Delicious desserts during Ramadan! Egypt has many famous sweets, but is there anything special they eat during this month? Take a motorbike ride with me around Cairo as I stop by several pastry shops and show you a variety of tasty Egyptian desserts.
Want to donate to the channel? You can buy me a shawarma! 😂 But really, I just found out this website "buy me a coffee" exists and created an account, because, well, why not? I really just appreciate your support by watching my videos and I'm not asking you to donate, but, if you feel like it, now there's a place you can. Donations will probably just go to me making more street food videos. Here's the link: www.buymeacoff...
Welcome to the channel! My name's Gisselle, I'm a budget traveler and have been to 6 out of the 7 continents, visiting 20+ countries, living for some time in Sydney, Australia as well as in Saigon, Vietnam. I am currently based in Cairo, Egypt and exploring all this beautiful country has to offer, while visiting nearby countries as well. I am a lover of language and a culturally curious lady just making my way through life one day at a time. I live to learn, I love to travel and explore, try new things and meet interesting people anywhere and everywhere in the world. Come along with me as I solo travel the globe and discover fascinating new places, try delicious local food, meet lovely people, and share a moment in time on this beautiful planet, our Earth.

There is nothing better than finding and eating from a bakery that does these fresh cakes, sweets and patteseries then finding a cafe to drink black tea and going for a 1 hour walk to explore the area to work it all off! Great times in Egypt ❤

Thank you for the video. I have a sweet tooth and loved it. It also increases my seduction with chaos of Cairo. During my visit to Cairo last year, the taxi driver described "El Abd Patisserie" as "best of the best" and drove me there to purchase Egyptan cakes for my family. I noticed that their cakes are not as sweet as Greek or Turkish, but thier taste is awsome.
@Gventures
@Gventures 5 ай бұрын
I've never been to Greece, but I know Turkish desserts are also very sweet, I had a few when I was in Istanbul summer of 2022. For me, Egyptian desserts are also very sweet, they use so much syrup, so it's necessary to have water 😅

I remember once we at the traffic lights in a Taxi and a car came and swiped the front end of the taxi we were in, completely taking off the bumper and damaging much of the front end. The traffic police officer standing there didn't stop the other car and simply shrugged his shoulders at our taxi driver - like just deal with it 😂😂
@Gventures

Yeah that's pretty typical here. Many times I've been driving and come across 2 cars blocking traffic that have gotten into similar "accidents" with the two drivers outside of their cars yelling at each other. That's driving in Egypt 😅

Thank you, I appreciate your support! 🥰 I haven't been to the new administrative capital, and to be honest, I really have no desire to 😅 It's a long drive from where I live, so filming there would mean I will have to take an entire day off of work to go out there and record. However, although I have little interest in going there, I do still plan to at some point, just to briefly show it. But I have no immediate plans to do that, it might be a while before I make it out there on my bike.

@Gventures
@Gventures 2 ай бұрын
No unfortunately you can't hire them, I bought my motorcycle here in Cairo. It is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to find rentals in Egypt, or at least in Cairo. I think the reason that rentals are difficult to find (or non-existent) is because most foreigners/visitors do not want to drive in the lawless traffic here 😅

How do you stay longer than 30 days? What kinf of visa ? My wife lives in Cairo will be visiting soon. Love seeing another American enjoy what i call my second home❤️❤️
@Gventures
@Gventures 5 ай бұрын
You can extend your visa once inside of Egypt if you want to stay more than 30 consecutive days within the country. Not sure how long you are planning to stay in Egypt, but there is also a 14 day "grace period" which means technically you can stay inside of Egypt for 45 days without a fine. However, if you get a SIM card here, it will stop working once your visa expires (so after 30 days), unless you extend your visa. Also bring your passport to the phone store if you are planning to get a local SIM card here, because they will ask for it when purchasing a SIM card. I have made several videos about how to extend your visa, they are a bit outdated now, but I will leave the link here so you can at least see the location for the visa extension office in Cairo and get an idea of how the process works. Kanafa w/ nuts, Busbusa, and Kaak are my favorites. The main thing is the quality and freshness of the butter that counts. I prefer Street Pastries its cheaper and often just as good if not better then expensive commercial shops.

How you drive in that mayhem is beyond me. Thank you for another wonderful video of the sights and sounds of Cairo. The last Friday of April is (Coptic) Orthodox Good Friday. Is it possible to give us a view of the festivities in Coptic Cairo from your perspective? Also, I have noticed a few paramilitary units and heavy trucks on the streets of Cairo in your video. Any idea what is going on? Last time I saw the military on the streets of Cairo was on a visit in 1972.
@Gventures

When was the last time you were in Cairo? The military presence has always been like this since I arrived 2.5 years ago. I have been talking to my friend who is a Copt about making a video touching on some Coptic stuff, thankfully Coptic Easter and all that isn't happening till May 5th, so I have some time to plan it out. No guarantees, but it's already been an idea of mine to film a video about that, so if all goes well, I will be 😊

@@Gventures thanks, I stand corrected. I don’t know why I thought Good Friday was the last Friday in April. I guess I was misinformed. Friday May 3 is the correct date. I was in Cairo last in February of 2010 & I stayed in Heliopolis, only making trips by taxi into Shoubra, Giza and Garden City. I recall a large police presence and police providing security at my hotel- The Fairmont and the Egyptian museum. The Fairmont had lots of plain clothes police because of the large number of foreign diplomats staying there. In fact, the only military personnel- in uniform- I saw were Air Force officers coming out of Almaze Airbase in Roxy. Anyway, I am looking forward to your next video next Sunday. Take care and be safe.

@Gventures
@Gventures 5 ай бұрын
You mean churros? Yes, I suppose the ballah el sham does sort of resemble a mini churro. However, the texture and taste is of course very different, as ballah al sham is soaked in a syrup, and churros are only rolled in cinnamon sugar, so tend to be a lot more crunchy

Hey girl I notice on Uber app I don’t see any Uber XL ? do they not have suv there’s ? Or they can break rules and fit a family of 5 in a 4 seater car 😅?
@Gventures
@Gventures 4 ай бұрын
No they don't have SUV's 😅 Very rarely do I see one of those, and that person driving an SUV is certainly not working for Uber. An Uber will almost certainly let a bunch of people squeeze in though, it's Egypt 😅😆 The only reason they may not allow that is if you're going to be passing through some kind of security or something, if there's a chance they could be hassled by the police then they may say no.
