Eivør is a Nordic spirit who walks among us. She has no equal. When she chants, that's her Nordic goddess rising up out of her human persona. No other explanation suffices.

The beautiful thing about this song, her delivery and performance, the words written by her , in relation to your reaction, is that art, like this is always left to your interpretation. What you get out of it personal to you, but you cannot deny the emotion she conveys so powerfully that you can feel it through time and space.

Love the reaction man. She is from the Faroe Islands (an island which belongs to Denmark, but have also kept their own old norse language and tradition). A next good song from Eivør is "Trøllabundin" or "I Tokuni", both sung in her own language, Faroese. ❤

Sure thing. You must to see this song. I'm impressed. It's a tribal song, kind of "wizard invocation". The song name is «Tròdlabùndin» ( someone in the comments translate as "spellbound") and this show is in Norway. Here is the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/raTPXn5-fMpngc0

that "screams" you referring to are called kulning, which is an ancient vocal technique used for example during sheep herding, to call over longer distances. i like "boxes", too.

Completely agree with previous comments. Best life performance, one of best creations out there. How it is building up combined with her one in 100000 voice is out of this world. I am not listening to this kind of music but i certainly recognize masterpiece in every aspect starting from voice band lightning and performance..... mind blowing.

Eivør is one of the best Singer I've ever heard. She's my absolute favorite and I love the fact that her live performances are exactly like or even better than the official versions. And everytime with a little suprise in it. I've only got from trollabundin 6 different versions. Min modir, salt, her new Segl album, every song from her is simply amazing. I really hope bcuz of the pandemic that I can visit her concert in germany in oct 2021

i think it's a love song to many things, but most of all to music itself. she is invoking the power of her own voice more than pleading with anyone or anything. that aboriginal, wild style of chanting is very empowering, as it uses the whole body and range, letting the singer experience the pure joy of being able to reach out to the world, free of all restraints. the whole performance is very much about control and power, and letting go of it. if you listen to the lyrics closely, you'll find that her surrender is very much her own, free choice. she is taking a big risk on someone or something, fully aware of the possible consequences. ready to own them.

This live version is amazing, I rarely listen to the original version from the Room album. The original doesn't have this instrumental/vocal-solo section, and the main drive of the instrumental is made by piano.. That semitone dissonance of that 9th on the Gm9 on the piano feels more haunting, but on that guitar, with that beautiful octave reverb it has more of a contemplation vibe to it. From this album, I strongly reccoment True Love ( there a beautiful live version on Helsinki, with a beautiful vocal solo at the end ), Rain, Green Garden and Far Away, the first song I heard from her ( on a tourism promotional video from the Faroe Islands )...

I think she's mentioned before that this song was written for a previous relationship (during a live performance when she got her partner to sing with her, which brought on many chuckles :D ) Regarding the addressing a higher power theory, I mean, every work of art is open to interpretation, and that's also the sign of a great work of art, how applicable it is to many situations. I've spoken to her many times and she's such a lovely and open creature, that I'm sure she wouldn't mind that interpretation, if that's what you need from this song :)

And for "I will always love you" I deliberately chose this version because it's filmed in pandemic days, it's for a good cause. And lastly, will you continue reacting to Turkish singers? Amongst all the react videos i saw about this live performance, i think you're the only one who thought about a possible love song to a god of some sort. And you know what ? I thought exactly the same, and i have to tell that i'm not what one call call a religious personn. Definitely not ! Considering this artist has a special relationship with nature, traditionnal fold nordic music and song, this "god" might very well be just nature, beautifullness, not a god in a traditionnal way people think about but in a tribal way. Maybe that's the reason why it touches your very soul when you just listen to this pure angel voice.

So far I took it as a love song, and almost sure she meant as a love song too, BUT, since you mentioned God, from now on I will interpret for myself like this: a GOD/GODDESS (she can see their future, see stories in their eyes) is falling for a human being, *now* surrendering, falling down, the shamanic chanting - spiritual experience for sure :)))
