Back in 2002, thanks to a rather fortunate scheduling mistake by the US Embassy (giving us passes for a day Parliament wasn’t in session), and the subsequent generosity of security at the UK Parliament, my brother and I were allowed into the public gallery to watch a packed House of Commons debate the Queen’s Speech, the UK government’s legislative program for the new session of Parliament. The highlight was watching Prime Minister Tony Blair address the House and field questions from Members of Parliament. I imagine it would have been a bit like scoring tickets to the State of the Union, but it was so much more fun. The head of protocol at the embassy personally called me to apologize for the mixup and was quite pleasantly surprised to hear what had happened, saying her own staff wouldn’t have been able to get tickets to attend.

Living in the United States unfortunately as a US citizen. I can definitely say that watching a clip like this from the UK is extremely refreshing and quite enjoyable. Mainly because of the fact that their government works way better than ours and yet has almost exact same problems as ours but completely deals with things in a totally different way than the us. And I do believe that the way that they govern over in the UK should be the way we govern here!! It's fun to watch a parliament leader actually lose their control! Especially when it is usually stereotypical for them to not lose control of the House of Commons in the way that this speaker did! Thanks for the laugh UK
