Sorry, what are you on about? Who mentioned anything related to that. Who denied it being from the earth, obviously we didn't get these materials from an alien civilization, we obviously got them from Earth. The beauty of it is how we manipulated each thing to work perfectly with one another. This doesn't mean that we're gods, it just means we used resources properly. What's the problem with that? Edit: At first I thought he was talking in a sarcastic or demeaning way, I'm starting to re-read what he said in a different way. What I have noticed as the aircraft get more advanced, the simpler they become. Look at how clean and uncluttered that flight deck is. A 777 is even more sparse. What is going on in the computer control room is like something out of a sci-fi movie, but the actual interface that the pilots have to deal with is quite simple. Compare this to a 747-200 and you will see it has thousands of buttons, dials, gauges, switches and levers. I find that fascinating. Even the paper and binder clutter is reduced by 80% by the use of digital charts and checklist.

on this particular landing they turned off the lights because they were a lot of laser reported ( a few people did laser shots to dazzle the pilots...). They reminded to turn it on again before landing.

As an Australian peacekeeper with the US taxpayer funded Multi-National Force & Observers (MFO) in 1982-83, I lived in Cairo and often used the old airport. It was always a surreal experience. Underneath the old airport there was a huge storage area for lost items. It was like the warehouse in the movie 'Raiders of the Lost Arc' Things had been there for years. There were washing machines and even a big rocking horse. WTF? At an airport? Yes, living in Cairo at that time was a surreal experience. That said compared to living in aggressive Israel, as I also did, I found Egyptian people to be far more pleasant and friendly. Egyptians really are very nice people.

@@RonaldrDeleon Yeah look at the 737-max when technology was the cause of 2 fatal accidents by the seems of things. The Air France crash though where all the technology confused the pilots who didn't know what to do. Just my opinion but technology can be good but you want the backstop (human) when it does go wrong to know what is going on.

Probably smog prevention. Just a guess, Cairo filled with smog, keep lights off until runway is fully visible.

TheWindigomonster it just seems a bit dangerous to approach the airport at night only with the beacon and strobes (although they are longer on the 787), after hearing of incidents like the Air Canada Airbus at San Francisco where all lights were on and errors still happened. Personally I find it a bit weird to provoke something by not making yourself totally visible to the others... I don’t know as I‘m not an airline pilot, I‘m just wondering
