1) Change your mechanic. You don't want one that just throws parts at your car. 2) Use OBD reader to tell you where the problem is 3) If it is the EGR valve, replace it. Cleaning is only a short term solution.

Wish you were close. Have po302 on my 2006 Subaru sti. So far did all swaps,did compression and leakdown test, did vacuum leak and exhaust leak check with smoke machine replaced both o2 denso sensors. , did noid test on injector connector. Just gave up taking to Subaru only repair shop
