@MrGardener182 жыл бұрын
@@stevestrider362 for me it make no sense not to wear ear defenders even it far quieter than a petrol machine. Personal speaking I'd like to be able to hear in my old age and not have constant ringing noise in my ears.

Regarding the battery sizes if you wanted to you something big with a hedge trimmer you could just get the backpack link... I think Ego has far better battery technology than Stihl. Especially with the layout of the cells etc.

I have searched everywhere, without luck... how is the Ego model numbers defined? I.e. is a LM1903E-SP better than a LM2020E?
@MrGardener183 жыл бұрын
The lm1903e-sp is still listed on egos UK website ( different model in US) as for the lm2020e ironically I can't find it. I find the numbering not clear either. The best thing to do look at ego website where they list all the current model usually in size order. the lm1903e is 47cm cut
@MrGardener183 жыл бұрын
The first number is 17 refers to the size of cut 17in. The rest I'm not sure .

Would you say it’s better than the Husqvarna 347ivx which is 36volts .
@MrGardener183 жыл бұрын
I can't really comment on the Husqvarna as I haven't used it. but it seems to me to be a good machine and the fact it is only 36v doesn't bother me as I've used Stihl 36v mower and they've seemed plentiful powerful enough. the only thing I would say against the Husqvarna is it based on the petrol machine, not a bad thing but it does mean it doesn't make the most of the advantages of battery technology ie foldability.

Hi mate. Thanks for your video. Is this machine enough for a 700 square meter lawn?
@MrGardener183 жыл бұрын
700sm might be a bit of a streach for it just with the standard 5amp battery. however it is alway difficult to say with run times as there are so many variables which determine how long it would last but my first thought would be you problerly have to charge it or get another battery to finish the job.

I've just won this item on eBay, and it may well be overpriced and overkill too My medium lawn when using a push lawn mower was really quite difficult perhaps because I had thick grass I'd hope with a self propelled system, it's gonna be a lot easier to use. I'm really not fond of petrol tools too, largely because : - I don't want to have random fuel lying around - It's really terrible in terms of air quality if you're got petrol powered tools - Doing this kind of gardening work with petrol imo defeats the purpose a bit if you're negatively contributing to the environment
