EGR Cooler Failure Symptoms and Solutions!

I have a 06 freightliner century I have all the signs you mentioned been happening last few days And climbing a hill loaded with a heavy load be struggling climbing a hill also now empty or light load no problem climbing a hill I'm on my way to the Valley,AL freightliner shop now

If the egr cooler is leaking coolant, pressure testing the coolant system wont give me any visible leaks right?

My 2015 m2 had a bad coolant leak driving from nebraska to texas. I get back and all a sudden it doesnt leak anymore.

So what would cause the vgt to become faulty and stick? Moisture from the coolant?

That and the build up of soot, carbon and maybe coolant all end up in your VGT and sticks to the vanes, prohibiting them to move freely. EGR Maintenance is key to prevent failure & extend the life of your VGT.

Hi. I have received a letter from the bmw regarding the egr recall. At the same time I’ve been having many issues with my n47 engine lately. I had the turbocharger fail as well as exhaust stem valve seals leak causing a lot of white smoke. Wondering if egr could possibly affect those parts and whether I should contact bmw regarding that? I’d appreciate the reply. Thank you.

It is possible the EGR fault could cause some of your issues. I would start with having BMW complete the recall then reevaluate after that is completed. If you have any more questions, you can give us a call at 844-447-1453!

Can oil get mixed in the EGR cooler?

It's possible. May likely be a failed Oil Cooler. As always, have your engine inspected if this is an issue you're experiencing.
