The ump took it as continued dissent over a previous call; automatic ejection as it's highly likely Kotsay was warned about it off camera.

I think they shouldn't give equipment fines when it is after an inning ends unless it was the last out of the game.

@@ericwildfong This was a poor use of the rule anyways, batter is throwing equipment towards the bat boy, not out of disrespect for the umpire. Eddings knew he blew the call, so figured he had to defend himself.

Bill Miller goaded Brett Lawrie into an ejection with some horrendous strikes, and I've hated him ever since. Maybe my least favourite umpire (although def not the worst still employed). Also check swing rule is dumb

@@mph7282 here's the very ambiguous rule: "It is up to the judgment of the umpire(s) if the batter attempted at a pitched ball." Seems extremely clear, no way that it can vary widely based on the "judgement" of the umpire.

The fine should only be used when a player is verbally disgruntled, yet here for all we know the batter is mad at himself for not swinging.

Robo umps get calls wrong too. You only look at the calls humans get wrong which skews your viewpoint (though I do understand it to a great degree) .
