It's a really popular choice for a weekend visit from Ireland and the UK. Flights aren't too expensive if you book early.

Congratulations on this video. It is one of the best we have seen on the topic. Very informative. We have been to all three of them; however, the several times we have gone to Rudas, we have never been to the rooftop. We normally relax in the Turkish part. Looking forward to going back for more relaxation.

It is my huge favourite and I have been there four or five times now amongst 9 times to the city. Too many people are starting to find it now and it does get crowded but maybe Cv-19 will slow down recovery of numbers.

Again, after watching your uploads I knew where to go.. Thanks guys Really helpful. .Gellert is where I went on the 01/12/19. It was your upload that inspired me to see/ feel and again you were right lol 3hrs soak/steam 45 min amazing full hard massage. WoW. After returning to this amazingly beautiful city for the 3rd time this year, you have helped me see things that have literally taken my breath away- EVERY-TIME whether it be street talent, the friendly (very helpful) locals or the jaw dropping sights inc the Hungarian change of the guards (see my other uploads) not forgetting the beautiful architecture, wonderful public transport system, a HUGE amount of history, and some of the nicest foods I have ever tasted it is no surprise that Budapest, Hungary is my favorite place to be!! Massive shouts out to EVERYONE I met whilst there, It was a pleasure to meet you guys and I hope to again...PeAcE x Magik-Fingerz-uk Thank you for your helpful/fun uploads and keep up the great work guys. Budapest's hot springs are so cool...Hungary always blows me away with its hot springs....I live 5 miles from one of the best hot springs in Montana and go at least a couple times a week (bozeman hot springs the water is 54C from source and diluted into about 10 pools no chlorine its a flow thru and drained every night ), Montana has a bunch of hot springs developed( Jackson and Chico) and undeveloped...i have been to hot springs all over and seek them out Italy particularly Tuscany has amazing hot springs, and Switzerland too. And the Istarske toplice in Istria croatia is a fabulous one(i lived and worked in Croatia) and lake heviz in Hungary .... the largest thermal lake in the world is near lake Balaton... totally worth a side trip...ok i think you guys get the idea l love hot springs....and obviously Iceland too

Hi ! We spent a day at Szechenyi Thermal Baths also Lukacs Baths in January as we both have health problems . My husband uses the steam + saunas as well. The jets help my knees. We were due to go back in March & check out the roof top pool but it got cancelled due to Coronavirus. Our favourite thermal spa is in Baden Baden but I loved the swim up bar in the Titisee thermal spa!

We went to the Czechenyi baths when we visited years ago. There was ice skating in the park outside, and sat in the pool after as snow settled on our heads forming snow hats! Some of the ice sluice rooms there would almost stop your heart, with the shock of the temp. change 😁

Wow, that sounds idyllic, Nigel! Hot tubs in the snow sounds familiar for Canadians too :) I wonder if you'd find the baths have changed much or not since you were there.

I see where you're coming from: i've seen mold ridden hot tubs and sauna walls with peeling wood in gyms here in England. But in Hungary standards of the managements and the guests of the baths are quite high, especially bc bath therapies are part of our health system (like if you have rheuma your doc may give you a note that allows you say 10 entry in the hot/medical bath, and it is covered by the national health insurance) so they have to be up to medical standards. On the other hand in the blistering summer when the open air pools are in season, it is inevitable to meet a few of the fellow guests who are "differently abled in the cultural aspect"(uncultured swines) and may or may not piss in the pool. So i tend to choose places that are less accessible for the plebs (water parks, spa complexes under some 4-5* hotel management, etc).

So I visited the Gellert spa and it's a runny travel story I tell a lot because I got a massage and it was far from relaxing. I was rubbed very rougly, fully naked and instructed to spread like a star. It wasn't oil but a cream that smelled like Vicks vaporub. I felt so violated. That was before I spent an hour in the baths (tiled ones you preferred) that was only for women with optional swimwear. And it's never the ones who "should" that do take that option. I still have an embroidered towel from the spa that makes me smile every time I use it and reminds me of that experience.

You may have seen already but we made a whole series in Budapest (and about other European Christmas markets) I hope will be helpful for trip planning: bit.ly/BudapestPlaylist. We stayed quite close to the House of Terror museum which we loved because it was sort of between the downtown area and the Szechenyi Baths/Hero Square/Vajdahunyad Castle. We walked everywhere. That's also where the huge skating rink is that will be open in December! I'd look for somewhere on the Pest side (for sure) within walking distance of the places you'd like to visit. It'll be cold but not insanely so (I'm from Canada haha). Definitely dress for winter though. Have an amazing time!

The first and last ones. How long would you say is best to stay in Budapest? 5 DAYS 7 DAYS?
@EileenAldis Жыл бұрын
Hey Chris! That's a tough question as it depends what you want to do and how much time you can spare. I'd say you'll definitely fill whatever time you take there as there are plenty of places to visit. 5 or 7 days would be great itineraries and my guess is there would still be places you'd like to go or return to after that time. You need a swim cap to swim? Why?
@ZoltanHoppar6 жыл бұрын
Because of sheddig of hair. Many people go in and out these baths, and without caps the filtering is gets worse, and water quality couldn't stay on the same level. So cleaning the filters, the bath, the water - is not really cheap, when if no one cares about.... that would be bad. So, people - please wear caps.
@fufala846 жыл бұрын
This is the rule in most of the pools that are for swimming in Hungary. As far as I know to prevent visitors hair from falling into the water. It's not a very consistent rule, because it only concerns bigger pools.
